For other people, negotiations with government officials could last for hours.
Businessmen wanted to maximize their profits, while government officials wanted to squeeze as much money as possible out of them.
Yet Enzo and Charlotte’s meeting with the Governor had been incredibly brief.
People were left wondering whether the two of them had been forced to accept the Governor’s demands, or whether the Governor had been forced to accept theirs.
Of course, there was also the possibility that the deal had fallen through entirely, but that was rare.
The two returned to the car.
"Enzo, the asset is worth around $250 million. But the final price is still up to you. How much do you want to sell it for?" Charlotte asked.
If Enzo said he didn’t want to sell it, Charlotte might actually become sulky.
Still, what use did he have for the building? It would be better to sell it and turn it into cash.
"You’ve already helped me, so I won’t make things difficult for you. Let’s go with that price," he replied.
Although he appeared calm, his heart was actually pounding.
$250 million.
He couldn’t even imagine what he could buy with that much money among the mundane things of this world.
Even his uncle didn’t have that much cash on hand.
Charlotte smiled when she heard his answer.
"How many bank accounts do you have?" she asked.
"Only one."
"Then make several more later. At least ten. I’ll distribute the money evenly among all your accounts. If all of it goes into a single account, it’ll attract too much attention, and that’s not good for someone without an established background," Charlotte explained.
"Okay!" Enzo nodded.
Opening bank accounts was hardly difficult these days. Almost every bank offered online services, making the process simple.
He had never bothered opening more accounts because he simply hadn’t had enough money to put into them.
"You barely ate earlier. Find a restaurant. I’ll treat you," Charlotte said.
Hearing that, Enzo felt rather pleased.
"Charlotte, you seem to care about me quite a lot," he said with a strange expression.
"There’s nothing wrong with helping the son of an old friend," Charlotte replied casually.
Enzo immediately felt uncomfortable.
The son of an old friend?
Did that mean she only saw him as a junior?
"Maybe I should start calling you Auntie."
Tok!
Charlotte suddenly flicked him on the forehead with her finger.
Enzo couldn’t have been more stunned.
However, she didn’t say anything afterward.
It seemed that gesture was simply her way of protesting.
Enzo smiled awkwardly and returned his attention to driving.
He spotted a café and eventually drove there. Every customer inside seemed to be young—groups of university students working on assignments or playing games, as well as young couples.
It seemed more suitable for them than a restaurant.
"This place is fine, right?" Enzo asked.
"Yes..." Charlotte nodded.
The two got out of the car.
With his sharp instincts, Enzo immediately sensed numerous jealous gazes from the young men inside the café.
He ignored them and walked inside.
The café had three floors, along with a rooftop.
There were no private rooms. Instead, it offered various entertainment facilities, such as billiard tables and even gaming consoles.
Enzo didn’t feel comfortable on the first floor. He went up to the second floor, with Charlotte following behind him.
For some reason, the second floor was almost entirely occupied by women. There were hardly any men at all. And the few men who were there had feminine styles and slender, flexible bodies.
Enzo felt uncomfortable when those men stared at him, so he quickly went up to the third floor.
Here, there were more men playing games, along with a few tomboyish women.
Enzo didn’t find it suitable either. It was too noisy.
In the end, he went up to the rooftop.
This was where most of the couples gathered.
There were still plenty of empty tables, and Enzo chose one near the railing with a view overlooking the outside.
The table had only one long bench, large enough for two people.
He sat down and glanced at Charlotte, wondering whether she would sit beside him.
She actually did.
It might have been a long bench, but with two people sitting on it, there was barely any space between them. Their thighs lightly touched.
The café had clearly designed these seats for couples, making it nearly impossible for them to maintain much distance.
"You can order whatever you want. I only want coffee," Charlotte said after sitting down.
A tablet was attached to the table, allowing customers to place their orders through it.
Enzo nodded and began ordering.
Charlotte then paid through her phone.
The tablet informed them that they would have to wait up to ten minutes. Apparently, the food was what took the longest to prepare.
After paying, the next thing Charlotte did was open an online poker website.
Enzo didn’t know whether he should laugh or cry.
He stared at her face, which was extremely close to his.
Charlotte furrowed her brows before looking back at him.
"Is there something on my face?" she asked, seemingly unaware that Enzo was staring because he was curious about how openly she behaved around him.
In the theory of young romance, if a woman behaved like this around a man, it almost certainly meant she wouldn’t reject him if he confessed his feelings.
But that was difficult to believe.
After all, this was only their second meeting.
Unless Charlotte had already chosen him from the beginning.
She knew quite a lot about him, after all, having heard stories from his father. Charles would certainly have spoken highly of his son, perhaps even exaggerated some of his qualities.
And considering how much Charlotte respected his father, that could have made it easier for her to accept Enzo.
Enzo didn’t respond.
Instead, he took out his phone and said, "I’ll open five domestic accounts and five overseas accounts. Is that okay?"
"That’s even better," Charlotte replied.
Enzo began opening the accounts, first downloading the apps for each of the banks he had chosen.
The café’s Wi-Fi was incredibly fast. Downloading all ten apps took only two minutes.
Registering was even easier because he already had all his personal information stored on his phone. He didn’t even need to take another photo of his identification documents.
Once registered, the accounts were immediately activated.
Enzo finished opening all of them before his order even arrived.
Even after ten minutes, his food still hadn’t come.
The café seemed to be extremely busy.
He then sent the account numbers to Charlotte.
She temporarily stopped playing poker.
She opened Enzo’s message and, rather than doing anything herself, forwarded the information to another number with an instruction to transfer $250 million.
Not long afterward, Enzo was stunned as one notification after another appeared on his phone.
Money had begun pouring into his accounts.
"Remember, don’t try gambling, or you’ll go bankrupt," Charlotte suddenly said.
