Alpha's Secret Bride

Chapter 272: She Said Yes

"I saw my photographs when I was just a pup and how he took care of me and our mother. He is my father too. We were once happy fellas. The picture says it all because I never stopped laughing. I think I owe him an apology for judging him wrongly. I should be the one asking for his forgiveness," Gregory said as he went down on his knees. "Please father, forgive me," he said. Mr. Snow laughed and gestured to him. There was joy in the chamber.

"When are you guys getting mated?" Brandon asked unexpectedly. Lunara remembered the question Emma asked her earlier and sensed that Gregory must have told Brandon something. She turned and looked at Greg. He shrugged as though the question was thrown at her and she should answer it. She looked around the living chamber, all the guests, including the news wolves’s camera, were staring at her with smiles on their faces. She turned to urge Gregory to answer the question. However, she saw him on his knee, holding out an engagement ring. She laughed and quickly looked away.

"Please, be my mate, Lunara Scarlet Greens," Greg said. She looked at the laptop that was on the table, Mr. Snow and his pups had joy on their faces too, as if she had accepted the proposal already.

"Of course, I will be your mate," she said. There was joy in the living chamber. She knew she would trend once again tomorrow, but she did not care anymore.

Their mother’s remembrance/reconciliation dinner ended at exactly 10 PM. All the guests went back to their various houses.

The following moonrise, Brandon announced that he was taking everyone out for dinner. The news instantly lifted everyone’s mood. Laughter filled the living chamber as they headed to their various chambers, eager to get ready and counting down the hours until dinner time.

When moonfall finally arrived, everyone gathered outside and climbed into the convoy. With Brandon leading the way, they drove straight to Santo Rosario City, chatting and laughing throughout the ride.

Not long afterward, he led everyone into one of Santo Rosario City’s finest restaurants.

The hostess greeted them warmly before leading them to a private feeding chamber overlooking the glittering city. As soon as they settled into their seats, waiters arrived with drinks and appetizers, leaving the family alone to enjoy the atmosphere.

Brandon picked up his glass and looked around the table with a smile. "I know we’ve all had a long day, but I couldn’t let it end without celebrating. We’ve been through more than enough, and tonight reminds me that no matter what happens, family always finds its way back together."

Emma smiled at him and lifted her own glass. "To my family."

"To family," Gregory, Bernard, Elara, and Lunara echoed together before their glasses clinked softly.

The conversation drifted naturally from one topic to another as dinner was served. Bernard insisted he wasn’t eating much, even though his plate had already been refilled twice.

"I’ve barely started," he said, reaching for another bread roll.

Elara laughed and leaned back in her chair. "Barely started? Bernard, I’ve been watching you this whole time. You’ve been eating since we sat down."

"I have a healthy appetite."

"You have an endless appetite."

Everyone laughed, including Gregory, who shook his head. "I’m starting to think Brandon ordered extra food just for you."

"I won’t deny it," Brandon replied with a grin. "I know Bernard too well."

The laughter around the table lingered, and for a while no one talked about the past. They simply enjoyed one another’s company.

Lunara looked from one face to another before lowering her eyes to the table. A small smile touched her lips without her realizing it.

Emma noticed.

"What are you smiling about?"

Lunara looked up and shook her head. "Nothing."

Emma raised an eyebrow. "I know that look. Tell us."

Lunara let out a soft laugh before resting both hands around her glass. "I was just thinking... I forgot what this feels like. Sitting here, laughing with all of you, without worrying about what comes next." She paused, her smile fading slightly. "There was a time when I thought I’d never be welcomed back to this table."

The chamber fell quiet for a moment.

Emma reached across the table and rested her hand over Lunara’s. "Then don’t think about that anymore. You’re here now, and that’s all that matters."

Gregory intertwined his fingers with Lunara’s beneath the table and gave her hand a gentle squeeze. "You don’t have to keep punishing yourself. You’ve already carried that burden long enough."

Before Lunara could answer, Elara’s device vibrated against the table. She picked it up absentmindedly, but before she could put it down, another notification appeared. Then another. Within seconds, the screen was lighting up nonstop.

She blinked in surprise.

"Hold on..."

Bernard looked at her curiously. "What’s going on?"

Elara laughed as she unlocked her device. "I think you all need to see this."

She turned the screen toward them.

Across the top of the page was Santo Bulletin’s evening headline.

ROYAL FAMILY REUNITES. GREGORY Darkmore ANNOUNCES ENGAGEMENT TO LUNARA GREENS DURING RECONCILIATION CELEBRATION.

