"You take the red one, and I’ll take the blue," Charlotte said.
"Sure..." Enzo simply nodded. He wasn’t picky about which fishing rod he used.
After placing the chair in front of the two fishing rods, he gestured for Charlotte to sit.
And the woman actually sat down immediately.
Enzo thought it was nothing short of a miracle.
So, he sat down beside her.
"Do you fish often?" he asked.
He couldn’t just keep staring at her face like he had been earlier.
"Yes. For about a year now, at my mother’s suggestion. She hoped it would change my hobbies. I have to admit, fishing can rival the excitement of gambling, but it still isn’t enough to make me quit. That’s mainly because I have no intention of quitting in the first place."
Enzo rolled his eyes at that.
His attention was then drawn to a speedboat passing through the middle of the river, drifting leisurely with the current while its engine was turned off.
Although the lights on the speedboat were rather dim, Enzo could still clearly see its passengers. One of them was a young, long-haired man sitting shirtless with his arms around two beautiful women, one on each side.
It was Levi, the man who had obtained the Heart of the River Leviathan.
Enzo hadn’t expected to see him here.
After all, Levi wasn’t from Z City. If he had been, Enzo would have recognized him much earlier.
"Levi Turner. He’s the governor’s nephew," Charlotte suddenly said.
"Really?" Enzo was surprised.
"It’s understandable that you don’t know. His father lives in New York and works as a financial investor there, investing the money generated by the governor. Have you ever dealt with him?" Charlotte asked curiously.
"Something like that..." Enzo answered briefly.
The details?
There were none, because that was Violet’s business, not his. He had never personally dealt with the man.
Charlotte looked curious, but she clearly realized that Enzo didn’t want to elaborate.
The two of them returned their attention to their fishing rods, neither showing any sign of movement.
Charlotte’s thoughts were impossible to read. Enzo couldn’t even tell what she was thinking.
He wondered what would happen if he held her hand or put an arm around her waist.
If she didn’t resist, it would certainly make everything much clearer.
However, Enzo knew that would be rushing things.
Charlotte barely seemed to blink as she stared at her fishing rod while waiting for a fish.
The focus she displayed was no different from when she played poker.
An hour passed.
Some of the other fishermen managed to catch large fish, but not the two of them.
RING!
The bell attached to the end of Charlotte’s fishing rod suddenly rang softly from a slight vibration.
Charlotte immediately stood up, grabbed the blue rod, and gave it a sharp tug.
Sure enough, the rod bent, and there was a noticeable pull, though it seemed rather weak.
Charlotte began reeling in the line, but instead of excitement, she furrowed her brows.
It was far too easy.
There was hardly any resistance at all.
When the end of the line finally came into view, it became clear that what had been caught was nothing more than a tiny shrimp, barely the size of a finger.
"Miss, just use that as bait. You might catch a much bigger shrimp," a middle-aged man fishing not far away suddenly commented.
Enzo chuckled softly but couldn’t help nodding in agreement.
"Shrimp makes great bait," he said.
"No need. I’ll let it go and wait for it to grow bigger," Charlotte refused.
She really did release the shrimp back into the river after carefully removing it from the hook.
She actually looked a little disappointed.
"Do you still want to fish?" Enzo asked.
He was personally losing interest. How could this even be called fishing when they had spent an entire hour without a single bite?
"No need. Next time, take me somewhere that actually has fish," Charlotte replied.
"If you want a place with fish, we’ll have to go deeper into the wilderness," Enzo answered.
Apparently, Charlotte was already planning to go fishing with him again.
"The wilderness? If the Amazon Rainforest were here, I could go in there too. Is there anywhere on Earth more dangerous than the Moba World?" Charlotte replied.
Enzo laughed at that.
For Awakeners like them, Earth really was a completely safe place. The only real threats they faced now could come from other humans.
Still, the thought of going into the wilderness alone with her—even if it was just an ordinary forest on Earth—made Enzo’s heart beat a little faster.
"All right. Let’s do it next time," Enzo said.
After that, Charlotte began putting away her fishing equipment.
"Let’s go..." She headed back toward her car.
Enzo was still the one driving.
Since Charlotte didn’t suggest going anywhere else, he drove toward the portal, occasionally glancing at the woman beside him.
Eventually, they arrived.
"That was a pleasant trip," Enzo said after stopping the car.
He was genuinely happy.
Who wouldn’t be after getting 250 million dollars?
If his uncle found out about it, he would probably beg Enzo to come back home.
"Good. I’m glad you enjoyed it," Charlotte replied.
She then got out of the car.
To Enzo’s surprise, she also headed toward the portal.
"Where are you going?" he asked.
"Home, of course. I live in the Sanctuary. They gave me a castle there. It’s quite comfortable," Charlotte replied.
"Ohhh..." Enzo nodded.
The two of them entered the portal, arriving back at the Sanctuary, which was already fairly quiet.
A few beginners could still be seen leaving the Monster Prison with exhausted expressions.
"By the way, tomorrow morning, I’m going to cook some rather rare fish myself. If you’re interested, you can come over," Charlotte said before simply walking away.
Enzo could only stare blankly after hearing that.
She had actually invited him to breakfast at her place.
But where was her castle?
Enzo walked into the Monster Prison, deep in thought.
Once inside, he realized it wasn’t nearly as quiet as it had seemed from outside.
It was still quite lively.
He simply didn’t see Bella. She had probably already gone to rest after becoming too exhausted.
Interestingly, he noticed three men dressed in black suits. They were the ones handling the cleanup.
His arrival immediately attracted the attention of the beginners.
They seemed curious about where he had been all this time.
Not wanting to continue being stared at, Enzo entered his post, sat directly on his bed, let out a long sigh, and stopped thinking about Charlotte.
"This ring."
He took out the golden ring engraved with a triangular symbol.
Combined with his father’s inheritance, he now practically possessed two rings.
Of course, the Ring of Star was obvious.
It was an SS-Class Artifact.
As for this golden ring...
It might not even be an artifact.
Enzo had begun to suspect that it might actually be a key.
Whoosh!
Violet appeared in front of him again.
She wasn’t sleepy yet.
It would be a waste not to do something while she was still awake.
As soon as she appeared, Enzo immediately took control of Violet.
She quickly left the Monster Prison unnoticed and headed toward the New York portal.
