After all, Xenomorphs can parasitize human bodies, making them impossible to distinguish by appearance alone.

But just because the naked eye couldn’t tell them apart didn’t mean the protective shield couldn’t.

So, you think that player let them come right in because he wasn’t being cautious?

Wrong. Completely and utterly wrong.

That these people could smoothly enter the protective shield meant they posed no threat. Conversely, if they couldn’t get in, they would have no way of harming him inside the shield.

The two people from Base Two exchanged a look, then, as if having made some kind of decision, returned to their car.

As the engine started, the car slowly began to move.

The front of the first car passed smoothly through the protective shield.

Seeing this, the player from before and the others who had gathered to watch all cleared a path.

"This convoy is bigger than any of the previous ones. Looks like we’re going to be busy for a while."

"This is quite a haul. I’m claiming twenty Xenomorph corpses this time, and none of you better fight me for them!"

"Twenty? In your dreams."

Just as the players were discussing this, the unexpected happened.

The front of the first car got stuck right after passing through the protective shield. No matter how the driver floored the gas pedal, it couldn’t move another inch.

"Everyone, could you help us out? Your device seems to be broken. Would you mind troubling yourselves to come out and check on it?"

A man leaned his head out of the passenger seat, his tone tinged with helplessness.

But if you looked closely, you could see the flicker of panic in his eyes.

After all, while they claimed the device was the problem, only they knew the truth and what was really loaded in the back of their vehicle.

However, even though the players didn’t know what was going on, they weren’t idiots.

There was no way they were going to go outside when something was so obviously wrong.

Just then, a player emerged from the back of the crowd.

As he drew closer, his physique began to swell. In the blink of an eye, he transformed from a perfectly built middle-aged man into a man with muscles like a small mountain.

He walked up to the vehicle, grabbed the front with both hands, and with a great heave, lifted it clean off the ground.

As the vehicle lost its balance, people could clearly hear crashing sounds from the rear, along with gunshots and screams.

It seemed a gun had gone off by accident.

With a final exertion of strength, the middle-aged man hurled the entire vehicle away.

The vehicle traced a perfect parabola through the air before crashing heavily to the ground. At the same time, all the people inside were thrown out.

Now, the players inside the protective shield got a clear look at the newcomers. They were all in full combat gear and carrying weapons, obviously well-prepared.

Seeing their plan was exposed, the rest of them dropped the pretense.

They moved in a well-drilled manner, quickly lining up all the vehicles to form a solid defensive line.

From behind the vehicles, the dark muzzles of guns—and even rocket launchers—were aimed at the players inside the protective shield.

Although the players had special abilities granted by cards, their bodies were still made of flesh and blood. They could get hurt, and weapons like guns could still inflict fatal injuries.

Ordinarily, when faced with so many guns and no confidence in their ability to instantly kill everyone, the best course of action would be to retreat or surrender.

But now...

With the protective shield, they really weren’t afraid. They couldn’t even be bothered to take cover.

"What’s this? Trying to treat us like pushovers? You think this is enough to take us on?" a player in the crowd said with great interest.

"Teach them a lesson. Let them see what we’re capable of."

Another player, a man of few words and much action, conjured a two-meter-diameter fireball with his bare hands and simply threw it.

The fireball flew as if it had a tracking system, heading straight for the barricade formed by the locals.

In the blink of an eye, the once-solid barricade was blown to smithereens. A truck was flipped onto its side, rolling several times before coming to a stop.

The combat suits worn by the locals seemed to be special; despite taking a direct hit, they only sustained minor injuries and looked a bit ragged.

"They’re not even hurt by that? Have you gone soft?"

Everyone saw that while the massive fireball had been a grand spectacle, it hadn’t caused a single casualty. The worst injuries were merely torn clothes and some scrapes.

At this, everyone turned to look at the player who had just attacked, their eyes full of suspicion.

Their gazes made their thoughts perfectly clear.

The player who had attacked felt extremely stifled under their questioning gazes.

After all, he knew full well that while that attack hadn’t been his all, he had still used seventy percent of his power. Normally, it shouldn’t have done absolutely nothing.

Just then, a shocking scene unfolded: after the locals climbed back to their feet, their bodies began to sway unnaturallly.

The next second, the backs of their outfits were torn apart as countless appendages resembling Spider Legs sprouted from their backs.

"Xenomorphs!"

One quick-thinking player grabbed an identification item and aimed it at the "Xenomorphs" outside, initiating an Identification.

[White Symbiote: A Xenomorph is extracted live while still in its egg, then encased in a special solution and ingested. Once symbiosis is complete, the host gains a portion of the Xenomorph’s abilities.]

This White Symbiote couldn’t be called a true Xenomorph, but it couldn’t be called human, either. It was half-and-half, at best.

"What about weaknesses? Did it mention any?" someone asked.

"Yes. Though they’ve inherited some of the Xenomorph’s abilities, their weakness is also very obvious: their human bodies, especially the abdomen. The symbiosis is highly unstable."

Once they learned their opponents’ weakness, the rest was easy to handle.

In less than half an hour, all the White Symbiotes were eliminated.

「On the twenty-fourth day of the game.」

A huge horde of Xenomorphs suddenly found them and launched an all-out, 360-degree siege on the protective shield, leaving no blind spots.

The players wouldn’t get hurt, but they felt overwhelmed in the face of so many Xenomorphs. The main issue was exhaustion; their internal energy regeneration couldn’t keep up with their consumption.

Perry Yates had no good solution for this. After all, the most direct way to recover energy was to eat energy-rich foods, but...

Perry Yates didn’t even have enough of that food for herself, so how could she possibly take it out to share with others? So, they would just have to take it slow. The Xenomorphs couldn’t get in anyway, so it was no big deal.
