Leo looked at the weapons and considered his choices.
Only 2 swords and 1 dagger in 5-star meant these weapons were rare to come by, and that meant they were expensive as hell.
With the Pseudo Yellow-tier dagger and sword evaluated at nearly 50 Million AC and the Low Yellow-tier sword at a staggering 200 Million AC. And it was actually on the lower end because the weapon didn't seem to carry any special abilities.
A single ability, and the price would have shot up more than double.
This was the importance of equipment in the later stages of star rank. Even people like Brant didn't have any weapons yet because he hadn't found something capable enough to be crafted to his level.
But then Leo recalled Brant's words.
"Choose whatever you can carry."
He didn't think twice before taking all three.
Brant let out a chuckle while watching that scene.
"Good, he is adhering to our words to be greedy."
Since Leo's selection was over, he waited for the others to finish theirs. And it seemed that the academy was feeling rather benevolent, considering slaves like Sylrael and Thalvyr were also allowed to choose a weapon of their choice.
"Well, good for me. If I needed to handle all the expenses, it would make me broke... more than broke. I would need to sell some stuff..."
Leo suddenly recalled that he indeed had some things to sell.
Like all the bones and body weapons carried by the beasts he hunted in the Ember family's secret realm. The horns of the boar and the bones of the Pyroclast Drake after his beasts ate up all the meat.
"Well, who knows. I might have their uses..." Leo muttered, deciding to save them for emergency expenses if the situation arose.
But Leo couldn't help but notice that the system had only responded to crafted equipment whose rank was in the Yellow (5) tier. Similar to Tavian's Yellow-tier Gridfall Array Staff
Does something happen when one reaches 5-star rank? Leo thought before realizing he was already at 5-star rank and nothing had happened.
This thought only became more convincing due to the substantial jump in the pricing of the tools starting from 5-star. Where a Peak 4-star normal weapon chosen by Lily would have cost around 5 Million AC, a Pseudo 5-star became 50 Million.
Leo's stats:
{Stats in brackets [4000] are his total feedback from beasts, and stats outside of it are his personal stats. When both are added, that will be Leo's total stat. But other people can only sense the feedback from beast's—meaning 4000 stat points. Not his base stats since its protected by system as well as the trait and talent boosts because no one can.}
Vitality: 3970 + [4000] + {50% boost (Optional)}
Strength: 3960 + [4000] + {90% boost (Optional)}
Agility: 3950 + [4000] + {140% boost (Optional)}
Stamina: 3900 + [4000] + {190% boost (Optional)}
Intelligence: 7270 + [4000] + {50% boost (Optional)}
Mana: 799,700 + [440,000]
There, he noticed something.
Wait... now that I see it, my base stats haven't actually crossed the 5-star mark... heck, even my highest stat, which is Intelligence, is at Pseudo rank...
Though Leo didn't know what was supposed to happen, he had a feeling that something fundamental would change within him after reaching 5-star rank properly.
He recalled the incident when Brant had crashed into his territory during the King-tier Beast migration, and how Brant was actually way younger than his looks suggested. But somehow, he couldn't figure out what Brant and Katherine were talking about.
"The world... looks like I need to keep getting stronger to get to the core of things."
By now, everybody had already selected their weapons.
Funny enough, except for the people with slave status, all had opted to take more than 1 weapon. Even Tavian, who already had his Yellow-tier Gridfall Array staff, had chosen another staff.
Lily herself had taken two swords, both strapped at either side of her waist.
Kaelion had chosen a pair of gauntlets. One he wore, and the other he held in his hands.
Everybody couldn't resist this chance because weapons were rare to come by, especially high-ranking ones like these.
Not to mention, everything was free, with the only limit being carrying capacity.
But if the total value were to be calculated, it would actually cross the 500 Million mark, with Leo alone taking up to 300 Million.
"HAHAHAHA!" Brant laughed.
"It's always the same, no matter the batch. Good, that's what is expected. You should always be greedy for more."
After that, Brant took them to another place and handed them a set of academy uniforms made out of spirit clothes. Though Leo did notice that the clothes handed to slaves like Sylrael, Thalvyr, and Rhaegar had a different sort of dragon crest on the dress. There were different-colored crests for the top 10 students and other students too.
Silver Dragon Crest at the back for the top 10 students.
Red Dragon Crest at the back for other students who were chosen by the top 10.
Yellow Dragon Crest for slave individuals like Sylrael, Thalvyr, and Rhaegar.
"This is the dress you will be wearing during the whole duration of the competition. I think everybody already knows what spirit threads are and the capabilities of clothes made by them, so that's that. You are dismissed."
With that, everybody excitedly left for their territory, eager to try out the new clothes. They never expected they would get clothes made out of spirit fibers. Even if they were locked to the academy uniform color, they had their own elegance and authority.
Not to mention, now there was no worry of suddenly getting naked in the middle of the competition because some stray flame attack burned their clothes.
Brant had Leo stay back because he needed to check something.
"Hold the Low-Yellow-tier sword. I need to check something," Brant said.
Leo did the same, and Brant looked over Leo's figure.
"It's good..."
After that, Brant held Leo's extended hand and used aura infusion, using Leo's arm as an intermediary. It was successful as the sword gave a low hum and was coated with bluish aura.
"It's all good, you can go," Brant said with a satisfied nod.
Realizing he hadn't explained himself, Brant spoke again.
"I was just checking if the weapon was suited for your strength level. You seemed to have chosen a weapon way higher than your strength allows... looks like I misjudged," Brant said with a smile.
But that sent an electric current through Leo.
"Uh... well, I think..."
"No need to explain. We understand there are some secrets that shouldn't be shared. Though... what we have figured out is that, it must be some sort of ability that lets you copy the traits of your beasts. Because Gunther's sharp senses caught the lesser draconic aura around you after you must have forgotten to turn things off."
Leo grimaced.
There was really very little he could hide from them. But on the plus side, having this ability of trait copy revealed gave him the perfect excuse to hide the existence of the system.
With that, Brant finally allowed Leo to leave. But not before informing him of something.
"Vice Principal Tarun had almost finished tracking the thing that you requested. Expect good news soon."
