Knowing that the hunters would not let him go at any cost, Li Jiwen understood that this life had already ended at this point.
All he was going to do was to get as much as possible out of this life and get as many high level resources as he could.
He understood that now, with the actual heavenly calamity dawning upon him, much closer and much nearer than he had ever expected.
Li Jiwen knew that now was the time to make as much as possible out of this life and out of this try.
He thought, looking at the heavens themselves, and said, "Well, that’s life."
The time he had spent alone within the Changdu space had made him much more indifferent to other lives and other people other than himself.
As he was thinking about different things, whether it be his life, his people, or his own mind as well, he only lived for about twenty five years.
But he had already had much experience with the world.
Whether it be because he was an orphan or because he was on the streets for years and just passing by and almost dying three times, he had already seen the darkness of the human world.
He had seen the darkness of humans themselves, let alone this world of cultivation.
He understood that if you wanted to survive, you must be powerful.
If you are weak, then you are destined to be killed and abused.
He did not stop and decided that he would go to the central continent where the Fang family was and see if Fang Liu was still surviving or had already been destroyed by the heavenly path.
He disappeared through the void and with hundreds of steps after another, he finally reached the central continent.
His body was already showing signs of disintegration in some areas as it was being too harshly abused at this moment.
Li Jiwen understood that if he did not find Fang Liu, he would just plunder the Fang family.
He appeared as his white hair flown through the air.
Above him the Eye of Judgment looked as if it was looking down on all life and all creatures.
All were nothing in front of the Dao.
All were lesser, all were ants against true power.
Li Jiwen did not hesitate and came closer, his red eyes showing with smarts and wit.
Finally he found the continent that was floating through the air where the Fang family headquarters was.
The only thing that he found there were corpses that had already long been dead.
The only things that were left were destroyed ruins of the past glory of the Fang family.
He felt a familiar aura, but far, far, far away from this place.
At least in the very actual outside look of things, it was far away, but in the meantime it was too close as well, weirdly enough.
He knew that this was another place and another space time entirely that Fang Liu was in.
He disappeared through the void step and appeared in another space as he broke through it and looked around.
He saw Fang Liu, already dying, half corpse and his body already charred beyond recognition.
As Fang Liu saw the appearance of someone in the place, his sword appeared in his hand.
His weak body almost collapsing to nothingness, he came closer to Li Jiwen, and as he felt the familiar aura, he said, "It’s you, fellow Taoist. It’s been years. The world is a harsher place now. You have not changed a bit in your aura. Well, it looks like you have not changed much?"
Li Jiwen smiled at his old friend and said, "Spent some time in seclusion, fellow Taoist."
Fang Liu did not have enough power even to hold his sword.
Most of his own cultivation had already disappeared just to maintain his own existence.
He barely lived at all.
His voice shook the entirety of the pocket space, and he said, "I’ve been waiting for you. I knew you would come. Finally, I’ve done what I was doing in this life."
He collapsed to the ground as his weak body began to disappear even more, like an old bark of a tree.
Li Jiwen came closer and held him up and said, "Fellow Taoist, may I ask what exactly you were waiting for?"
Fang Liu’s eyes shone slightly with light, although most of the actual light within them had dimmed.
He said, his voice weak, "Father. My father told me to wait for you here. The heavenly immortal could see things beyond the normal scope. Before dying, he had already seen in this place, waiting for you. He said that I must give you everything that the family has and to tell you one thing. And I quote, the heavenly path is not going to survive this. And you are the key."
Li Jiwen’s eyes shone with a dangerous light.
He could feel that fate itself had already shaped his own existence and linked it to others and his own as well.
This was weird, but he understood that fate itself worked in mysterious ways.
He did not like the feeling of being a puppet to fate.
He just looked at Fang Liu and said, "Fellow Taoist, I appreciate the gesture. But the world is already ending. What can I even do? I am just a small cultivator, so young. If I did anything, I would not even survive. You understand that, right?"
Fang Liu laughed at him and said, "Well, father said so, so I just..."
Before he could even continue the sentence, his body withered completely.
With a small breath, he said, "Fellow Taoist, I wish that you can actually save this world. Humans, creatures of lower existences that have no power, all deserve a life..."
"All deserve their own path and their own fate."
"Why must the heavens decide for us?!"
"Why cannot we do that ourselves? Why should we be puppets within the hands of fate?!"
"We humans want to live. We want to choose our own path. We want to continue living. What is the meaning of anything if everything had already been written long ago?!"
