When Leo told them to introduce themselves, the top 10 students immediately noticed something. But they waited for the introductions to be finished.
It was Sylrael first.
"I am Sylrael, a wood elf. My master is Lord Leo." She made a respectful bow.
Then it was Miho.
"I am Miho, and my rank is 690 in the freshman leaderboard."
Everybody raised an eyebrow when Miho revealed her ranking. This was the issue.
"690? Are you kidding me? She looks as strong as me!" Uraan exclaimed.
"She doesn't just look strong; she is. She was just too busy training and didn't pay attention to increasing her rank," Kaelion said.
"And what about her? I don't seem to sense any strength from her if she is a possible candidate that you have brought to fill a slot," Uraan asked.
"Well, let's pause for a while. How about we get seated first?" Tavian said, gesturing for Leo and the group to take their seats so they could discuss.
However, he gave a look at Sylrael.
Is she one of those strong elves that Leo talked about? Tavian thought about Sylrael, recalling that Leo had slaves in the 4-star realm whom he had personally seen.
Everybody did as Tavian said and sat down as they got busy with the small desserts and drinks that Brant had ordered.
Well, everybody except the 3 healers, Rhaegar, Sylrael, and Miho.
Because it was among them that the 5 slots would be selected.
After a while, discussions resumed.
"What do you mean by why I can't sense Leo, Lily, or Leon's strength?" Ronan repeated Tavian's words.
"Isn't it obvious that they are way stronger than me?"
"Exactly, and what about Lady Sylrael?" Tavian asked.
"Well, I cannot sense her strength because she doesn't seem to have—" Ronan realised something mid-sentence as his eyes widened at the implication.
And not just Ronan, but everybody else did as well.
The implication was becoming more evident as Tavian addressed a slave respectfully.
Aaron mechanically turned his head towards Leo.
"L-Leo, what's her strength rank?" he asked, hoping that it would be something believable.
"Mid 4-star," Leo simply replied while sipping his tea.
It wasn't believable.
"Wait!" Uraan raised his hand in panic.
"Don't you know we aren't allowed to have any slaves accompany us in the competition if they aren't personally captured by us alone?"
At that, Brant spoke up.
"Don't worry, we have all the video records. And except the Gnomes in his territory, everybody else has been personally captured by him... including this elf, who is indeed at Mid 4-star strength rank. The authorities have already given the green light."
Uraan and the others couldn't believe their ears.
"Haha, I was similarly shocked when I got to know that. As a matter of fact, he has a few more of similar strength. Simply monsters." Tavian shook his head with a sigh.
"What!"
"There are more?!"
Uraan turned towards Leo.
"Where are they? Don't tell me you aren't planning to bring them just to defend your territory from non-existent attacks. We have perfect immunity!"
This time, it was Leo who was taken aback, and Lily and Kaelion were too.
"What do you mean by that?" Leo asked.
Uraan calmed himself down a bit and spoke up.
"I mean, not trying to be forceful, but if you have similar strong forces, why haven't you brought them? I mean, she is an Academy student." Uraan gestured towards Miho.
"And with her strength, I doubt she will have trouble securing a spot in the 10 slots that will be filled tomorrow and the day after by capable individuals through matches that we will supervise. Heck, I bet she can even defeat Aaron and Ronan."
"Hey!" Ronan shot back, but he had to agree with Uraan's words. Though he couldn't be sure if his beasts were out, in a 1v1, Miho might win.
Even the others, like Lyra, Dhalia, and Marco, agreed.
"Wait." Leo stopped him.
"Are you saying you will allow me to fill the 5 personalised slots with my people? Wouldn't that be unfair to you all? Like, most of the rewards will be gobbled up by me."
Uraan shook his head.
"Of course not all, but if what Tavian said is true, we can definitely agree to 3 out of 5. Like, a Mid 4-star combatant is literally capable of taking on all of us together, so this directly increases our chances of winning," Uraan explained on behalf of the others.
"As for gobbling up all the rewards, we need to win the competition in order for you to do that. What good will it be if we lose the chance to win just because we were selfish?" Uraan thought about it for a moment.
"Uh... Well, we are selfish considering that 2 of the slots are going to us. But hey, as the leader, you should definitely have 3 for yourself."
Leo was actually surprised to hear all that. They were a lot more sensible than he expected. Not to mention, everybody agreed with Uraan's words, and he could bet Tavian was even thinking of giving all 5 slots to Leo.
But of course, that would be taking it too far and not good for future relations.
And he also liked the suggestion of Miho entering through the 10 slots meant to be filled by other capable students. This would allow Leo to choose 3 people from his territory.
"Well, I won't hear any disagreement later on. Is it confirmed that I can fill 3 slots with my people?" Leo asked for the last confirmation.
They looked at each other, and then Aaron asked a question.
"What are their type and strength rank? The ones you have decided."
Then Leo began explaining.
"First and most important is Sylrael; she has wood affinity and has very high proficiency in using a bow. Additionally, she has an excellent support talent that..."
Leo gave a detailed explanation of why Sylrael would be necessary, and everybody couldn't help but be amazed by her abilities.
"Damn... this means she can also act as a great healer... this solves a major problem," Ronan muttered and looked towards one of the healers.
That person's condition didn't look that good after exerting himself. All 3 flinched under Ronan's gaze.
"You can go; your capabilities aren't up to mark."
"I-I ca—"
"Go," Ronan said again, this time seriously, and the man had no choice but to leave.
Now, only 2 people were left, one being the Peak 2-star healer and the other a Pseudo 3-star.
By all rights, a Pseudo 3-star healer would have been better, but Aaron sent him away.
"His healing skills have a light attribute that dispels negative effects; he is more necessary."
The Pseudo 3-star healer simply nodded dejectedly and walked away. The was no way he could object the decision from gods of the Aurelius Beast Academy.
"I-I am Plato, a light and wood affinity healer. Pleased to meet a-all."
This particular man was from Tavian's territory.
Healers were so necessary for the team that they were ready to sacrifice 3 slots, which could have been filled with stronger combatants. But Sylrael's presence solved the issue. She was a Mid 4-star healer capable of literally reviving other top 10 students due to the rank gap.
But since Sylrael didn't have the light attribute, the last healer was kept.
Tsk, if [Nature's Heal] had light capabilities, we could have another slot free... But that will probably happen when the skill evolves. Even Zharrissa isn't aware of light-related spells... Leo thought.
But there was nothing that could be done now. Even if weak, a light user was indeed necessary.
Leo then offered a couple of options for the other students to consider.
Though he already had things in mind, it was better to make a collective decision.
