Lunaria created a foothold mid-air, took a high jump, and threw a barrage of wind blades at the wind clone.

But the clone's body simply ate up all the attacks and actually strengthened from the wind-based assault. And while the clone was still ascending toward the spirit hound, the wind blades it had absorbed circulated through its body and launched back at Lunaria.

Lunaria twisted her body mid-air to dodge the multiple blades, but some of them hit her, chipping her spirit body gruesomely. Even though there was no blood, it was clear how severe the wounds were.

But the clone still hadn't stopped ascending.

Before Lunaria could regain her balance, the azure Amphithere swallowed her body whole.

"Lunaria!" Lily shouted and tried calling down the black lightning.

But Lunaria had already done that, and a thick bolt of black lightning crashed onto the clone.

The lightning disrupted the clone's flowing tubular currents of wind, allowing Lunaria to throw herself away from its grasp.

When she appeared, everybody was shocked to see that Lunaria was almost dead, her spirit body cracked from the severity of the damage.

Lily promptly unsummoned her.

The distorted clone's structure immediately did a roundabout to fix its body once again.

WOOOOORRRSSSHHHHH!!!

An extremely thick pillar of flames tore through the sky aimed at the clone.

In a moment, the whole of the clone's body was covered in a torrent of flames released by Leo. The flames were so intense and powerful that they continued along their path and even struck the ice cage, immediately starting to melt it.

"Damn this kid," Tarun muttered and teleported to the location, then promptly halted the melting and prevented the cage from collapsing.

"Did his skill already advance in tiers?" Tarun wondered aloud.

Brant only chuckled from the side.

"How long did it take for your first favourite skill to advance?"

Tarun's face darkened at Brant's taunt.

"3 Decades... but are you trying to look down on your big brother? Missing some ass-whooping like the old times?" Tarun asked.

Brant coughed.

"Of course not. How could I ever look down on you? I'm simply trying to say that this new generation of kids are simply monsters."

"Well, that's true... I still recall when my [Blizzard] skill evolved into [Spiked Blizzard]. I couldn't control my happiness."

Brant also reminisced about those days.

"Yeah, you were so uncontrollable that the principal himself had to step in, just in case your skill experimentation ended up destroying a city. Spikes... so memorable, making even the surrounding trees and hills look like porcupines after the skill's usage."

Tarun looked at Brant with a sidelong glance.

"You indeed need a good beating... I guess I need to resume my yearly training sessions..."

Brant didn't opt to respond and quickly pointed at the students.

"Look! That brat finished that [Tempest Phantom] with a single attack!"

Tarun simply rolled his eyes and focused back on the scene. And indeed, the clone died from a single attack of [Solarflare Torrent].

The Spirit Amphithere panicked and tried using its skill once again, but it suddenly realised its mana had already been exhausted.

Being a temporary summon, it needed to maintain itself and use all sorts of skills with the same amount of mana Lily used to sustain it every minute. Meaning 17,500 mana units per minute.

The spirit was forced to fly around to avoid the attacks directed at it, and Leo and the others were simply amazed by how graceful its movements looked as it manoeuvred through the air.

When the minute passed and its mana was replenished, it once again summoned a Tempest Phantom, but Leo defeated the thing the very next moment. Contrary to Spirit Amphithere, the clone didn't need to be kept alive, thus the insta-kill.

It was once again forced to dodge attacks only. At some point, it considered attacking Lily, who was continually trying to contract it.

But the moment it reached near her, she also manoeuvred around its body to dodge whatever attack it was doing. Even if it was a spirit, it still had some degree of physical impact that might throw Lily a distance.

But when Lily successfully dodged its multiple attempts to hit her, it performed a clever manoeuvre and launched a surprise attack from its tail end, which it had never done before.

Lily was squarely hit on the side of her body and flung away. The beast even seemed to have infused the attack with wind, launching her directly toward the cage's end.

Leo tried approaching her, but the Amphithere targeted Leo next.

It tried performing the same clever maneuver on Leo, but—

THAMM!!

Crack—

Leo gave a devastating punch right on the tail, sending the tail recoiling in one direction and himself flying away in the other. But the most damage was done to the tail, which was almost on the verge of falling apart.

Bhhooosss...

In the distance, Leo crashed hard into the icy columns, sending ice debris flying in random directions and icy mist rising around him.

But the next second, denser clouds gathered in the sky, and multiple columns of black lightning descended on the spirit beast.

"Oh crap, she's losing it," Leo muttered as Kaelion cleverly withdrew from the icy cage. It simply wasn't of much use here, and Lily's attacks had a high chance of hitting him since he was in the path of the lightning.

The fight had already been going on for more than an hour, and Leo had replenished Lily's mana once. And with how stubborn these draconic beasts were, Leo was sure they were going to be busy the whole day.

And that's exactly what happened.

Morning turned into afternoon, afternoon turned into evening, and the evening turned into the next day.

Both Leo and Lily had decided they wouldn't leave unless Lily contracted this thing. Even if it meant being late for the Competition Ceremony.

Even the next day came to an end. The time even crossed the midnight mark, and it was almost the dawn of 30th April.

In the sky, Tarun, Brant, and Kaelion were leisurely sitting on a wind platform, enjoying their own company as they watched the couple struggle.

"Gulp—ah!" Tarun finished drinking a good wine and wiped his mouth.

"Prince Kaelion, do you have any idea how much mana these two even have? You have been living with them for quite a while."

Kaelion shook his head while lying down, half-asleep.

"No, Vice Principal. The only thing I am aware of is that I shouldn't question their abilities, or else I might get some sort of existential crisis."

"Quite the clever approach. Even we old fogies are having a hard time..." At that moment, Tarun noticed a shift in the spirit's temperament.

"Finally, guess it's about time..."

He said that because—

"Leo, stop!" Lily shouted from a distance. She was huffing wildly from how tired she was.

As for Leo, he was about to deliver a hammer punch on the beast's head when he stopped at Lily's words.

"I successfully contracted it!" she declared.
