Alpha's Secret Bride

Chapter 273: The Lost Signal

The wonderful moment Lunara shared with her moonallies made her feel like sunshine on a cloudy day. Emma was also happy. Joy almost forced her pup out of her womb.

Some of their neighbors still followed her to her house and made more joyful noises before going back to their various houses. She was very happy.

She relaxed on the sofa when they left. She could not walk them to their cars because she was very tired. Greg looked at her and grinned.

"The reconciliation dinner is an event I will never forget in my life," Gregory said as he sat next to Lunara. She looked at the diamond ring he gave her and kissed his lips gently.

"You need a warm bath," Gregory said. She called Naomi, who followed them to their house and told her what she wanted. Naomi came into the living chamber after a few minutes and announced that her bathing water was ready.

She tried to stand up, but she was so weak. After watching her as she struggled to get up for a while, Gregory laughed and lifted her. He climbed the stairs and slowly lowered her onto the bed. He began to undress her as though he was undressing a pup. No one has ever treated her that way.

Greg and she had a warm bath. He got out of the bathtub when he felt his body had been thoroughly cleaned and left the bathchamber. Lunara soaked herself in the bathtub for a while, mulling over everything that happened. Joy built a mansion in her head. Greg, who left about thirty minutes ago, did not come back to the bathchamber to find out why she was still in the bathtub. She wondered if he had slept off. She relaxed her head on the bathtub and continued mulling.

"I think you have mulled enough," Greg said, standing at the bathchamber door. She looked at him and grinned. He strode into the bathchamber and took a large towel from where it was warming on a stainless rail.

"Now, would you mind stepping out of the water?" He said with a smile. She dragged her weak body out of the water. Greg quickly wrapped her in the towel and began to wipe her body.

She stood like a statue as he dried her whole body. No one had ever pampered her this way. His hands felt so good. She couldn’t imagine what she had been missing since. She spent so many winters of her life desiring Emma’s man and the beautiful sides of life passed her by. She wished she had known better. She wished she had been wiser.

The cotton on her skin, thick, brisk, and absorbent, was quite soothing and invigorating. Greg dried her all over carefully. She laughed when he squatted to dry her toes individually. This is what she does to herself every day and she wondered why his hands tickled her.

She stopped laughing when he cleaned the folds between her thighs. Her groin pulsed softly. Greg stood up and began to wipe the curves behind her ears and under her boobs. He wrapped the towel around her chest and tucked it under her armpit. She felt like a pup. He took another towel and dried her hair, which had also grown to a reasonable length. He wrapped the towel around her hair and tucked it firmly.

"We are going to choose a recent date for our mating," he said as he edged her against the cream-colored bathchamber wall. His lips teased hers with fleeting kisses. "What do you think?" He asked, kissing a track toward her ear.

"Eira...."

"You are clean and pure," he moaned. He knew what she wanted to say and he did not want to hear it. He slid a hand into her towel and cupped her waist. She grinned as she wondered why he wrapped her up in a towel when he had other plans.

"What do you think about what I said," he moaned again as the kissing became intense.

"A closer date is good," she whimpered, having slipped into the softness of lust. She watched Gregory as he slowly stepped out of his thong. He moved towards her again, with his thick and hard body.

"I like your swizzle stick," she said seductively and he laughed, untucking the towel he earlier tucked around her chest and the towel fell to a heap at her feet, leaving her totally unclad against the cream-colored bathchamber wall.

"The stick needs something to swizzle," he whispered seductively into her ear and they chuckled.

"Let’s fix the mating on your birth moon," he said.

"Alright," she said and laughed because she knew he wouldn’t like the month.

"When is your birthday?"

"I was born in October," she said, wanting his touch again.

"No way!! It’s too far! Next month is good," he ground against her, running gentle kisses over her lips before flicking his tongue deeper. She yielded to the passion of the moment. She was happy she has a man she can always call hers. A man who pampers her like a pup. Greg worships her as though she was an ecclesiastical object. The generous attention and maximum affection he gives her can not be described. Their desire for each other increased to the extent that none of them could spend an hour without seeing each other. Greg is simply hers and she’s grateful and happy she got it right this time.

************

On Friday moonrise, Emma and Lunara got ready to drive out to their grandmother’s house which was a few hours drive from Santorini to scatter the ashes.

Their grandmother wanted them to come without the guards. And that didn’t sit well with Brandon so he called her on video call.

Brandon stared at Lunara’s grandmother in disbelief.

