Chapter 32: 32.This is actually my second life-1

Mylo sat staring at Reina. He had carried her up to her hostel room and placed her gently on her own bed.

She didn’t have any visible injuries, but was still completely unconscious.

He guessed those ruffians had used some kind of chemical to knock her out.

Sitting on the opposite bed, his legs trembled slightly as questions flooded his mind.

What would have happened if he hadn’t been there?

It was pure coincidence that he happened to pass by right as they were kidnapping her.

If he hadn’t shown up, a tragedy would have occurred, one whose pain he couldn’t even bear to imagine.

I can feel it... I’ve gotten stronger.

It’s only a little bit, but the difference is clear.

Still, it’s not enough.

There’s no way I could have kept fighting them if they had decided to stay.

I wasn’t even able to use my ability when I tried, I will explore it’s machenism later.

Standing up, he walked over to her side and gently caressed her cheek.

His eyes fell on a volume sitting on her bedside table.

It was a manga, set aside with its cover facing up.

Glancing toward an open drawer, he noticed several more volumes neatly stacked inside.

’’It probably hasn’t even been a week since she moved here, and she’s already collected this many,’’ he mused quietly.

Taking one last look at her, Mylo pulled the thin blanket over her shoulders and quietly stepped out of the room.

He walked downstairs and headed toward the hostel entrance, where two women were whispering nervously to each other.

"How could you just let him go up like that?!"

"Look, he was furious, alright? What was I supposed to do?"

The moment Mylo stepped into view, both of them shut their mouths and stared at him.

A grey-haired, elderly, but fierce-looking woman spoke up, her voice filled with anger and authority.

"If you don’t leave this hostel right now, I’m calling security!"

Mylo ran a hand back through his hair and stepped toward her, his wide eyes locked dead-set on hers.

He spoke in a calm, controlled voice, though the rage beneath it was glaringly apparent.

"There is a girl in your hostel," Mylo said.

"Two guys walked right in here, somehow managed to drag her out of her room, and carried her all the way through this building and off the premises without anyone noticing.’’

His gaze wide fixed on her eyes.

’’What do you have to say about that... Warden Amantha?"

"We will investigate it, okay?! We’ll find out how it happened and step up security! But right now, you have to go! You cannot stay inside a girls’ hostel!’’

’’Whatever further investigation needs to happen, we will follow through with it. If you have any other problem, take it up with the director! Now, if you don’t leave this instant, I’m calling security!"

Hearing her response, Mylo sighed in deep disappointment.

"You’re really going to play it like that, huh?" he said, his voice dripping with venom.

"Your job is supposed to be taking care of the girls here, making sure they’re safe. And yet, you let something like that happen."

"What are you talking about?!" Amantha shouted back. "No one allowed anything to happen! Stop pointing fingers at us wrongfully!"

"Wrongfully?" Mylo scoffed, stepping closer. "You think you can play this off just because there’s no proof? Quit playing games.’’

’’Not even a kid would believe your bullshit. It’s blatantly obvious that you allowed this to happen, you and this caretaker of yours."

Mylo’s furious voice echoed loudly through the hallway. His piercing gaze shifted toward the caretaker standing beside Amantha, making her quickly shrink back and hide behind the warden.

"Listen here. Look at me," Mylo growled, his face twisting into a cold, terrifying glare that thoroughly unnerved Amantha.

"I’m not just going to let this go. You understand me? Neither of you is getting out of this without consequences."

"I... I... I told you, we had no hand in this..."

Amantha failed to form a coherent sentence, her trembling hands giving away her panic. Her downward gaze cleary should the dishonest nature of her words.

Before Mylo could snap at her again, a sharp feminine voice echoed down the hallway.

"Hey, you,Mr. Angry."

Mylo whipped his head around. A blonde girl stood a short distance away, one hand resting on her hip.

"Get back in your room," Mylo barked, pointing a finger at her. "I’m in the middle of an important conversation with the warden here."

The girl’s ponytail swayed as she scoffed in response. "Stop scaring the old woman. Look, I overheard what you guys were talking about, and I actually know something about it. If you want to talk, come into my room."

Without waiting for an answer, she turned on her slipperand slipped inside Room 45, just a few doors down the hall.

A look of sheer confusion crossed Mylo’s face. He turned back to glare at Amantha.

"When I get back out here, I want you right where you’re standing. Remember that, okay? Don’t even think about leaving if you value yourself."

Leaving her with that final warning, Mylo marched down the hallway and stepped inside Room 45.

Unlike the standard two-person hostel rooms, this single unit had only a solitary bed. The blonde girl was dressed in denim shorts and a black crop top, sitting in her desk chair with her legs casually crossed.

"Take a seat and calm down. I don’t need my room boiling over because of you, Mr. Angry," she said, gesturing playfully toward an empty chair.

Still in angry mode, Mylo locked the door behind him and did as she asked.

Even though I already know who did this and why, if I actually want to handle this properly, I need to gather real evidence and investigate.

Someone who claims to know what happened, and is actually willing to talk, could prove to be crucial down the line.

Sitting down on the chair, Mylo got straight to the point.

"So... what do you know about those people?"
