Maria.
How do I get the hell out of this?
I thought inwardly, my mind racing in a blind panic as I scrambled for a way to break free. But while I was frantically searching for an escape, Davian’s eyes darkened further, the remaining glint of his human restraint fading completely into a shadow of pure, primal hunger.
Within a split second, he leaned down and crashed his lips against mine hungrily, finally submitting to the overwhelming demands of his inner wolf.
I instantly tilted my head away, desperately trying to break the contact and not give in to the intense heat igniting between us. But the more I moved and fought against him, the more relentlessly he claimed my lips without a moment’s hesitation, cutting off every attempt I made to pull back.
"Help me, Maria!" Davian blurted out again against my skin, his voice broken and breathless.
And soon, his sheer physical strength and the suffocating weight of the Alpha pull completely overpowered me. I simply couldn’t resist any longer, my resolve crumbling as my body began submitting to his touch.
He deepened the kiss with a fierce, possessive rhythm, savouring every single inch of my mouth as he brought his hands up to cup my face, holding me securely in place.
That single, desperate action was the final straw for Vernia. The barriers in my mind shattered, and she came into full light, taking over my actions instantly. Losing all rational thought to the wolf’s desire, I reached up and wrapped my hands tightly around Davian’s neck, pulling him even closer to surrender to the sensation.
Davian groaned against my mouth, wrapping his large hands firmly around my waist as he devoured my lips with a higher, almost ravenous intensity. Soon enough, his hands moved smoothly from my waist down to my thigh. With effortless strength, he lifted my legs, causing me to wrap them tightly around his waist while he pressed me firmly against the wall, supporting my weight as my back rested against the cool surface.
"I want more, Maria!" he growled low in his chest, his voice a dark, rough rumble.
Without breaking the fierce kiss, his hands moved with desperate speed, unbuttoning my shirt while his mouth remained hungrily locked onto mine. Slowly and carefully, he pulled the fabric away from my shoulders and traced his warm, calloused hands down my bare back, the intense contact causing my body to ache with a sharp, intoxicating pleasure.
I was so deeply lost in the overwhelming tide of sensation that I completely forgot about everything—about where we were, about the imminent danger, and about the escape. I was entirely consumed, right up until the exact moment I felt a sharp, familiar tug deep within my mind.
The mind link.
The sudden intrusion struck me like a bucket of ice water, shattering the trance in an instant. My rational mind slammed back into place, seizing control from Vernia. Gasping for air, I immediately regained my senses and shoved Davian away with all the strength I could muster, breaking the contact.
As he stumbled back, breathing heavily, I hurriedly pulled my shirt back over my shoulders and buttoned it with trembling fingers, immediately connecting to the mind link to see who was reaching out to me.
And it was Noah.
"Noah!" I called out in my mind, my voice sharp and demanding within the mental channel. "Where the hell have you been, and why haven’t I seen you?" I asked through it, without a single moment of hesitation, demanding answers for his agonizing absence.
Davian, on the other hand, didn’t seem to care about my sudden stillness. Driven by the unrelenting pull of his wolf, he stepped toward me and wrapped his arms firmly around my waist from behind. Pulling me back against his broad chest, he began slowly tracing his mouth along the delicate curve of my neckline, his lips pressing warm, lingering kisses against my skin.
I bit my bottom lip instantly, digging my teeth in so hard it hurt as I fought with everything I had not to make a single sound.
"I can’t answer all that right now," Noah’s voice echoed back through the link, heavy and strained. He paused for a brief, heavy beat before continuing. "But I just want you to know that I love you, and you must leave this place even without seeing me."
I froze instantly.
The terrifying weight of his words hit me so hard that even the relentless working of Davian’s lips against my neck elicited no reaction from me whatsoever. My body went completely rigid, cold fear washing over the lingering heat of moments before.
"What’s wrong, Maria?" Davian whispered directly into my ear, his breath hot against my shell, noticing the sudden, absolute stillness that had come over me.
"What do you mean by that, Noah?" I asked, my mental voice rising in a wave of sudden panic. "We are supposed to be leaving together! So how could you possibly expect me to—" I continued, my mind racing as terror clawed at my throat.
But I didn’t get to finish my sentence, as Noah abruptly cut me off before I could spiral any further.
"Yes, we are leaving together, but I will come later," he paused, his tone laced with a grim, dangerous finality that made my blood run cold. "This is the only way to avoid Vincent tracking you down immediately. I strongly suspect he has his eyes on me at all times, so ensure you listen to the quadruplets and follow their lead." He added, his voice filled with an urgent, desperate weight.
"But—" I started, desperate to argue, desperate to refuse a plan that left him behind in enemy territory.
"I love you, Maria!" he said softly, and before I could utter another word, he immediately disconnected the mind link, severing the connection and plunging my mind into an absolute, deafening silence.
And instantly, my mind went berserk.
The room seemed to spin as a chaotic storm of fear, confusion, and panic violently erupted within me. My heart hammered wildly against my ribs like a trapped bird, and every rational thought I had was completely shattered into pieces.