"Absolutely not Mrs Oakshott."

His voice was firm enough to leave no room for negotiation.

"Emma is carrying my heir. I’m not sending her anywhere without protection."

The old woman met his gaze without flinching.

"The dead deserve peace, not a parade of armed warriors. My daughter deserves a dignified farewell. If strangers surround her resting place with weapons, her spirit will never rest."

She folded her hands in front of her.

"This is a sacred family tradition. Attendance is restricted to relatives only. No outsiders are allowed, under any circumstances."

Brandon’s jaw tightened.

"With all due respect, traditions won’t stop an assassin."

Emma stepped closer and slipped her hand into his.

"She’s right," she said gently. "This isn’t about politics or the throne. It’s about my mother."

"Then leave it until after the delivery. You can go then, or better yet, let Lunara do it."

"Our grandmother already told her not to come. Besides, I promised Lunara that I would do it myself. Remember?"

Emma looked into his eyes, searching for even the slightest sign that he had given in.

"You know I can’t protect you if I’m not there," Brandon said quietly.

"You can," Emma replied with a faint smile. "Just trust me."

Silence settled between them as Brandon held her gaze. He wanted to argue, but he knew exactly why this mattered to her.

After a long moment, he let out a slow breath.

"I’m only agreeing because it’s your sibling’s final wish," he said. "Otherwise, this conversation would already be over."

Even then, he wasn’t taking any chances.

Before Emma left, Brandon quietly arranged several layers of protection.

A tiny tracking pendant was fastened beneath her dress, hidden from view. Bernard connected it to a live monitoring system that refreshed Emma’s location every fifteen seconds. Brandon also clasped a delicate bracelet around her wrist. To anyone else, it looked like an ordinary piece of jewelry, but hidden inside was a silent panic button. If Emma pressed it even once, an emergency alert would reach Brandon instantly.

Just like their grandmother requested, the warriors and all of Emma’s guards stayed behind.

Before Emma stepped into the vehicle, Brandon held both of her hands.

"I’m respecting your grandmother’s wishes," he said quietly, "but I’m not gambling with your life."

Emma smiled.

"I’ll be back before you know it."

Brandon did not want Emma to be exposed to any form of stress. However, Lunara had assured him that she would take good care of her.

At exactly ten in the moonrise, they were chauffeured out of the estate.

As soon as her vehicle disappeared from sight, Brandon’s attention never left Bernard’s screen.

Brandon refused to return to the estate. Instead, he remained inside an armored vehicle parked nearby while Tom sat beside him, watching the monitor without taking his eyes off the blinking dot that represented Emma.

They arrived at their grandmother’s house late in the moonrise. Lunara stepped out of the car and froze. The place had changed beyond recognition. The once-pristine estate had been transformed into something even more breathtaking. The main house now featured a contemporary design with subtle traditional elements woven into its architecture, giving it both elegance and warmth. Every corner of the expansive grounds had been thoughtfully landscaped, creating a stunning atmosphere that immediately drew the eye.

Without wasting any time, they headed straight for the garden behind the main house.

Meanwhile, Leo, Teddy, and a team of elite warriors positioned themselves two streets away from Lunara’s grandmother’s house. They stayed far enough to respect the family’s tradition but close enough to respond within moments if anything went wrong.

"They’ve arrived," Tom reported, his eyes fixed on the monitor.

A minute later, he checked the screen again before speaking. "She’s in the garden."

Silence settled inside the surveillance vehicle as everyone waited. Another minute slipped by.

"Still in the garden," Bernard said without taking his eyes off the monitor.

Unable to remain seated any longer, Brandon pushed himself to his feet and began pacing the length of the vehicle. After a few restless steps, he stopped behind Tom’s chair and looked over his shoulder at the screen.

"Everything normal?" he asked.

"So far," he replied.

Another update came in moments later.

"She’s still there."

Tom finally turned his head and looked at Brandon. "My Alpha... Queen Luna is fine."

"I know." Brandon folded his arms tightly across his chest and let out a quiet breath. "I just hate not being there."

No one said another word. The only sounds inside the vehicle were the soft hum of the equipment and Tom’s fingers moving across the keyboard as he continued monitoring Emma’s location.

Several minutes passed before Tom’s hands suddenly froze above the keys.

The blinking dot on the monitor disappeared.

The color drained from his face as he stared at the screen.

"Alpha Brandon..."

Brandon looked up at once. "What happened?"

"We lost Queen Luna’s signal."
