Chapter 74.Feelings That Need Rediscovery-8Chapter 74: 74.Feelings That Need Rediscovery-8
"I was really feeling lost back there," Mylo continued softly. "For a moment... I thought I had completely given up."
Raising his arm, he wrapped it gently around her shoulders, pulling her closer.
"But you came. You came and saved me, Tritia."
As he gently caressed her tangled hair, Tritia lifted her head.
In the deep dark of the shelter, they could barely make out the outlines of each other’s faces, yet for some reason, her vivid scarlet eyes shone with perfect clarity in the dark.
"Thank you, Tritia," Mylo murmured, staring straight into her eyes. "Thank you for coming back for me."
His embrace tightened, pulling her firmly into a warm, protective hold. Closing her eyes, Tritia buried her face into his shoulder and leaned her entire weight into him.
There were still endless questions burning between them, so many unspoken truths and mysterious developments they needed to understand about one another. But in that quiet, hidden nook beneath the rocks, all of it faded away.
Their thoroughly exhausted bodies and battered minds only needed the quiet comfort they provided each other.
In that fleeting moment, neither of them wanted or needed anything else. Resting in each other’s arms, they simply let a rare, deep peace wash over their hearts as the clock slowly ticked by in the dark.

Mylo opened his eyes slowly, his body still screaming at him to keep them shut.
Oh, look who’s finally awake.
A familiar voice drawled.
Guess you had a great nap.
Standing nearby, his older self watched him.
With a tired sigh, Mylo deliberately ignored him.
You’ve gone and wrapped another girl around your finger. Don’t you feel bad about it at all? Look at her. The state she’s in is entirely your fault. For your own selfish goals, she went and risked her life. Don’t you feel even a shred of guilt for her?
Mylo clenched his jaw, refusing to look up.
Well, I guess it works out even better for you, doesn’t it? Now you can keep making excuses to chase that false goal in your head.
Keep deceiving yourself. Sooner or later, that mirror holding your fake purpose will shatter. Its shards will stab right into you and give you the painful closure you deserve.
thump!
Mylo slammed his fist into the stone wall beside him. His older self merely smirked, his dark figure dissolving into nothing.
Mylo lowered his gaze, his eyes settling on Tritia sleeping peacefully in his arms.
Why did she come back for me? What could have possibly driven her to do that? Was it just because of our deal? Or maybe... her desperate obsession with making me her master made her do it?
That line of thinking wasn’t entirely alien to him. He had already surmised that she possessed an intense dependency on having someone else lead her, that she craved serving under a master. He figured it was likely a byproduct of the unforgiving life she had been forced to live.
But earlier... she didn’t seem like that at all. It felt like she was a completely different person. What actually happened to her?
"Ahem... mmh..."
A soft sound escaped Tritia’s lips as her body slowly regained consciousness. She stirred, attempting to push herself up. Mylo gently supported her frame, helping her sit upright against the cool stone wall.
Leaning back, her eyes fluttered open and finally settled on Mylo.
A soft, radiant smile bloomed across her face, and she relaxed completely against the rock.
"Hmm! I really had a good sleep. What about you, Mylo? Tell me."
"We were both completely exhausted," Mylo replied, rubbing his sore neck.
"Honestly, I think we both just passed out. Are you feeling all right now?"
"Hmm! Better than ever!"
Mylo nudged her gently. "If you need to, you can use that skill of yours again. I have a decent amount of Pran saved up now."
"Uh-uh," she murmured, shaking her head with a light chuckle.
"I’m good. My body surprisingly feels totally recovered! I could probably beat a Nothrought on my own right now! Haha!"
"Hmm... ha... ha..." Mylo let out a dry, forced laugh.
As the awkward laughter slowly died down, a heavy silence settled over the dark alcove.
Tritia stared down at her lap, her small fingers nervously clutching. After a long, pause, she quietly opened her mouth again.
"I’m sorry for lying to you earlier..." she whispered, her voice dropping into a solemn tone. "I... I do have a Sin."
Mylo nodded slowly. "It’s no big deal. You just didn’t want to reveal your power to a stranger."
"My Sin is the Sin of Devotion," Tritia said, her voice barely a murmur. "It’s our tribal Sin... passed down through generations of the Rommar."
"Devotion, huh?" Mylo rubbed his chin, "Hmm... is that why you were so dead set on getting me to form a soulbind with you?"
He felt like he had finally solved the puzzle behind her bizarre, persistent behavior. But Tritia immediately shook her head.
"No. No, no. The name of a Sin is just the underlying emotion behind it," she explained, looking directly into his eyes.
"Its manifestation varies from person to person depending on how they understand that emotion. For me... well, yeah. At first, I just wanted you to become my master."
Mylo caught the subtle shift in her phrasing. "’Did’? Have you changed your mind?"
"Hmm... You see, I spent most of my life blindly following someone else’s orders. To me, being bound to a master felt natural. In fact, I was completely lost and terrified when there was no one left to order me around."
Mylo remained silent, letting her speak in her dim, gentle voice without interrupting her flow.
"But then you flat-out refused to perform the ritual with me," Tritia continued, her claws lightly brushing the worn leather of Mylo’s shoes on her feet. "That’s why I kept trying to trick you into ordering me around anyway... so I could slowly convince you to eventually accept the soul bind. But then... I ascended."
"Ascended?" Mylo blinked, caught entirely off guard. It was his first time hearing the term used like this.
"Hmm! My first Name was Kneeling Before Unknown," she revealed softly. "But today... right after I ran away from you after our hunt in the forest... I received my second Name: Loyal to a Fault."
"I... I see."
Is that how Sins work in this world? Is an Ascension some kind of evolution or level-up system? Or is it tied strictly to internal perception?
"Through that Ascension, I finally understood," Tritia said, her raspy tone growing exceptionally clear. "I didn’t actually need a master. What truly mattered was my own feeling, my own personal interpretation of my Sin."
Mylo studied her closely. "So... what conclusion have you reached?"
"I... I don’t know clearly yet," Tritia admitted, her chest heaving slightly as she turned her full attention toward him. "That’s why I need to ask you."
She leaned in, locking her intense, fiery red eyes onto his.
"What is our relationship?"
Mylo froze. "Our... relationship?"
"Yes! What do you think about it?" she pressed, her gaze unyielding. "I want to know so I can clear up my own feelings! Tell me... what am I to you?"
Mylo felt completely trapped in her piercing gaze, those scarlet eyes refusing to release him.
His mind raced backward, replaying every single interaction they had shared since he stepped into that cave.
Was there a specific moment that had altered everything between them? Was there a single split second where he had actually stopped to define what she meant to him?
He swallowed hard, his throat dry, before finally forcing the words out.
"Tritia... I... I am-"
