Damien.

My eyes widened in complete, instantaneous shock the very moment Daniel voiced what he wanted us to do.

For several seconds, I could only stare at him, utterly stunned by the sheer recklessness of his suggestion. My mind struggled to process what I had just heard, as if somehow, if I remained silent long enough, his words would suddenly make more sense.

But they didn’t.

Was he seriously about to risk all of our lives on a reckless gamble?

A gamble that could easily cost every single one of us our lives?

What absolute, suicide-mission nonsense was he talking about?

The thought alone sent a surge of disbelief through me, and before I could even find the right words to express my objection, Aidan exploded.

"There is no way in hell we are doing that!" Aidan interjected immediately.

His voice rang through the tense silence with absolute refusal, leaving no room for negotiation. His chest heaved heavily as his breathing quickened, his fists clenching so tightly at his sides that his knuckles turned stark white beneath the strain. His entire posture radiated anger and disbelief, making it painfully obvious that Daniel’s suggestion was the last thing he was willing to accept.

"I really cannot help but feel you still aren’t fully convinced by the evidence we brought, and now you just want to set us up to be slaughtered!" Adrien added.

His voice dripped with intense irritation, each word sharper than the last. His dark eyes burned with an angry, almost lethal fire as he fixed them firmly on Daniel, his expression hardening with every passing second.

Daniel immediately shook his head. "I am not trying to deceive a single one of you!" he countered, his response coming without hesitation.

He took a step forward, quickly raising both hands in a frantic attempt to calm them down and prevent the rising tension from exploding any further.

His expression remained desperate as he looked between them, clearly struggling to make them understand what he was trying to accomplish.

"It is merely a necessary strategy to help us discover the ultimate truth behind all of this!" he added desperately, his voice carrying the weight of his insistence.

Yet even as he defended himself, the tension in the room remained thick, with his explanation doing little to immediately ease the disbelief and anger his proposal had created.

"To hell with your damn truth, Daniel!" Davian yelled at the top of his voice, his thunderous roar exploding through the chamber and echoing violently off the cold stone walls.

The sheer force of his anger seemed to hang in the air long after his words had left his mouth. His chest rose and fell heavily, his expression twisted with raw frustration as he stared directly at Daniel, making it painfully clear that he had reached the absolute limit of his patience.

"This whole mess is your own personal problem, so go work on it by yourself..." He paused deliberately, his jaw setting into a rigid, uncompromising line as his eyes remained fixed on Daniel, as there was not even the slightest trace of hesitation in his expression. "...My brothers and I will not be used as your suicidal tools in your grand quest for revenge!" he declared with absolute finality.

His words carried the weight of a decision that, in his mind, had already been made. He wasn’t asking for an argument, nor was he leaving room for Daniel to convince him otherwise.

Daniel, however, immediately shook his head.

"I am not using any of you," he said, his voice noticeably lower now.

Unlike Davian’s explosive outburst, Daniel’s response was controlled, almost painfully calm. He paused for a moment before slowly turning his gaze toward each and every one of us, deliberately meeting our eyes one after another.

There was something unmistakable in his expression—raw honesty and deep sincerity.

He wasn’t looking at us with the calculating expression of someone trying to manipulate us. Instead, his eyes carried a desperate earnestness as though he needed us to understand that his intentions were not what Davian believed them to be.

"Don’t you all want to know what exactly happened to your reputation?" he asked, his voice remaining steady as his gaze lingered over us.

The question immediately carried the weight of everything we had already endured.

"Don’t you want to uncover the real reason why you were all framed so horribly in the first place?" he continued, forcing the question directly into the center of the conflict.

His words landed heavily.

A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the room for a long moment, and no one immediately answered.

The air seemed thick with hesitation as the brothers exchanged conflicted, uncertain glances, each of them appearing caught between their anger toward Daniel and the undeniable weight of the questions he had just placed before them.

