A Bug In Fate

Chapter 83: The Inter-City Tournament (04)

The moment Alice’s voice fell, the entire arena erupted into chaos.

Mana began surging from hundreds of participants as weapons were drawn and spells started forming around them. The peaceful atmosphere from moments ago disappeared completely.

"You fucker!"

"Fireball!"

"Wind Slash!"

Various spells were being cast as everyone moved, and the entire arena was filled with chaos. The people in the Spark Realm could only grit their teeth because they couldn’t cast spells like the Rupture Realm cultivators.

Some rushed forward with their weapons while others tried to stay away from the stronger participants.

A few participants immediately formed groups, knowing that fighting alone would make them an easy target.

Meanwhile, powerful spells collided in the middle of the arena, creating bursts of wind and fire that forced nearby participants to retreat.

The crowd went completely wild as they watched the battle unfold.

"Look at that!"

"Someone is already out!"

"Who the hell is that guy?"

The first round had only just begun, yet the number of participants was already falling rapidly.

Who knew how, but Spark Realm cultivators were suddenly ganging up on Rupture Realm cultivators, as they were only a few in number.

A Rupture Realm young man cast a wind spell, only to get overwhelmed by five Spark Realm cultivators. Before he realized what was happening, his bracelet had already activated, and he was teleported out.

"HAHAHA! DID YOU SEE THAT?"

"Five against one!"

"That’s actually a good strategy!"

The crowd erupted into laughter and cheers as they watched the eliminated participant appear at the corner of the arena.

Alice, who was standing above the battlefield, blinked for a moment before a grin appeared on her face.

"Well, well... It seems some of you have already figured out how to survive this round."

Her amplified voice spread throughout the arena.

"But remember! There are only ten spots available, so don’t get too comfortable!"

The crowd immediately became louder.

"GO!"

"TAKE HIM DOWN!"

"Don’t let that guy escape!"

More participants began forming temporary groups, while the stronger cultivators quickly realized that they had become targets.

Some Rupture Realm cultivators cursed as they were surrounded, while others immediately increased their speed and searched for weaker opponents.

Alice watched everything with an amused expression.

"Interesting..."

"LOOK OVER THERE!"

Suddenly, her eyes moved toward another part of the battlefield, where a young man had been surrounded by seven Spark Realm cultivators.

Yet instead of fear, a huge grin was plastered across his face.

The seven participants exchanged glances before four of them suddenly charged at him, their weapons raised as they attacked from different directions.

The young man didn’t move.

He simply took a slow breath before exhaling.

"Star Fist."

A red spell suddenly formed around his fist as a powerful surge of mana gathered around his arm.

His grin widened.

The relaxed expression disappeared from his eyes, replaced by something far more predatory.

"Come!"

He stepped forward.

BOOM!

His fist collided with the first attack, sending a shockwave through the battlefield. The attacker was thrown backward, while the young man immediately twisted his body and struck another participant who was approaching from the side.

The impact sent him flying.

The remaining attackers froze for a moment.

That was enough.

The young man rushed forward like a beast released from its cage, his red-covered fist smashing through their formation.

Four participants were blown away at once, while one of them took the full force of the attack.

His bracelet instantly activated.

WHOOSH!

His figure disappeared from the battlefield and appeared outside the arena.

"ONE DOWN!" Alice shouted excitedly.

The crowd erupted into cheers as the young man stood among the remaining six opponents, his grin becoming even wider.

"Who wants to be next?"

While Marcus was showing his impressive strength in another corner of the battlefield, a woman with green hair was calmly firing arrows one after another.

Poor Spark Realm cultivators were being teleported out of the battlefield one after another, barely getting a chance to react.

The arrows were frighteningly fast, but that wasn’t the only problem.

They seemed to follow their targets.

Even worse, the area of effect of her arrows stretched for more than two 40 meters, meaning anyone unfortunate enough to get caught within the range was affected as well.

Elara smiled faintly as she raised her bow once again.

She didn’t even need to look behind her.

Two participants were attempting to sneak up on her.

"Wind Piercer."

The arrow covered in a green hue shot forward at high speed.

The two men immediately noticed it and raised their swords to deflect the attack.

CLANG!

Their swords shattered the moment they came into contact with the arrow.

"What?!"

The two were pushed several meters backward, struggling to stabilize themselves.

Before they could recover, Elara had already drawn another arrow.

She released it without hesitation.

The green arrow flew directly toward them.

Their expressions changed as they realized they had no time to dodge.

The arrow stopped just before reaching them.

Their bracelets activated at the same time.

In the next moment, both of them disappeared from the battlefield.

Elara calmly lowered her bow.

"LADY ELARA!"

"WINDMARE CITY!"

"MOM, SHE IS AMAZING!"

People from Windmare City shouted, and a smile appeared on Elara’s face as she shifted her attention to another target.

Mina and Liam were also facing their own challenges, as participants from other cities had also ganged up on them.

"Wind Blade!"

Liam cast a spell at two people before charging at another participant with his spear in his hand. The man couldn’t even keep up with his speed as the tip of Liam’s spear touched his bracelet, causing it to activate and teleport him out of the battlefield.

Meanwhile, Mina seemed to be in high spirits as her sword flashed toward a Spark Realm girl. The girl tried her best to deflect the strike, but she didn’t even realize it before she was out of the battlefield.

"LIAM AND MINA!"

"I LOVE MINA!"

"YOU FUCKER, SHE IS LIAM’S GIRLFRIEND!"

"SHH... HER SISTER MIGHT BE HERE!"

Liam flinched at the ridiculous chants, wondering how they were putting him and Mina together without any basis. To him, they looked just like friends, but to the people watching them fight side by side, it was like watching a hero and heroine fighting evil people together with the power of love.

No one noticed it, but a faint blush appeared on Mina’s face before disappearing as she cast a spell. However, one could imagine her state of mind from the fact that the spell was slightly off its target.

The number of participants continued to decrease as one after another, they were teleported out to a corner of the battlefield.

Most of those eliminated were Spark Realm cultivators who had chosen the wrong opponents. However, a few unlucky Rupture Realm cultivators had also been eliminated, mostly after being surrounded and ganged up on by participants from other cities.

The participants, who had been exactly 133 at the start, had now been reduced to only 70. The number continued to decrease with every passing moment as another participant was eliminated.

A young man holding daggers suddenly closed the distance with another Rupture Realm cultivator. His target wasn’t the man’s vital point, however. His eyes were fixed on the bracelet around his opponent’s wrist.

Lucas moved like a shadow.

He twisted his body and struck toward the bracelet, forcing his opponent to raise his weapon to defend.

Lucas didn’t give him a chance to recover. His dagger struck the bracelet, causing it to activate and teleport the man out of the battlefield.

Without wasting any time, Lucas’s gaze locked onto another area of the battlefield.

"Blazing Ball."

A ball of fire shot from his hand toward a duo from Redmont City, forcing them to separate as the flames exploded between them.

Lucas exhaled as his eyes swept across the battlefield.

He seemed to be searching for someone.

But after a moment, he shook his head.

Maybe he was eliminated along the way... Well, I don’t have to worry about him now.

A faint smile appeared on his face as his grip tightened around his daggers.

The battle was still far from over, but Lucas had already begun looking for his next target.
