Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure
Chapter 146: Island Royale 15Things got simple after that. Perry Yates didn’t even need to lift a finger; Amber Sheridan and Evan Fuller were more than enough.
In less than ten minutes, all twenty-nine people in the camp had been dealt with.
To Perry Yates’s surprise, not a single one of the twenty-nine people dropped the kind of card she had seen before.
Furthermore, Amber Sheridan and Evan Fuller were clearly aware that the cards existed. Perry noticed a flicker of disappointment in Amber’s eyes.
’So, what are those cards for?’
’Should I take out my card and ask them about it now?’
After a moment of thought, Perry Yates mentally shook her head, dismissing the idea. ’Better not. We’ve only just met, after all.’
’Demonstrating my value is to make them take me seriously. As for the card, I’d better not show it. At least, not right now.’
After dealing with everyone in the camp, the three of them didn’t linger.
According to the memories she had gleaned from the plants, Justin Shaw and the other Dealer Players weren’t here. They had followed the larger group.
Perry Yates, walking alongside Amber Sheridan and Evan Fuller, asked in a low voice, "Should we keep going?"
"Do you know where the others are?" Evan Fuller asked.
Perry Yates didn’t answer right away. She simply placed a hand on a nearby tree and closed her eyes, sensing for a moment. Then, she opened them and said, "I didn’t a moment ago, but I do now."
Then, with Perry Yates leading the way, Evan Fuller and Amber Sheridan found another one of the groups that had left.
This group was even larger than the one at the camp, with a total of fifty-two people. Their leader was none other than Rosemary Archer.
’I don’t see Morgan Abbott. Did they split up?’
When Perry and her companions arrived, the people were gathered in a circle at Rosemary Archer’s command. An intricate Array was drawn on the ground, and Rosemary Archer sat cross-legged in its very center, her expression pious as she muttered what sounded like a prayer.
Seeing this, Perry Yates decisively released her Sleeping Cloud Mist. A few minutes later, everyone was incapacitated.
Just as before, Evan Fuller and Amber Sheridan began to kill them one by one. Rosemary Archer was the last.
When Rosemary Archer was killed, her body transformed into a monster. After this monster was also killed, a beam of light wreathed in black energy suddenly flew out of her body.
The light came to a stop about half a meter above the ground, and then a card slowly materialized.
Amber Sheridan carefully took the card in her hand, turning to Evan Fuller with a joyful expression. "Master Ford, we found it."
Perry Yates drew closer as well, feigning curiosity as she looked at the card Amber Sheridan held so carefully.
On the front was a ferocious monster, slightly different from the others, and on the back were the words "Sin of Greed."
’So it really is the Seven Sins,’ Perry Yates thought. Outwardly, however, she asked with curiosity, "This card seems a little different from the ones we fused with before. It doesn’t look like a good thing."
"This is a Lottery Card."
Amber Sheridan’s words made Perry Yates’s eyes widen in an instant.
"A Lottery Card? What’s that?"
Hearing her question, Amber Sheridan explained, "A Lottery Card is a card that drops from Hunters. Their quantity is limited—there are never more than ten per game. Since this time it’s the Seven Sins, I’m guessing there are only seven.
If you have a Lottery Card, you can enter a drawing in the System Space after the game ends. And let me let you in on a little secret: the prize pool is full of high-tier cards."
After hearing Amber Sheridan’s explanation, Perry Yates nodded to show she understood. She then remembered the Sin of Envy card in her space.
’Sometimes I’m just too lucky. I wonder if this counts as a beginner’s grace period.’
While Perry was lost in thought, unseen by her, a scholarly-looking man perched in a tree several hundred meters away was staring intently in their direction through a pair of binoculars.
A savage expression ruined his refined demeanor. His glasses had been carelessly tossed aside. In that moment, Morgan Abbott looked like a demon that had clawed its way out of hell.
In fact, Morgan Abbott had originally left with Rosemary Archer’s group. However, just before the ritual began, he was suddenly struck by a sense of unease and decided to slip away quietly.
He never would have imagined it would be the best decision of his life. Otherwise, he would be a corpse right now.
But having just witnessed the murder of the woman who had been his beloved partner for decades, an endless fire of vengeance surged in Morgan Abbott’s heart. He swore he would tear those three Dealer Players limb from limb.
However, Morgan Abbott knew full well that he currently lacked the power to do so. Therefore, he had to complete the ritual that Rosemary Archer had left unfinished.
This ritual wasn’t part of some evil cult. Rather, at the very beginning of the game, a mysterious voice had told them that if they sacrificed enough people, they could obtain power far surpassing that of the Dealer Players.
They had spent the last few days exhausting every means to win people over, all to gather enough sacrifices.
Thanks to Morgan Abbott’s identity as a "prophet," they had managed to trick quite a few people, aside from a handful of exceptionally wary individuals.
Their plan had been on the verge of success, only for this to happen.
Morgan Abbott shot a venomous glare at the three figures in the distance. No one saw—not even he himself noticed—that his once-black pupils had turned a terrifying, blood-red.
Ever since learning that the pitch-black cards were actually Lottery Cards, Perry Yates began searching for non-Dealer Players more actively.
This time, she no longer stood on the sidelines, personally taking the initiative to kill several Hunters herself.
Of course, since she already had one card as a safety net, Perry was more proactive, but not overly so.
Just as the trio finished off a few more non-Dealer Players, the bushes to their side suddenly rustled.
Perry Yates felt a scorching heat on her wrist. Her body reacted faster than her mind, and in the next instant, she reappeared several dozen meters away.
Evan Fuller and Amber Sheridan also reacted with incredible speed, instantly clearing the area.
Just then, a dark figure shot out from the bushes.
The figure seemed to have no intention of attacking them. Like a startled rabbit, it turned and sprinted away, disappearing rapidly into the distance.
But... rabbits aren’t that large.
Perry Yates sharply sensed something was off about the dark figure. A poker card, imbued with the power of wind, shot from her hand.
The power of the wind was utterly devastating. Everywhere it passed, it left deep gashes in the ground and on the trees—a terrifying sight.