Several photographs accompanied the article. One captured Emma embracing Lunara with tears in both their eyes. Another showed Gregory slipping the engagement ring onto Lunara’s finger while Brandon applauded beside them. A third showed the entire family standing together, smiling for the cameras.

Bernard let out a low whistle. "That was fast."

"Santo Bulletin never misses a major story," Brandon replied with a chuckle.

Elara continued scrolling until she reached the comments. "Listen to these."

She smiled as she read them aloud.

"’I never thought I’d see this day. Welcome back, Lunara.’"

She scrolled again.

"’Emma’s forgiveness is exactly why she’s loved by the kingdom.’"

Another swipe.

"’Congratulations to Gregory and Lunara! You both deserve happiness.’"

Her smile grew wider as more comments appeared.

"’Families fight, but families also heal. This made me cry.’"

"’I’m so happy they’re together again.’"

Lunara stared at the screen in silence before looking at Emma.

"They’re really saying those things?"

Emma nodded gently. "They’re saying what they see."

"I thought..." Lunara stopped, then looked down at her hands. "I thought everyone would hate me forever."

Emma squeezed her hand again. "Some people may never change their minds, and that’s okay. The people who matter have already opened their hearts."

Gregory smiled at her. "And the rest will judge you by who you are now, not by who you used to be."

Lunara blinked quickly, but a tear still escaped.

Emma reached over with a napkin and dabbed at the corner of her eye before smiling.

"There. No more tears tonight."

Lunara laughed softly. "I’m trying."

Just then, Brandon’s own device buzzed. He glanced at the screen and laughed before turning it toward everyone.

"The story has already been shared over three million times, and look at what’s trending."

Bernard leaned closer. "Let’s see."

Brandon scrolled through the list.

"Number one is #WelcomeBackLunara. Number two is #RoyalReconciliation. And number three..." He smiled at Gregory before looking at Lunara. "#GregAndLunara."

Elara clapped excitedly. "I knew people would love this!"

Lunara covered her face for a second before peeking through her fingers. "Can everyone please stop looking at me?"

Bernard laughed. "Too late. You’re the kingdom’s favorite headline again."

When they finally finished dinner and stepped outside, bright camera flashes greeted them before they even reached the entrance. Reporters stood behind security barriers while dozens of people lined both sides of the walkway, waving excitedly the moment they recognized the royal family.

"Alpha Brandon!"

"Queen Luna Emma!"

"Congratulations!"

"Lady Lunara!"

Lunara instinctively slowed her steps. Gregory noticed and quietly slipped his hand into hers.

"You don’t have to be afraid," he said.

She looked at him, took a steady breath, and nodded. The only thing she remembered was the title she had always wanted to be called—Queen of Greendor.

As they walked toward their vehicles, a young woman stepped out from the crowd carrying a bouquet of fresh flowers. Security moved immediately, but Brandon gave a small nod, allowing her to approach.

The young woman stopped in front of Lunara and held out the bouquet with both hands.

"These are for you."

Lunara blinked in surprise. "For me?"

The woman smiled warmly. "Yes. Everyone makes mistakes. Seeing your family forgive you reminded me that people can change. Congratulations on your engagement."

Lunara accepted the flowers carefully.

"Thank you. That means more than you know."

Nearby, a little pup waved excitedly at Emma before turning to Lunara.

"My mother said you’re happy again."

Lunara smiled and crouched slightly to meet his eyes.

"I am."

"I’m happy too," the pup said before running back to his parents.

Laughter spread through the group as they continued toward the cars. This time, no one whispered behind Lunara’s back. No one looked at her with contempt. Instead, congratulations and warm smiles followed them all the way to the waiting vehicles.

Before the car door closed, Lunara looked back at the crowd one last time. Only a few months ago, those same headlines had been filled with anger and disappointment. Tonight, the kingdom was celebrating forgiveness, reconciliation, and a future she had never dared to dream of.

A small smile touched her lips as she settled into the seat. For the first time in many winters, the weight on her heart was gone.

Gregory slid into the driver’s seat, and the convoy pulled away toward their mini-mansion. By moonrise, they would begin the journey to their grandmother’s home to scatter their mother’s ashes and finally give her the farewell she deserved.

After that, Finland awaited them. Emma’s delivery. The birth of the kingdom’s future Moon Prince... or perhaps its first little Moon Princess.

Lunara rested her head against the window as the lights of the city faded behind them. She thought the hardest part of her life was finally over.

She had no idea that the next journey would change all of their lives forever.
