A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 238: Never Letting Go (Part 8)

Chapter 238: Chapter 238: Never Letting Go (Part 8)

"Seraphina Sterling! Breathe! Keep your breathing steady! You’ll be fine! Absolutely nothing will happen to you! I won’t let it!" Terrence Grant swept her up and carried her straight back to the car. The Freak Doctor immediately started first aid.

"I knew you’d find me... Don’t worry, I’ll survive." Seraphina Sterling’s face was ashen, her voice a fragile whisper, as if each breath could be her last.

Terrence Grant felt his heart clench in agony. The sight of the crimson blood seared his eyes. Her frame was so small, yet she had lost so much blood! It was as if her body was being drained dry.

"How is she?"

"Not good. Her blood isn’t clotting fast enough. At this rate, even if we give her all the blood we have, it won’t be enough!" The Freak Doctor was drenched in nervous sweat. The Young Master’s expression was terrifying; he couldn’t bear to imagine what would become of him if something happened to Seraphina Sterling.

"To the hospital!" In every previous operation, he had always evacuated with the rest of the team. No exceptions.

For the first time, Terrence Grant was leaving an operation early.

Seraphina Sterling was oblivious, spending a full day and night in the operating room. Terrence Grant waited outside for that entire day and night. Doctors moved in and out, bag after bag of blood was brought in, and the surgical light remained a glaring red, showing no sign of dimming.

The Freak Doctor was a brilliant surgeon. With him at the helm, Terrence should have been relieved. But he was still gripped by a profound fear, worried about a complication, an emergency... worried Seraphina Sterling wouldn’t be able to hold on and would just slip away. ’When she’s better, I’ll keep her right by my side! I have to keep her away from all this danger!’

Even after she was moved to a regular room, Terrence Grant stayed by her side, not daring to blink, terrified that if he did, the woman in the hospital bed would disappear.

Seraphina Sterling felt as if she’d been in a long, long dream. A dream with Justin Hale, Faye Sterling, Zion Hale, and her newborn baby. A grand wedding, a bone-deep loneliness, and in a hospital, a despair that pierced her to the marrow—a heart-shattering, soul-crushing agony. She slowly opened her eyes.

Terrence Grant watched the tears spill from the corners of her eyes and gently wiped them away. "Does it hurt?" he asked, his deep voice slightly hoarse but brimming with masculine charm.

As her eyes adjusted to the light, Terrence Grant’s handsome face came into view. The grief from her dream suddenly washed over her, and the tears fell faster. "It hurts."

"Doctor! Doctor! Doctor!" Terrence Grant frantically wiped at her tears. That one word—"hurts"—threw him into a panic. He had no idea what to do, no idea how to make the pain stop.

The Freak Doctor, having just finished the surgery, had washed up and eaten his fill. His head had barely touched the pillow when he heard Terrence Grant’s summons and came running.

"She’s in a lot of pain. What do we do?" Terrence Grant’s voice was fraught with anxiety.

The Freak Doctor glanced at Seraphina Sterling, who lay in bed with tear-streaked cheeks, and stated with professional calm, "The anesthesia won’t wear off for at least six more hours. She can’t physically feel any pain right now."

"But she said it hurts! I don’t want explanations, I want a solution!" Terrence Grant was deadly serious, completely unwilling to hear the doctor’s reasoning.

’It was like trying to reason with a brick wall!’ he thought. She couldn’t possibly be in pain, not when she was pumped full of anesthetics. There was no solution! But facing Terrence Grant’s dead-serious expression, the Freak Doctor wouldn’t dare defy him, not even if he had ten times the nerve.

"It’s possible the pain is psychological, not physical. You could try talking with her to distract her. That might alleviate it. However, sir, you haven’t slept in two days. As a doctor, I urge you to get some rest. I give you my professional guarantee that Seraphina Sterling is out of danger. As long as she rests properly, she will recover quickly!"

"You can go. I know my own body. You get some rest. If anything happens, I’ll wake you immediately." Having gotten his answer, Terrence Grant started ushering him out.

’Wake me immediately...’ The Freak Doctor felt a chill run down his spine. He wasn’t made of iron; he was exhausted and desperately needed to sleep! The doctor bolted from the room to catch what little rest he could. Terrence Grant wasn’t the type to be considerate. If he said he’d wake him, he would absolutely wake him.

Hearing the Freak Doctor’s words, Seraphina’s thoughts gradually cleared, and the melodrama of her dream began to fade. "Terrence Grant, you should get some rest. I’m fine."

"I’m not tired. Does it still hurt?"

Such a handsome man, his deep voice filled with a tenderness that felt like silk brushing against her heart. His profound eyes were overflowing with a cotton-soft affection that seemed to envelop her. Even Seraphina couldn’t help the frantic beating of her heart. ’If only she had met Terrence Grant in her past life... would her fate have been different?’

But the saddest thing in the world is that there are no "what ifs."

"It really doesn’t hurt. Didn’t the doctor just explain? It’s a good thing you arrived when you did, otherwise I’d probably be reporting to The Underworld by now. Counting the last time, I owe you twice." Seraphina felt a headache coming on. ’Favors are the most difficult debts to repay,’ she thought, ’especially when it’s for saving your life.’

Seeing her brows furrow, Terrence Grant couldn’t resist reaching out to smooth the lines away. "It’s my duty to save you. You’re destined to be my woman, the Young Mistress of the Grant Family. There’s no need to talk about favors when I’m protecting what’s mine."

This topic always gave Seraphina a headache. ’Why is this man so damn persistent!’ She rolled her eyes in exasperation. "I think you have a fetish for little girls. My birthday hasn’t even passed yet. I’m still a minor!" She deliberately emphasized the last three words. ’Mr. Grant of Aethelgard could have any woman he wanted, so why her?’

"I know. Three more months. In three months, we’ll get married!" Terrence Grant declared, his expression serious and his tone absolute. ’This incident had made up his mind. Life was unpredictable; you never knew what the next moment might bring. Since he cared for Seraphina Sterling, since he had set his heart on this girl, he had to keep her firmly in his grasp.’

Seraphina shot him a huge eye-roll. "You can’t legally get married at that age! The marriage bureau won’t approve it."

"So, you’re saying you want to be with me too? It’s just the age that’s the problem, right?" Terrence Grant beamed, a joy welling up from his heart that words could hardly describe. Seraphina had always been the one pushing him away. To suddenly learn she wasn’t entirely against the idea—how could he not be ecstatic?

"I’m certain there was no problem with my phrasing. Where’s your brain?" She had nothing more to say.

"Looks like you’re recovering well." king pushed the door open and entered. Even wrapped in bandages, his good looks were impossible to hide.
