Chapter 90: 90.I accepted our bind-2

Mylo stared at the message on the blood-red screen, reading the message again.

[Hopefully, I am still talking to you when we meet next time.]

The text dissolved into thin air, but Mylo’s eyes didn’t leave that exact spot.

...I will lose myself?

A bitter, humorless smile twitched at the corner of his lips.

Haah... what a joke.

He never expected to gain strength without paying for it. But if he lost his mind, if he wasn’t even himself anymore, then what was the point of surviving at all?

Shaking his head, a heavy sigh escaped his chest as he gave in to the exhaustion.

He pulled back the wooden chair in the inner chamber and collapsed into it.

Taking a slow, steadying breath, he called out to the interface.

Status.

.....

Right off the bat, Mylo observed several major changes.

"Let’s see..."

Tritia was now officially registered under the Matebind connection. Scanning the details, he didn’t see any immediate red flags or explicit issues attached to it, which brought a brief wave of relief.

He saw his overall rank had finally jumped to Rank E.

Rank E...

He checked his ability tab, but to his disappointment, no new skills had unlocked.

Will I only get them when I ascend and gain a new name, just like Tritia did?

He kept scrolling. The interface was far clearer now, cleanly separating his raw Prana absorption level from his actual Prana value pool. A satisfied smile crossed his face as he appreciated the newfound transparency.

Then, his eyes caught the biggest change of all.

"Finally... I can use the Shop."

His gaze shifted to the tab right beside it.

"And a Storage function?"

He paused, leaning back against the chair.

"I don’t have any Gold yet, though. How do I even earn that?"

He lightly scratched his cheek, staring at the locked currency counter. But as his eyes drifted back to the inventory grid, a sudden thought struck him like a bolt of lightning.

Wait... the Storage function.

His heart rate spiked.

Would I be able to put something in here in Narak and pull it back out on Earth? Or take something from Earth into Narak? Is that... is that actually possible?

Excitement surged through his chest at the sheer potential of it.

Analysis... that’s probably related to appraising items...

Just as the possibilities began racing through his mind, the air before him distorted, and another message bled onto the red screen.

.....

[NOTIFICATION]

Rewards for the weekly quest have been calculated!!

Grimara: 1/1

Reward 1:- 1000 golds has been deposited!

Reward 2:- 40 stat points have been allotted!

Reward 3:- Coat of Pariah has been allotted.

.....

A wide smile spread across his face as he looked at the rewards listed on the screen.

"Ha ha ha ha! One thousand Gold, now that’s what I call a reward!"

He muttered to himself excitedly, his eyes eagerly scanning the rest of the list. Along with the gold, the system had granted him forty stat Points and a peculiar item.

"Hmm? What’s this? The Coat of Pariah?"

Just as the thought crossed his mind, space distorted and a tiny black orb materialized in the air right before him. It expanded rapidly, swelling to the size of a football before a heavy bundle dropped out of it. Mylo reacted on instinct, catching the item securely in his hands.

He stepped over to the old wooden table and spread it out flat.

It was a long, full-body trench coat, reddish-black in color. Running his fingers over the material, he felt the hard leather; it was well-seasoned, textured, and surprisingly porous to the touch.

Mylo squinted, holding the edge up to examine it closer.

"Is this... that lunatic bastard’s coat?" he muttered, raising an eyebrow.

"Hmm. Does it even have any special function, or is it just a coat?"

Let’s see.... Analyse?

A fresh notification expanded beneath the item description, laying out the artifact’s true nature.

....

[ARTIFACT: COAT OF PARIAH (RANK B)]

[EFFECTS]

Identity Concealment: Completely masks the wearer’s identity from external detection.

Form Manipulation: Can alter its size, shape, and color according to the wearer’s will.

Growth Potential: Upgradable through specific conditions.

[DRAWBACKS]

Behavioral Contagion: The personality of an impersonated identity can bleed into and influence the wearer’s actions.

Sin Synchronization: Resonates directly with the wearer’s intrinsic Sin, acting autonomously under its influence.

....

Mylo stared at the bloody-red screen, his breath catching in his throat.

Conceal identity? Change shape?

The utility of a Rank-B artifact was insane, but his eyes immediately locked onto the second drawback.

Influenced by the wearer’s Sin...

He looked down at the reddish-black leather resting on the wooden table. The warning from the system’s parting words echoed sharply in his mind: Recognize your Sin properly... If you fail to save yourself, you will no longer be you.

Mylo lightly shook out the coat before slipping his arms into the sleeves with a swift motion.

The moment the leather settled on his shoulders, another system message flashed in the air.

[IDENTITY IMPERSONATED: CHIEF OF VILLAGE OF PARIAH]

"Huh? Chief of the village?" Mylo muttered, his brows furrowing in confusion.

He instantly remembered the village of Pariah, the desperate settlement that was doomed to total destruction by Grimara if he had failed the hunt.

A disquieted, displeased expression darkened his face.

Without hesitation, Mylo unbuttoned the leather coat, pulled it off, and sent it straight into his Storage.

This time, there was no exaggerated spatial effect or expanding black orb; the heavy coat simply vanished into his invisible inventory grid.

"Mylo! Come on, the food is ready!"

Tritia’s energetic voice echoed from the main cavern, breaking the quiet gloom of the inner chamber.

Stretching his sore arms, Mylo stepped out of the inner chamber.

As soon as he crossed the threshold, the rich, mouth-watering aroma of cooked meat flooded his nose.

He looked over toward the source and spotted a bright red fire crackling near the cave wall. Tritia sat beside the flames, watching over a chunk of Vexfang meat speared on a makeshift wooden stick, angled close to the heat.

"Where.., where did you get the fire?" Mylo asked, blurted out by the unexpectedness of the sight.

"Hmm! I can use it," she replied brightly. "I haven’t formed any proper spells yet, but..."

Tritia brought the fingers of her hand together, and a faint, flickering red flame materialized just above her palm.

"I just figured it out!" she beamed, her crimson eyes sparkling.

"Now we don’t have to eat raw meat anymore. Aren’t I amazing? Tell me!"
