Chapter 85: 85.Let this one become our ceremony-1

Plumes of thick, black smoke surged high into the sky, towering far above the tallest treetops.

Along the mountain ridge, every single tree had been leveled, flattened into a jagged crater that resembled a massive, hollowed-out tunnel.

The only sound breaking the dead silence was the wet, painful sound of coughing. Aside from his own ragged breath, Mylo couldn’t hear a thing. Heavy, splintered branches and debris weighed him down, burying his body. He tried to speak, tried to call out, but his jaw remained locked shut, his strength completely spent.

Through his half-lidded, flickering vision, a faint crimson glow flickered into view.

The heavy pile of broken wood shifted, creaking as the debris was suddenly cleared away from his chest.

"Mylo..."

A soft, clear voice gently called out his name.

Looking up through the clearing smoke, he saw Tritia standing over him, the vivid red aura surrounding her now pulsing brighter and more vibrant than ever before.

"Hmm... look at you. Look at how bad of a condition you’re in."

She gently cleared away a few more broken branches, stepping closer. Carefully brushing the dirt and rubble from Mylo’s face, his bruised and bloodied features fully came into view.

"Hmm... our situation is really bad, isn’t it? Don’t you also think so? Tell me."

Behind her, the mountain-like shadow of the Grimara loomed in the haze. The faint red tint radiating from the monster’s massive body stood out sharply against the pitch-black ruins of the forest.

Mylo’s mind processed her words, but every single nerve and muscle in his body refused to move.

His brain begged him to shut down. His heavy eyelids flickered, fighting against the overwhelming urge to close forever. His lungs screamed as they strained to pull in air, and his hammering heart threatened to sink into an eternal slumber.

Reading the fading life in his eyes, Tritia leaned down, her soft voice cutting through the noise in his head.

"Don’t worry... hmm."

Tritia’s sweet, steady voice forced Mylo’s flickering eyes to refocus on her. Her skin was growing clearer, radiating a brilliant, pulsating red tint.

"Your warrior comrade is here," she whispered softly. "There’s no need to worry."

Smiling down at him, she reached out and gently took his bloodied hand into hers. The bright crimson light gathered at her nails, casting a vivid, warm glow across their intertwined fingers.

’’Mutual healing,’’ A few urgent wounds closed on his body, raining down their pain on her.

"You’re the reason I’ve changed," she said, her tone filled with quiet conviction and alien to Mylo.

"If I met the version of me from just a few days ago, I’d think she was a completely different person."

She tightened her grip on his hand, her wild aura softening as she looked into his tired eyes.

"You helped me make this difference, Mylo. Don’t you ever think that you brought me into danger. You saved me again and again. Even when I betrayed you, you didn’t hold it against me, you just saved me all over again. This transformation... none of it would have been possible without you."

Her smile radiated with genuine warmth, her matted hair shifting slightly in the faint red light surrounding them.

"This is the best I’ve ever been in my entire life," she whispered gently. "So, thank you for that, Mylo."

She leaned in and gently pressed her lips against his forehead. Her eyes lingered over him with quiet warmth, and her hand stroked his hair once more before she pulled back.

"This time... let me save you."

Turning her back on him, she stepped away and began walking toward the mountainous form of the Grimara. Behind her, Mylo’s finger twitched weakly against the dirt, reaching out as if trying to chase after her, but his broken body refused to follow.

A few meters away, Tritia paused and glanced back over her shoulder. Meeting his desperate eyes, she offered him one last, brilliant smile.

The deafening roar of the Grimara shook the earth behind her. Answering the titan’s challenge, Tritia burst into a full sprint, charging straight into the beast’s path.

A sudden gust of wind swept through the forest as the giant’s enormous hand swung straight toward her.

Tritia dropped onto all fours, her speed blitzing past the surrounding debris.

She screamed in a frenzy, "Hey, big monster, do you know who I am?!"

The hand came rushing down, slamming into the earth and creating a massive cloud of dust. Tritia leaped straight through the haze, landing cleanly on the sweeping forearm and sprinting up its length.

"Tritia Rommar! The top warrior of the Rommar tribe! Do you know why our Rommar tribe is famous across all six realms?!"

Grimara threw his other hand, aiming to crush her as she ran along his left arm. Tritia leaped without hesitation, effortlessly switching onto his right arm. Grimara swung his heavy hands wildly in the air, losing sight of her in the chaos, but Tritia’s voice continued to echo across the battlefield.

"Our tribe possesses ancient knowledge of rituals and multiple soul-binds! Arts so feared by the great families that they used all their power to try and eradicate us... but we survived!"

Her figure emerged from behind his wrist. She dragged her claws deep through his flesh, sending thick, dark blood spraying down into the lake below. Grimara cried out in raw anger.

"Now, let me ask you this question! Out of all our rituals, which one is the most ancient and important?! Tell me!"

She sprinted across his chest just as Grimara slammed his own fist into his torso to crush her, forcing her to launch off his body. Landing gracefully on the canopy of the tallest tree in the area, she locked eyes with the titan.

"It’s the ritual that requires the utmost trust! A ritual that demands the highest level of devotion! It’s the ritual that ignores all differences and brings balance to the soul!"

Grimara swept his massive leg, snapping the tree at its base and launching it meters into the air. Tritia leaped off the falling trunk, diving right back onto Grimara’s body. Her claws carved through his thick hide, shredding flesh and bone as she ran frantically over his towering frame.

"Tell me... what happens when you perform such a ritual with a creature that has no capacity to think, no understanding, and zero connection with me?! Tell me, what will your fate be?!"

She leaped onto his massive shoulder, coming to a sudden stop as her chest heaved with heavy panting.

Grimara turned his colossal head and growled directly at her.

"Absolute destruction of your soul! And before that destruction... the absolute hell your soul will burn through for eternity!"

Grimara slammed his hand onto his shoulder like swatting a fly, but Tritia was already airborne.

Her aura flared violently. Her crimson hair whipped in the gale, and the blood-stained red fabric wrapped around her frame fluttered in the wind.

She looked down at the giant and smiled wild and free.

"Let’s form the Matebind and burn our souls for eternity!" she screamed.

Bringing her hands together, she formed an inverted triangle with her fingers. Within that triangle, a strange, pulsating orb of red light materialized.

Within itself, the orb contained the culmination of her life, from her first hunt to her first ascendence, from her birth to departure from tribe, from her slavery to the bravery as the warrior comrade, and the beginning and the end of her life, Mylo.

It collapsed in on itself for a fraction of a second before erupting into a vibrant, blinding beam of pure crimson energy, aimed straight at Grimara’s chest.

Before it could hit Grimara, the figure of Mylo appeared in between, taking the beam straight at his chest!
