While Isaac Sawyer and the others were still making their choice, Perry Yates had already taken out her specialized toolset for breaking down corpses and started dismantling all the pigeon Xenomorphs.

Just as Perry was halfway through, Isaac Sawyer’s group finally made their decision.

They chose two cards: the strongest attack-type Thunder Attribute Skill Card and a two-star item card, the Space Backpack.

After everyone had left, Perry spent another hour processing the remaining pigeon Xenomorphs, then set fire to the remaining corpses, burning them to ash.

When the flames died down, all that was left on the ground was a large amount of black ash, and within the ash, White Cards.

Seeing this and recalling the last few times this happened, Perry realized, ’It seems these cards only appear after the bodies are cremated.’

She collected all the cards—no more, no less, exactly twenty White Cards.

The front of the cards depicted a blob of black slime; it didn’t look like anything good.

"Ascension."

A white light flashed, and the card in Perry Yates’s hand changed slightly.

[Alien Gene Card: Upon use, you can designate a specific body part to mutate.

Note: The same person can use a maximum of three Alien Gene Cards. Otherwise, they will completely transform into a Xenomorph.]

’Mutate a specific part of my body?’

Perry Yates glanced at her own hand, imagined it turning into tentacles, and couldn’t help but shudder.

’Forget it. I’ll just sell them to someone else.’

「Day nine of the game.」

Today, Perry Yates deployed her Safe House and moved in. She then sent out her Clone to clean up the trash on the streets, while also spreading the vines of the Sunflowers, Space Grass, and Bicolor Roses to every corner within the protective shield.

Perry had thought no one would show up today either, but in the afternoon, she noticed two or three people in the distance walking toward her.

Landon Vance was holding a white piece of paper, on which was a stark black arrow.

From a distance, upon spotting the golden protective shield, Landon Vance said to his companions, "Found it! We found it! It really is the tavern boss."

Looking at the golden shield, they recognized it at a glance as an item, and a high-level one at that.

On all of Cerulea, the only person who could likely afford such an extravagant item was the owner of The Card Tavern.

At this thought, their pace quickened involuntarily.

Even Perry herself didn’t realize that in the eyes of other players, she was gradually becoming a figure akin to a guardian deity.

When they finally entered the protective shield, they let out a heavy sigh of relief.

Even though they were still in the game, looking up at the golden shield gave them an inexplicable sense of security.

It felt like a wanderer, adrift for many years, finally coming home.

Just then, Perry was using vines to drag two abandoned cars outside. Seeing the three newcomers, she ordered them without ceremony, "Perfect timing. Get to work."

In the real-world Card Tavern, Perry wasn’t one to put on airs and could chat with anyone, so they didn’t show much resentment at her commands now.

After a short rest, Landon Vance and his two companions began clearing the trash inside the shield with Perry, working until nightfall.

During the day, the Sunflowers inside the shield absorbed a great deal of sunlight. At night, they released it, illuminating the interior of the shield.

From the outside, the area within the shield still looked pitch black, with only a faint golden light shimmering in mid-air. Inside, however, it was as bright as day.

Inside the shield, Perry checked the time and said to the three, "The cafeteria is over there. You can get free food inside. As for a place to stay, just find anywhere you like."

Hearing this, the three of them nodded and headed toward the cafeteria.

Perry had cleared out the cafeteria on the first day, stocking it with various snacks collected from the previous game.

After she used Ascension on the cards to raise them to three stars, the snacks became automated food stalls that could produce food without needing an operator.

Her original plan had been to place these automated food stalls in Phantom Street, but she was flatly rejected.

The reason given was that Phantom Street felt that for a place of its stature—the one and only Phantom Street, with a horror theme—having a bunch of food stalls inside just wouldn’t do.

「Day ten of the game.」

According to the pattern of previous games, on this day, the disaster they were facing would offer a chance for survival.

However, Perry, safe inside her protective shield, didn’t feel much of anything.

Compared to the escalating disaster, she was more concerned about something else.

That day, Isaac Sawyer returned, once again leading a grand convoy of vehicles.

This time, the convoy was several times larger than the long line of cars from before.

However, the one leading the group this time wasn’t Isaac Sawyer, but another young man—a flamboyant character with dyed red hair, an earring, and sunglasses.

Ian Usher walked up to the protective shield, took off his sunglasses, and looked at the golden barrier with a playful, curious expression.

The next second, a ball of burning flame appeared in his hand.

The flame collided with the shield, creating a wall of fire. The searing heat forced Isaac Sawyer and the others, who had just gotten out of their cars, to back away.

A few minutes later, Ian Usher withdrew his hand, and the flames vanished.

The shield hadn’t taken any damage from the attack, which made Ian Usher’s assault look rather ridiculous.

Just then, Perry appeared at the perfect moment. She tilted her head and looked at Ian Usher with a mocking gaze, like a parent watching their misbehaving child. All that was missing were the words, "Are you done with your tantrum? If you’re done, come home for dinner."

The next second, the ground trembled slightly. Countless vines burst from the earth and began to grow rapidly. Myriad Bicolor Roses bloomed all around them, beautiful and dangerous.

"A misunderstanding! This is all a misunderstanding! We have no ill intentions."

Isaac Sawyer had never seen such a grand spectacle. The surrounding roses looked beautiful, but they were like ferocious beasts poised to strike.

He had no doubt that if she had intended to kill them just now, everyone there, with the probable exception of Ian Usher, would be dead.

Isaac Sawyer hurriedly said to Perry, "Boss, we don’t have any ill intent. Just now... just now, Ian Usher was just playing a little joke on you."

"So it was just a joke."

Perry said softly, "Then let me play a little joke on you, too."

As she spoke, the surrounding rose vines resumed their frantic growth, not stopping until they had completely enveloped everyone except for Ian Usher.