For that brief moment, the entire chamber remained completely still, swallowed by an uncomfortable silence filled with uncertainty.

Daniel finally broke the quiet, taking advantage of the hesitation that had settled over the brothers as he continued speaking in a measured, controlled tone. His voice was calm, almost unnervingly so compared to the tension that had filled the room moments earlier.

"You see, it is a completely mutual agreement!" he added, stepping further into the center of the tense circle so that none of us could misunderstand who he was addressing.

His gaze moved between us as he spoke, his expression remaining composed despite the obvious resistance he was facing.

"So I am not using you at all—we both stand to gain everything if this works," he said calmly, emphasizing each word as though trying to make us understand the logic behind his proposal.

For a brief moment, nobody responded, and then Adrien chuckled bitterly.

It was a low, cold sound that carried absolutely no genuine humor. Instead, it was filled with disbelief and restrained irritation, his expression hardening as he slowly leaned forward.

"Mutual?" he asked, as his eyes narrowed into sharp slits as he fixed Daniel with an intense, distrustful stare. "A mutual agreement at the very expense of my own life?" he continued, his voice dropping lower with every word.

There was nothing playful in his tone now.

Every single syllable dripped with deadly seriousness, making his objection unmistakably clear. He stared at Daniel as though the very suggestion was so absurd that he could barely believe they were still discussing it.

"I really do not understand what you all are saying!" I finally chimed in.

My voice cut through the heated exchange after I had remained silent for far too long, quietly watching the entire chaotic commotion unfold before me.

I couldn’t understand how the conversation had somehow reached this point or why everyone seemed willing to entertain such a dangerous proposal.

"All I know for certain is that you need to count me completely out of this suicidal situation," I added firmly.

I crossed my arms tightly over my chest, making my position as clear as possible. There was no hesitation in my voice and absolutely no willingness to reconsider.

"I am out as well!" Davian added immediately, as his loud, booming voice followed mine, carrying the same unmistakable finality.

His declaration left absolutely zero room for argument, making it perfectly clear that he wanted no part in Daniel’s dangerous proposal either.

"Can you all seriously not just see the greater reason behind why we are doing this?" Daniel asked, throwing his hands up in sheer frustration as he looked around at the defiant faces surrounding him. "You are all making things infinitely more difficult than they need to be!" he added, his breathing ragged.

"You know what, Daniel?" Aidan said calmly, his composure dangerously still as he took a slow, deliberate step toward the intruder. "We have already proved ourselves completely innocent to you, so take your answers and leave our pack territory immediately!" he added, pointing a commanding finger toward the heavy exit doors.

"I can’t leave alone!" Daniel countered immediately, refusing to budge an inch. He paused, adjusting his stance as his expression hardened into something far more stubborn. "Just allow me to stay here for three days, and then move out with me when the time comes!" he added.

"This doesn’t sound like a mutual agreement anymore, Daniel," I said calmly, tilting my head slightly as I slowly placed my hands deep into my pockets, keeping my posture relaxed yet completely guarded. "It sounds far more like a thinly veiled threat." I paused, letting the heavy accusation hang in the cold air between us. "Are you just trying to feign being convinced of our innocence right now just so you can lead us into a trap?" I asked, staring straight into his eyes to catch any flicker of deceit.

"I am thinking the exact same thing!" Aidan’s voice echoed firmly through the spacious hall, his tone ringing with absolute certainty. "This whole scheme must be a trap!"

"How on earth could this possibly be a trap?" Daniel asked, throwing his head back in disbelief as he let out an exasperated sigh. "You all are severely overthinking this entire plan and making everything sound completely childish!" he said, his voice laced with growing irritation at our relentless suspicion. "If I truly wanted your heads on a pike, I would fight you directly and claim them victoriously with honour on an open battlefield..." He paused, drawing himself up to his full height as a dark pride flashed across his face. "...Why on earth would I ever resort to using cheap deceit?" he asked.
