A faint smile appeared on Varesh’s face.
There was no need to wait. He could simply give the formation master a reason to come out.
Varesh slowly raised his black Natal Sword, his expression becoming slightly more serious.
"Since you refuse to come out on your own..."
His Sword Intent began to rise.
"...I’ll just force you to come here myself."
The atmosphere within the isolation layer suddenly changed.
Until now, Varesh had been using only a fraction of his strength. His attacks had been precise and restrained, carefully avoiding the most important parts of the formation.
He had indeed attacked the draconic Bluewind Eagles seriously. But that was before he understood Emerald Cove Island’s true worth.
This time, however, he decided to become mildly serious while maintaining strict control over his strength.
Not enough to destroy the formation, but enough to hurt it.
This was the confidence of a true sword cultivator in controlling their strength. One could say that sword cultivators were the surgeons of the cultivation world, their Natal Swords no different from scalpels known for their precision.
Varesh had no defensive or offensive artifacts. He had no collection of mysterious Connate Spells hidden up his sleeve.
As a true sword cultivator, he possessed only one weapon—his Natal Sword. Everything he had was concentrated within that black-as-ink blade.
His entire method of expressing the might of a late-stage Lord-level cultivator was contained within that single sword.
A true sword cultivator was like a poet, while his surroundings were the blank sheet of paper in front of him. Sword Mind was his ideas, Sword Heart was his will to project those ideas, Sword Sense was the language of expression, and Sword Intent was the inspiration. Finally, his Natal Sword was the brush, and Sword Essence was the ink.
Sword Momentum was the stroke that moved the brush across the blank sheet of paper, while Sword Cry was the highlight of that stroke that enhanced the original form.
As such, when true sword cultivators expressed themselves through their swords, their attacks stopped being attacks that followed conventional laws and reached the realm of art, where they were no longer bound by ordinary logic.
Varesh was still quite far from experiencing the true depths of sword cultivation. However, he was on the right path toward true Sword Dao immersion. He used Aksai’s formation as a whetstone to sharpen his skills and go deeper into the realm of sword cultivation.
Varesh’s eyes became cold as his Sword Sense spread outward. His Sword Body tightened, and his Sword Mind became completely focused and his Sword Heart remained unmoved.
Four different aspects of his sword cultivation operated simultaneously.
The next moment—
Vmmm!
A black Sword Shadow appeared beside him.
Then another.
Then another.
In the blink of an eye, dozens of Sword Shadows surrounded Varesh.
Each Sword Shadow possessed a portion of his Sword Intent.
They floated around him like silent guardians.
The approaching Demon Vines immediately sensed danger and lunged. Hundreds of vines emerged from the fog like enormous serpents. At the same time, sharp Earth Spikes erupted from beneath Varesh’s feet.
The Demon Tree in the distance trembled.
Its branches bent downward.
Countless thorns shot through the fog.
Various plant-based Woodland creatures, strengthened by the formation, charged toward him from different directions.
Aksai had not deployed the Woodland zombies or Woodland fiends to confront Varesh because doing so would be no different from simply discarding them without gaining anything in return.
Instead, he had used various plant-based Woodland creatures that would at least create a nuisance for Varesh. At least, that was what the Spirit Farmer had thought.
Unfortunately, these low-grade plant-based monsters didn’t even qualify as a nuisance to a true sword cultivator.
Varesh didn’t even move, but the Sword Shadows did.
SHING!
One Sword Shadow flashed.
A dozen Demon Vines were severed.
SHING!
Another Sword Shadow pierced through several Earth Spikes.
SHING!
A third Sword Shadow tore through a group of thorn-covered Woodland creatures.
The battlefield became filled with black sword light.
Varesh stood at the center and slowly inhaled. His breathing became synchronized with his Sword Mind.
Then he channeled his refined Sword Essence into his Natal Sword.
The black blade trembled.
VMMMM!
A low vibration spread through the isolation layer.
Varesh’s eyes flashed.
He swung.
"Go."
SHING!
The Natal Sword released a clear Sword Cry.
The sound spread across the battlefield, and the surrounding Sword Shadows responded.
SHING! SHING! SHING! SHING!
One after another, they released their own Sword Cries.
The sounds resonated with one another.
Then something terrifying happened. The Sword Shadows began to change, their forms blurring. Their edges became sharper and their Sword Intent merged together.
The dozens of Sword Shadows transformed into countless shadowy Sword Blades as they began spinning around Varesh.
At first, the rotation was slow. But as the intensity of the Sword Cry increased, it became faster.
Faster.
And faster.
In an instant, a terrifying blade storm formed around him.
This was something that had not happened on the Dadangar Subcontinent for a very long time. A true sword cultivator’s attack was a terrifying sight for any native cultivator.
VMMMM—!
The entire isolation layer trembled.
The storm surrounding Varesh looked like a miniature manifestation of his Natal Sword.
Countless black Sword Blades swept through the battlefield.
Everything they touched was destroyed. Even the blades of green grass on the ground were methodically shredded, creating a barren land in the blink of an eye.
Demon Vines were shredded.
Earth Spikes were pulverized.
Demon Tree thorns were reduced to fragments.
Woodland creatures were cut apart before they could even approach Varesh.
The fog itself seemed to be sliced apart.
There was no longer any distinction between attack and defense.
Every Sword Blade was both.
The blade storm protected Varesh while simultaneously annihilating everything around him.
If any native late-stage Lords had been present at the scene, no matter how many there were, they too would have probably been shredded into nothingness within a few moments, regardless of what tricks they used.
Unless they found a way to escape the area, their chances of survival would have been reduced to zero.
