Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure
Chapter 115: Xenomorph World 14Gazing up at the shimmering golden umbrella, she willed a neatly folded Thousand Paper Cranes to appear in her hand.
"Go, bring them all here!"
Perry Yates tossed the Thousand Paper Cranes into the air. The next second, the single Thousand Paper Cranes instantly split into countless paper cranes, which flapped their wings and flew off in every direction.
The Thousand Paper Cranes was a type of item used specifically for delivering messages.
Although it was only a two-star item, as long as a name was written on it, this Thousand Paper Cranes would reach the recipient no matter what, unless it was completely destroyed.
The recipient Perry Yates wrote on it was "player."
As for the message inside, there was actually nothing—just a single arrow. Following the arrow would lead them straight to her.
And so, Perry Yates settled down here.
On the seventh day of the game, no players had found her, and Elara Lynch and the others hadn’t returned, but she wasn’t worried.
Since she had nothing better to do, Perry Yates began to clean the streets, clearing away all the fallen building debris and scrapped cars.
It was a massive undertaking, but she was in no hurry.
「On the eighth day of the game.」
From a distance, Perry Yates saw a convoy of vehicles heading her way.
Seeing this, she guessed it must be people from the base.
Her guess proved correct when the convoy drew near.
Just then, Gavin Sawyer stepped out of a vehicle, accompanied by two men and a woman. All three bore a striking resemblance to Gavin—so much so that they were clearly his siblings, no DNA test needed.
Gazing at the massive golden umbrella in the sky, Gavin Sawyer approached his older brother. "What do you think, big brother? I was right, wasn’t I? This might be our only chance to wipe out the Xenomorphs."
Isaac Sawyer ignored Gavin and walked up to the golden protective shield, reaching out to touch it.
’It’s solid.’
However, when he tried to feel it again, his hand passed right through the shield with ease.
"Since you’ve come all this way, you might as well come in."
Perry Yates had appeared on the other side of the shield at some point, a mask on her face as she smiled at them.
As the convoy slowly entered the shield, Gavin Sawyer sat in his vehicle, marveling at the changes to the area.
Most of the rubble on the road was gone, clearly having been cleaned up. Many of the abandoned cars at the roadside had also disappeared. The once-withered greenbelts were now dotted with brilliant golden Sunflowers and a Bicolor Rose he had never seen before.
Once everyone was inside the shield, Perry Yates led Gavin Sawyer and his group into a building she had just cleared out.
The building had previously been a library. With everything inside cleared away, it was now quite spacious.
"Hello, I’m Isaac Sawyer. I’m here representing our base." Isaac extended a hand first, a gesture of goodwill.
Seeing this, Perry Yates also extended her hand and shook his. "You can just call me Boss."
"Alright, Boss," Isaac Sawyer readily agreed.
"We’ve brought twenty Xenomorph corpses this time. According to the price you gave us before, we can exchange them for two cards."
Perry Yates nodded. "That’s correct. But as I’ve also said, there’s a prerequisite: the Xenomorphs have to be useful."
"Of course we know that. You can inspect them yourself," said the short-haired woman behind Isaac Sawyer.
’I’ll definitely have to take a look.’
Isaac Sawyer directed his people to unload all the Xenomorph corpses they had brought.
There were twenty Xenomorph corpses, all of the same type. They looked like birds, were black all over, and the feathers on their wings had a metallic sheen.
But what was most striking was their mouthful of sharp teeth.
As everyone knows, birds don’t have teeth, but this Xenomorph had a mouth full of them. They looked incredibly sharp, capable of easily tearing a person to shreds.
"Identification."
Information about the Xenomorph quickly appeared before Perry Yates.
[Pigeon Xenomorph: A Xenomorph born from parasitizing a pigeon.]
[Status: Deceased]
[Extractable Materials: Wings. After being refined at high temperatures, can be worn to gain the ability of flight.]
[Eyes. After the liquid inside is distilled and purified, it can be applied as eye drops to gain vision comparable to a pigeon’s.]
After inspecting all the Pigeon Xenomorphs, Perry Yates nodded and had the people move all of them inside.
Seeing this, Isaac Sawyer knew that Perry Yates was very satisfied with the Xenomorphs they had brought.
"What kind of cards are you looking for?" Perry Yates asked, looking at them.
"We get to choose?" the other man asked in surprise.
"Why not? I’m a conscientious boss," Perry Yates said with a laugh.
Though the mask on her face prevented Isaac Sawyer and the others from seeing her smile.
"We’d like to know what types of cards there are."
Isaac Sawyer didn’t immediately state his choice, instead asking this question.
Perry Yates figured it wasn’t a secret, so she gave them a rundown of the card classifications.
"Cards are divided into two main categories: item cards and Skill Cards."
At this, Perry Yates pointed to the sky outside. "That’s an item card. Its function is protection."
Then she opened her hand, and an alluring Bicolor Rose appeared in her palm. "And this is a Skill Card."
"There are many types of item cards, covering almost every aspect, while Skill Cards are divided by different attributes."
"Besides that, there’s also a difference in level."
"For example, the one Elara Lynch fused with before was a one-star card, the lowest level among Skill Cards."
"Of course, a low level doesn’t mean the card isn’t strong."
"What level cards will you trade with us?" Isaac Sawyer asked.
"One-star or two-star," Perry Yates said.
"Why not higher-level cards?" Gavin Sawyer asked.
Hearing this, Perry Yates propped her chin on one hand and said, "That’s because you can’t afford them, of course. Here, three-star cards are custom orders. They must be traded for with other cards. Or, it’s not impossible if you can provide enough Xenomorph corpses, but..."
"Trust me, given your current situation, you’re better off getting a few low star cards than paying a huge price for a single High Star Card."
"Besides, like I said, low star cards aren’t necessarily weak."
Perry Yates had said her piece. What they chose to do now was their own business.
Then, she swiped her hand through the air, and a dozen or so different cards materialized before them.
"Half of these are Skill Cards, and the other half are item cards. Pick two, and then you can go."
With that, Perry Yates turned and walked away, heading toward the Pigeon Xenomorphs that had been carried inside.
