The question of one’s own worth in the world was something that a creature wanted to never face before.
But he knew that he was not truly doing that.
What does anything mean when there is no meaning?
What does anything not mean when there is everything?
The mere thought of actual emptiness within the world and the meaning that was encompassing it all.
He said that probably if he was alone and left out, he would most be with himself.
And as long as the self was there, the only person that he would need was himself and none other.
He said that he needed himself and to be understanding of his own situations and his own point.
He thought long, long before, ’I remember when I first was thrown out into the streets. I remember my first meal. I picked up a burger from the garbage, half eaten. I took a sip from a can of soda that was almost crushed to nothing. I can still remember the taste of the meat. It was rancid. It tasted like it went bad years ago, and I still ate it.’
And that would not change who he was.
He was not a beggar, he was not a lonely person. He was not a person from outside the society that was around him.
Society was the one who shunned him. Society was the one who made his parents die. And society was the only reason he still clung to life, because they helped him or because they actually cared.
’Society itself was a construct, a social construct, a human construct of the way to call.’
’We needed to feel comfortable. We needed to make ourselves into caskets. Societal ones.’
’And we still thought of ourselves as humans who truly care about other human beings. But rather, human beings are truly the beasts of all.’
’Humans are the monsters, not real beasts or actual animals.’
’We are the ones that must be all monsters.’
’If we cannot even help our brothers and sisters in need, and we cannot even help other humans, then what is the meaning of getting rich? What is the meaning of getting powerful, just to continue and make yourself even more?’
’Well, what is the meaning behind all of that?’
He had lived a life of poverty, impoverished, sick, almost dying a couple of times by the hands of others and by the hands of himself.
So what did anything actually mean in this regard?
Li Jiwen fell silent as he was moving.
Then suddenly he planted his own legs into the ground. Although there was no ground, a concept of ground, at this point.
He just looked around. Darkness, all darkness, all engulfing. He did not find any solace within the darkness or the emptiness that was all around.
He laughed like a menacing person.
He said, "Well, as long as humans themselves are not to actually care about themselves, why should I?"
"Why should I see them as non human beings? That is probably why at the very first couple of kills, I consider them NPCs. If they cannot help each other, and they cannot help other humans, and if they cannot help themselves, and those closer to them, then what does anything mean to them?"
"Power, wealth, society, existence, actual reputation. All of that was for nothing. All of that was just for them and the actual want and lust of things that were earthly. But I must seek something other than that!"
"What is the meaning of wealth? What is the meaning of power? What is the meaning of anything if one can truly feel themselves free and walk the path towards their might? It’s a must and do!"
"They should do what they want, without even being conceived at all! To be such powerful, to be such an existence, that is true power and true wisdom and true immortality."
"Although the path is wild and the path is filled with thorns, then I shall pierce them before they pierce me!"
He loved his own menacing look, at the moment. It was the truest moment of all.
He said, "As long as you can face yourself, you still are the beast that they fear. As long as you actually know what you are doing, as long as you know what they will do against you, then you shall know that death was indeed something that was unavoidable to them, but to you it was just an actual try, another trial and error."
Li Jiwen laughed loudly.
Then suddenly he stopped without even a warning or slightly moving down with the pitch.
He just stopped entirely.
Then he said, his own voice low and harsh, "As long as there is society, as long as there are humans, as long as there are actually people who are the same, then one could truly not count on anyone or anything."
"Only one’s own powers were of something. Only one’s own emotion and want is of any reason or meaning. Other than that, everything is meaningless, and they would need to make their own meaning..."
"But does that mean that the one or myself in this regard is the main character of something? Everyone is the main character of their own journey."
"That differs, and I would not say much about that. I have written tens of novels in my time. Although most of them short, I still understand many things of humans and their minds and their philosophies. What can anything mean to you if it does not mean anything to others?"
"What does anything mean to others if it meant everything to you?"
"Meaning is something that we created. Meaning is something that we want to grow together with. Meaning is something that is of our own."
"Every person is their own island. The waves around the island is their own dreams, wants, and actual goals. When these waves collide with each other between the islands, people make connections. People make love, people make hate, people make animosity."
"All these actual things, be they mental or physical, are just the movement of waves between these isles. And we humans are the isles themselves."
"But what does anything mean if an isle is lonely, far away from any other wave? Will its waves just hit each other and make confusion?"
"Will it make meaninglessness and meaningless unaudible and unfathomable things?"
"Well, what does anything mean if there is nothing even to interact with and make meaning?"
"Then one, the I in this regard, shall make its own meaning, its own means, and collide them with itself!"
