Chapter 59: Chapter 57: Old Mo

"Old Mo, we might need to get out of here."

It was the same standard double room. The dwarf-like man sitting in the corner suddenly spoke.

His body was like that of a seven or eight-year-old child, but his face was that of a middle-aged man in his forties or fifties, his forehead creased with wrinkles. He sat motionless in the corner, almost blending into the room, making him difficult to notice.

Old Mo turned to look at him and asked, "What’s wrong?"

The dwarf-like man said, "The hidden Boss is approaching."

"Oh..." Old Mo sighed. "It seems the hidden Boss has anti-tracking Skills. The intel Moon Shadow provided has too many gaps."

"Old Mo, I don’t want to go up against any Boss," the dwarf-like man said. "You can never kill all the Bosses in the game, but a player’s chances to start over are limited."

Old Mo asked, "How far is the hidden Boss?"

The dwarf-like man replied, "Fifty meters."

Hearing this, Old Mo laughed. "Too late."

The dwarf-like man was silent for a moment before saying, "Should we notify the other guests?"

"Mm," Old Mo said with a faint smile. "Go ahead. Let’s give everyone a little excitement."

The phone in the room suddenly rang.

Old Mo answered. It was the front desk.

"There’s a new guest. Is it okay for them to come up now?"

’A new guest at a time like this...’ Old Mo thought for a moment. "Let the guest come up."

"Understood."

The front desk clerk gave Huangfu Miaomiao a polite smile. "Ma’am, please take the elevator to the fourth floor. Your room number will be sent to you via text message."

Huangfu Miaomiao nodded apprehensively and walked toward the elevator in a daze.

She hadn’t expected to see one of her own kind so blatantly right after entering. Before this, she had always thought there weren’t many players in Qingjiang City.

After reaching the fourth floor, she found the hallway was silent.

She peeked left and right, remembering the task Su Yuqing had given her.

’But how am I supposed to figure out how many players are here? Do I have to knock on every door?’

Huangfu Miaomiao was struggling with this when a message popped up on her system’s virtual screen. Someone was sending her a friend request, and the request message contained the number 414.

’Could that be the room number?’

Huangfu Miaomiao looked up at the room numbers on each door: 410, 411, 412, 413...

...Huh? 415???

Huangfu Miaomiao looked closely. Between rooms 413 and 415, there was a door with no number plate.

’This must be 414, right?’

’Why isn’t there a sign?’

Huangfu Miaomiao tried knocking on the door.

The door opened quickly, but she didn’t see who opened it. As soon as it opened, she saw two players inside—

A gaunt man was sitting propped up on the bed;

The other looked like a dwarf and was sitting in an armchair in the corner of the room.

"Is there something you need, guest? The lodging fee is 20 points per day. We can provide security." The man on the bed spoke in a flat tone, as if he had repeated this line dozens, even hundreds, of times.

Huangfu Miaomiao asked nervously, "Can I... Can I hire help here?"

"Mm, you can." The man nodded slightly. "What kind of help are you looking to hire?"

"The stronger, the better..." Huangfu Miaomiao bit her lip, cautiously observing his expression. "Do you... have anyone strong here?"

The man chuckled. "That depends on how many points you can afford."

Huangfu Miaomiao asked hesitantly, "Do you have anyone... uh, a player who’s even stronger than a hidden Boss?"

The man narrowed his eyes. "Someone like that won’t be cheap."

’They really have someone like that?’ Huangfu Miaomiao grew tense. ’If they’re even stronger than Feng Ling, I have to warn everyone to retreat immediately. They can’t come in here just to die!’

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. Before anyone inside could respond, Moon Shadow burst in, fuming. "Old Mo, that Fishman ran off! He actually ran! I thought he listened to you and would at least use his time at the hotel to recover before leaving, but I just went to his room and it’s empty!"

A hint of displeasure crossed Old Mo’s face. Although he didn’t think Huangfu Miaomiao was a major client worth entertaining, he still hated being interrupted during a business deal.

"If he ran, he ran. He didn’t ask you for compensation, isn’t that enough?" he said coolly.

Moon Shadow was still upset, feeling like he’d been played. He turned to leave, but then his eyes fell on Huangfu Miaomiao—

That skull mask was too distinctive, and with the severed section of her arm, Moon Shadow recognized her instantly.

"It’s you?!" Moon Shadow grabbed Huangfu Miaomiao. "What are you doing here?!"

"Ah!" Huangfu Miaomiao jumped in fright.

The person’s voice and appearance had completely changed after they re-logged, so Huangfu Miaomiao had no idea why they were suddenly lashing out at her.

"Moon Shadow, don’t scare our guest," Old Mo said, expressing his disapproval.

"Old Mo, you don’t understand! This little brat was there when I went offline!" Moon Shadow gripped the back of Huangfu Miaomiao’s neck, holding her firmly in place. "Fatty said she knows the location of the Maze. We can’t let her get away!"

"She knows where the Maze is?"

Old Mo’s eyes shot wide open. The sheet over the lower half of his body began to heave violently, and large flowers burst out from underneath! Each one had thick, fleshy petals, and vividly colored tubes grew from their centers, twisting around Huangfu Miaomiao’s legs!

The tubes looked like a mass of multicolored earthworms, desperately trying to burrow into Huangfu Miaomiao’s flesh!

Moon Shadow immediately let go in disgust. "You can’t control your form anymore? What’s your Pollution Value?"

"That’s not important." Old Mo stared at Huangfu Miaomiao with a greedy gaze. "As long as we find the Divine Statue, none of our problems will be problems anymore."

Huangfu Miaomiao screamed and struggled. "I don’t know where the Maze is! I really don’t!!!"

CLICK—

The lights in the room suddenly went out.

Not only was the room plunged into darkness, but it was dim and lightless outside as well. The entire block had lost power.

At the same time, Su Yuqing, who had been observing the scene through a micro-camera on Huangfu Miaomiao, found his view had also gone black.

He connected to Feng Ling’s channel and said, "There’s been an incident. Little Skeleton has been captured. She’s in room 414, the one with no number plate. Where are you now?"

"The server room," Feng Ling replied.

The words had barely left his mouth when the door to the server room opened. The person who entered was none other than the front desk clerk who had just checked in Huangfu Miaomiao.

He saw Feng Ling and his eyes went wide. Before he could react, Zhou Diao, who was standing to the side, disemboweled him with one swipe of her claws.

The clerk crumpled to the floor.

Feng Ling asked, "Weren’t you afraid of killing the wrong person?"

"Couldn’t be wrong," Zhou Diao said with a smile, withdrawing her bloody claws. "A normal person who sees a stranger in the server room would first think it’s a thief. But the moment he saw you, he looked like he’d seen something truly terrifying."

Feng Ling pursed his lips, speechless.

A Card materialized from the corpse on the floor.

Neither of them paid it any mind. They stepped over the body and continued upstairs.

Su Yuqing monitored everyone’s feeds while issuing commands: "The Alien Species on the first floor has been cleared. Special Attack Team, enter the hotel and evacuate the guests. Start from the first floor and proceed upwards. Be careful."

Feng Ling and Zhou Diao had just reached the third floor.

Just as they were about to continue up, Feng Ling stopped, staring warily at the wall ahead.

"What are those things on the wall?"
