Absolute Loser Becomes The Pleasure King Using Satan System
Chapter 39.The common face of misery-1Chapter 39: 39.The common face of misery-1
His stomach churned in a weird, uncomfortable knot.
His heart was pumping faster than usual, hammering against his ribs as his fingers tightened their grip on his knees.
His temple was covered in a thin layer of fresh sweat.
Beneath the desk, his leg bounced in a continuous, restless rhythm.
Every words escaping Aldoff’s mouth was bringing in the memories Mylo had tried to avoid.
Unable to sit still any longer, Mylo stood up and squeezed past Mac.
"Hey... need to use the bathroom," he muttered quickly.
He moved along the aisle, feeling a few stray eyes digging into his back as he exited the lecture hall.
Aldoff’s eyes lingered on the student for a moment who left in the middle of speech.
At first, Mylo kept a steady pace, but as soon as he cleared the doors, his steps turned into a rushed stride down the quiet hallway.
Bursting into the bathroom, he made a beeline for the sink, only to stop, turn right back around, and throw the lock into place behind him.
He stumbled toward the sink, eyes down avoiding mirror.
The sheer weight of his complex emotions surged up his throat and burst through his mouth as he gagged, vomiting violently into the basin.
His hands gripped the edges of the porcelain counter so tightly his fingers turned white.
Acid scorched his throat, and the sharp, fiery burn of stomach fluid ran up through his nose, making his chest heave.
Tears welled in his eyes, blurring his vision as his body convulsed over the sink.
He only consumed fruits from his fridge, his stomach still mainly empty.
Yet, it felt as if his stomach was violently trying to tear itself inside out.
His head slowly moved up, his tear-filled eyes finally meeting the cold surface of the mirror.
But there was no reflection of himself.
Instead, he saw a boy similar to him sitting alone.
White powder and ground chalk covered his hair and face.
Behind the boy, a woman lay motionless on the floor, a dark red shadow of blood pooling outward from her body.
The boy dipped his small hand into the crimson pool.
Then, he slowly turned his head and looked straight at Mylo through the glass.
Breathing heavily, Mylo raised his trembling hand toward the boy.
Their fingertips met right at the glass surface.
Suddenly, another violent wave of nausea surged from deep inside him.
Mylo dropped his head back into the sink, gagging hard.
But nothing came up except a bitter trace of stomach acid.
Shaking, he reached out, turned the tap on full blast, and splashed cold water over his burning face, trying to wash away the vision.
That’s not going to happen. Not this time.
His breath hitching as he stared into the glass.
Instead of turning away, he forced himself to meet the warped reflection head-on.
I ran away.
Yeah. I look pathetic.
’’You can’t look like this. I fear this face. So, never do that again.’’
I can’t do that again.
I can’t do that.
I can’t do that.
I need to...
He blinked hard, translucent red screen glowing in his peripheral vision, displaying his daily quest.
Taking a deep, grounding breath, Mylo gave his reflection a firm, decisive nod.
Then, wiping the remaining water from his face, he turned and walked out of the bathroom.
Stepping out into the hallway, Mylo felt somewhat composed.
He took a steadying breath and began making his way back toward the lecture hall.
"Mylo?"
A gentle, sweet voice called out behind him.
He turned to see Miss Chloe walking over.
"Miss Chloe," he said, pausing. "What are you doing out here?"
"I saw you leaving the hall earlier, so I came to check on you," she said, looking at him with genuine concern.
"Are you feeling alright? I thought... well, you didn’t look well just now. So, I thought I would stick around."
"Ah, please don’t worry, I just..." Mylo cut himself off, catching his own lie before it slipped out.
He sighed softly.
"No, you’re right. I was feeling a bit under the weather. But I’m okay now. Thank you for asking."
He took a half-step back toward the hall.
"I should probably head back inside. Would it be alright if I catch up with you later?"
"Oh, yes, of course," Miss Chloe replied, offering a warm smile. "I’m always around campus if you need anything."
Nodding, Mylo turned and walked back into the lecture room.
The atmosphere inside had completely shifted.
The formal speeches were over, and the room had dissolved into casual chatter as students began mingling.
Groups of freshers were nervously striking up conversations with seniors, while others were already breaking off to explore on their own.
Mylo caught the eye of his three seatmates.
He gave them a firm nod, signaling for them to wait a moment, then turned and began threading his way toward a crowded section of the hall.
Over by the edge of the crowd, the student representative, Aldoff Vance, was effortlessly chatting with a group of freshers.
Mylo squeezed through the cluster of students and stepped directly in front of him.
He opened his mouth to speak, but the words caught in his throat for a second.
Aldoff’s sharp blue eyes swept over to Mylo, a polite smile immediately touching his lips.
"Hey, you, you’re the one who walked out earlier, right? Man, I hope my speech wasn’t that boring," he teased, his smooth charisma lighting up the space between them.
Mylo’s eyes locked onto his.
His jaw clenched tight, but he forced himself to raise his hand for a handshake, keeping his composure intact.
"Of course that wasn’t the case," Mylo replied smoothly. "I just really needed to use the washroom. I’m Mylo Zane."
Aldoff reached out and wrapped his fingers around Mylo’s in a firm, solid grip.
"Nice to meet you, Zane."
"Actually, I really wanted to talk with you, Senior Aldoff," Mylo said, his voice steady despite the tension coiled in his chest.
"Is that so, what did you want to talk about?" Aldoff asked, maintaining his effortless demeanor.
"It’s about your younger brother, Braden Vance."
For a split second, the surrounding seniors froze, glancing toward Mylo in collective shock at his sheer boldness!
All while their handshake remained locked between them, a silent contest of wills.
Aldoff’s smile stretched even wider.
"I see. Please, carry on."
"There was a bit of a dispute between us yesterday," Mylo continued calmly.
"He approached a friend of mine in a... rather unmannered way, and he left us with a threat. I was wondering if you could talk to him about it."
A senior standing barely a meter away stared with bulging eyes, as if unable to believe what he was hearing!
Nearby freshers picked up on the sudden spike in tension and quietly drifted back, clearing the space around Mylo.
"Oh, my," Aldoff said, shaking his head with exaggerated sympathy.
"That must have been very inconvenient for you. But please, don’t worry, I’ll speak with him. You shouldn’t take his words too seriously. He’s just a young man acting out, you know?"
"Ah, don’t worry, I didn’t take them personally," Mylo replied smoothly, matching his tone.
"I just didn’t want things to escalate unnoticed. After all, a situation like that could end up being damaging, to me, to my friends, and to your family’s reputation."
"Ha ha! Well, isn’t that thoughtful of you?"
Aldoff laughed softly, his eyes narrowing just a fraction.
"As I said, you don’t need to worry about it any longer. I’ll make sure he properly apologizes for his actions to both you and her."
As he spoke the word friend, Aldoff’s gaze briefly flicked over Mylo’s shoulder, lingering on someone behind him.
Mylo’s heart jolted. His grip on Aldoff’s hand instinctively tightened in sudden shock!
And in response, Aldoff instantly increased his own strength, crushing Mylo’s fingers in a firm, unrelenting hold.
"Well then, I certainly hope to see you at the freshers’ party," Aldoff said softly, his voice remaining pleasant.
"Since you weren’t there yesterday, you probably missed the details. Make sure to catch up on them with your friend."
"Yes, of course," Mylo said, his expression locked tight. "Why wouldn’t I be there? I’ll be looking forward to it."
Finally, their hands parted.
Aldoff’s perfect, immaculate smile remained fixed in place as Mylo turned and began walking back.
This time, the crowd of students parted instantly, no longer blocking his path.
