The giant had been very strong.

Aksai had no doubt that Droven would have caused him serious trouble if the battle had continued under normal circumstances.

He looked at the golden Demon Vine still piercing through Droven’s chest.

Aksai raised his hand, and the vine slowly pulled itself out.

Puchi!

Blood flowed from the wound.

Droven’s body swayed slightly before falling to the ground with a heavy thud.

Aksai stared at him.

"I don’t know or care who you are, but intruding on my turf without my consent was a big mistake. This island still belongs to me you know... at least for now."

There was no hatred in his voice. Droven had simply been an enemy. There was nothing complicated about that.

Aksai had already suspected what had happened.

The imperial cultivators had not simply appeared here by chance. It seemed that the Sun Ocean Lord had stolen something from them, taking advantage of a chaotic situation.

And then those imperial cultivators had been led straight toward Emerald Cove Island.

One had to remember that, just like the Purple River Sect, the Sun Ocean Society governed by the Sun Ocean Lord also had direct access to the seas. As such, it had been easy for him to lead his pursuers here in an attempt to shake them off his trail.

Of course, Aksai couldn’t know every detail yet, but he could guess the Sun Ocean Lord’s thinking. His plan was simple to decipher.

Let Aksai become the shield and distraction, forcing the imperial cultivators to fight him. Then, while everyone was busy fighting, the Sun Ocean Lord would slip away.

He just hadn’t expected Aksai to have access to such a formidable formation. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have willingly followed Aksai into the island’s formation.

He had probably thought he was clever, using Aksai without consequence.

That was why Aksai had willingly allowed him to enter the Array Eye.

"Two birds with one stone. Double the rewards with no effort. Whatever the Sun Ocean Lord stole is also rightfully mine now.

"Kekeke. I like being a fisherman in such murky waters the most."

There was no hesitation in his movements.

The dead were dead, and their treasures had become Aksai’s. And because he used puppet techniques, even their corpses could be put to good use.

Aksai didn’t even bother checking what was in the storage rings of the Sun Ocean Lord and Droven. There was simply no time.

With a thought, a faint spatial ripple appeared beside Aksai.

The freshly killed bodies of Droven and the Sun Ocean Lord were immediately enveloped by a layer of spatial energy.

Whoosh!

Both corpses disappeared from the battlefield.

Aksai had directly sent them into the Enchanted Everwood Farm.

There, they could be dealt with later. Inside, Yelia was already prepared to preserve the essence of these Lord-level bodies so that they could be turned into high level puppets.

Aksai didn’t bother to check on what Yelia was doing. Right now, every moment mattered.

Aksai slowly turned his head toward the remaining battlefield.

His gaze settled on the distant figure of Varesh who was also locked inside his own isolating layer.

The black flying sword continued to flash through the grayish-white fog.

SHING!

A Demon Vine was severed.

SHING!

Another one was cut apart.

BOOM!

A violent Sword Intent exploded, shredding dozens of vines simultaneously.

Yet more Demon Vines emerged from the ground.

They twisted.

They regenerated.

They attacked from different directions. And Varesh continued cutting them down without breaking a sweat.

The man’s movements remained remarkably composed. Even after fighting inside the Devil’s Den for so long, his breathing hadn’t become particularly ragged.

His Sword Intent remained sharp and his killing aura remained concentrated. There was no sign of panic.

One reason could be that he didn’t feel like he was in any type of mortal peril. Another reason for his worry-free stance was because he didn’t care what would happen to his peers.

***

Aksai’s eyes narrowed as he watched Varesh’s fearsome attack potential. Indeed a true sword cultivator. No wonder Kalina was so scared at the thought of dealing with them.

At this point, three out of four imperial cultivators had been dealt with.

The Sun Ocean Lord had also been dragged into the conflict, but Aksai had never counted him among the true threats.

The old native Lord had merely been a useful pawn. Nothing more. Nothing less.

A certain type of storm was brewing in the subcontinent, a form of controlled chaos. Aksai wouldn’t even have bothered to exchange his greetings with him if it hadn’t been for the four imperial cultivators he had brought with him.

Aksai’s expression became solemn. Now, out of four imperial cultivators, only the true sword cultivator named Varesh remained. And Aksai knew that he was more troublesome than all the others combined.

He had deliberately avoided personally involving himself in the earlier battles. It wasn’t because he lacked the means to intervene. It was because he had been conserving everything he had.

His Spirit Essence, Aether Essence, and even his Aurous Qi.

Everything had been preserved for this one battle.

Varesh was different from the other three. He was a pure sword cultivator, a genuine holder of Sword Intent. His entire cultivation path revolved around killing. And there was no obvious weakness for Aksai to exploit.

More importantly, Aksai had already experienced what it meant to fight a powerful sword cultivator from the Shinayin Empire.

Kalina wasn’t even a true sword cultivator. Worse, she didn’t even have access to her Natal Sword and was forced to use a sword-type talisman in its place. And even then, she had almost managed to win over Aksai.

Aksai knew that dealing with such opponents required him to push himself to his limits.

One mistake was enough. A single opening could become a fatal wound.

Aksai slowly clenched his fist. He didn’t like the life-and-death battles at all. And yet, here he was, facing two of such battles in a short span of time.

But what needed to be done had to be done.
