Normally, all conference attendees were required to stay in the group dormitories arranged by the organizers and were not allowed to go out on their own after dinner. However, there were special exceptions.

"Seraphina, are you really from Sanford? I’ve been complaining about the cold because I’ve lived in Veridia my whole life and can’t handle these temperatures! But you’re a local, why do you feel cold too?" As she spoke, Genevieve Churchill shivered again. ’Whoever said southern winters weren’t cold was a damn liar! If this isn’t cold, then what is?!’

"I can’t stand the cold!" Seraphina Sterling said with a shiver of her own. ’Thank goodness I only have to spend one winter here. If I had to live here long-term, I’d definitely freeze to death!’

The alley wasn’t very wide. The two girls walked slowly forward, the dim yellow light of the streetlamps stretching their shadows long behind them.

Seraphina Sterling’s mind raced. Seeing Simon struggling to dodge attacks in the middle of the scrum, she immediately pulled out her phone and shouted, "I’ve already called the police! They’ll be here any second!"

Genevieve Churchill shot Seraphina a surprised glance. ’That’s her plan?’ she thought. ’And here I was thinking I could finally loosen up my muscles and have a good, satisfying fight!’

However, Seraphina Sterling’s tactic didn’t seem to have any effect. Not only did the four men not leave, but one of them actually pulled out a gun and aimed it right at her!
