Apocalypse Descends: I Win Effortlessly by Turning Trash into Treasure
Chapter 200: Cave Survival 10Even though she had identified the source of the danger, Perry Yates had no intention of dealing with it herself.
’After all, there’s a perfectly good strongman right next to me. Why should I get my own hands dirty?’
’Besides, Alan Usher was entirely responsible for her being here in the first place. Just making him do a little work was her being merciful, right?’
Thinking this, Perry Yates reached out and poked Alan Usher, who was beside her.
Because he had been secretly on guard, Alan Usher sensed her movement the instant she made it.
"What is it?" Alan Usher asked, suppressing the impulse he just had to attack.
Perry Yates shot him a look. ’Don’t think I didn’t see that. This guy’s hand almost tried to snap my neck.’
She glared at him fiercely before pointing toward the orange-red lizard’s location.
Seeing that Perry Yates was pointing at the lizard with its oddly sultry pose, Alan Usher instantly understood.
Alan Usher raised his hand and sent out a Wind Blade, intending to kill the sultry yet fragile lizard.
In his eyes, the lizard was small and defenseless, so fragile that he could crush it with the slightest pressure.
However, the lizard seemed to sense the danger. The moment the Wind Blade neared, its body vanished, reappearing in another spot in the blink of an eye.
’So fast?’
An ordinary person might not have seen it clearly, but Perry Yates had an item augmenting her vision, so she saw everything.
The lizard moved to another location the very instant the Wind Blade would have touched it.
It wasn’t Instant Teleportation; it was relying purely on its speed.
Even with her item slowing down the motion, the lizard was still so fast that it left an afterimage in Perry’s vision.
Next, Alan Usher tried a few more times, but he still couldn’t succeed.
The lizard would always wait until the last possible second before an attack landed to move, and it didn’t move far.
After dodging the attack, it would resume its previous pose and watch them, looking for all the world like it was taunting them.
Alan Usher was, of course, provoked by a tiny lizard. He stared at it, his expression gradually growing serious as the aura around him turned violent.
Seeing this, Perry Yates quickly stopped him. "Don’t be reckless. There are other people here."
’Compared to previous games, this one was much safer—or so Perry thought.’
’However, even though it was safe, it wasn’t without its restrictions.’
’The biggest limitation in this game was the space. The surrounding area was so narrow that they couldn’t use many of their large-scale Skills at all.’
’Even if they tried to force it, the Skills’ power would be greatly diminished, not to mention they might even threaten their own safety and that of others.’
Hearing this, Alan Usher glanced at Perry Yates and said, "Then you do it."
His words were clearly laced with irritation.
As one of the first-batch players, Alan Usher had his pride. He must have felt humiliated, unable to catch a tiny lizard after all this time, especially with an "outsider" like Perry Yates present.
Seeing his reaction, Perry Yates pursed her lips and said, "Fine, I’ll do it."
Learning from the recent failure, Perry Yates didn’t opt for a direct attack this time. The lizard’s speed was nearly on par with Instant Teleportation. Unless she could use a wide-ranging, indiscriminate weapon, she had no way of hitting it in this tiny space.
With this in mind, a ring of green Wood Attribute Energy suddenly radiated out from her feet.
As this energy spread through the cave, plants quickly began to sprout, gradually covering the entire cavern.
After a few minutes, the once bare, sweltering cave had transformed into a lush, green grotto, looking vibrant and full of life.
Alan Usher was completely baffled by Perry Yates’s actions.
A Wood Attribute Skill could stimulate plant growth, but doing so was incredibly draining for a player, especially creating so much at once.
Just then, a sharp cry suddenly came from the undergrowth, followed by a jet of orange-red flame bursting from a corner.
In an instant, the surrounding plants were burned to cinders.
This scene startled both Perry Yates and Alan Usher, and the same thought popped into their minds:
’This is no ordinary lizard.’
Perry Yates regrew the plants in the scorched area, but this time, she infused them with Solar attribute energy, making them fire-resistant.
Soon, the sharp cry rang out again, this time from a different spot.
Once again, the same flames erupted, but this time, the plants weren’t scorched.
Perry Yates controlled the plants, wrapping them tightly around the small lizard to prevent its escape and to contain its flames.
Then, she reached into her pocket, and a card appeared in her hand.
With a flash of purple light, the card transformed into an antique-style cage.
Perry Yates directed the plants to move the lizard into the cage. After shutting the door, she finally released the lizard from the vines’ grasp.
Realizing it had been caught, the small lizard opened its mouth and spewed fire, attempting to burn Perry Yates—the one who had taken its freedom—to death.
However, Perry Yates had been prepared for this. The cage she used was no ordinary one; being fireproof and waterproof was just a basic feature.
Watching the furious lizard in the cage, Perry Yates smiled happily, completely oblivious to the profound look Alan Usher was giving her from the side.
Facing the lizard in the cage, Perry Yates used one of her identification items.
[Blaze Lizard — Hatchling
In its hatchling stage, a Blaze Lizard’s speed can exceed the speed of light. It is extremely curious about everything and can spew fire from its mouth, with temperatures capable of exceeding one thousand degrees Celsius.
Due to its high internal body temperature, the ambient temperature wherever a Blaze Lizard is present will continuously rise.]
After reading the description, Perry Yates had a moment of realization. ’So that’s why this place is so hot.’
Just as Perry Yates was about to put the Blaze Lizard away, a large hand suddenly blocked her.
"What are you doing?"
Perry Yates took two steps back, watching Alan Usher warily, her eyes treating him like a villain.
"What are *you* doing?" Alan Usher retorted.
At his question, Perry Yates held up the cage in her hand. "Isn’t it obvious? I’m putting away my spoils of war."
"You’re planning to take this lizard back with you?"
Perry Yates felt that Alan Usher was stating the obvious. ’Haven’t I made myself clear enough?’
Seemingly realizing he had misspoken, Alan Usher rephrased the question. "What do you plan to do with this lizard once you take it back?"
"Sell it to the Survival Game Administration or The Card Tavern."
’It’s an item from inside the game; there will be no shortage of buyers.’
