These people were wearing decent clothes, but their complexions were ghastly. They were sallow and emaciated, with sunken eyes that didn’t match their attire at all.

’I didn’t see these people yesterday.’

Perry Yates thought to herself.

Last night, the captain had held a small welcome banquet for all the tourists on the cruise ship. Every passenger who had boarded early received an invitation.

Perry Yates had a good memory, so she was certain these people hadn’t been at the banquet yesterday. They must have boarded today.

Just then, a middle-aged man in a suit, having just wolfed down a super-sized portion of egg fried rice, shouted to a nearby attendant, "Waiter! Get me ten more orders of egg fried rice, ten orders of fried noodles, and also ten—no, twenty—king crabs and Australian lobsters. Pack it all up."

After hearing the man’s request, a nearby attendant replied in a gentle, slightly apologetic tone, "I’m sorry, sir, but our restaurant doesn’t allow take-out. We ask for your understanding."

The attendant’s attitude was very gentle. However, the middle-aged man, who had just been sitting there picking his teeth with a toothpick, suddenly scowled, stood up, and slapped the attendant across the face.

SLAP!

The sharp sound of the slap echoed through the restaurant, instantly drawing everyone’s gaze. Many diners even stopped eating and turned to look at the middle-aged man.

"What do you mean, no take-out?! I paid a fortune to get on this ship, and now you’re nickel-and-diming me over some food? Let me tell you, I’m taking this food today, one way or another. Otherwise, you can give me a damn refund!"

The middle-aged man was incredibly arrogant. In his mind, the ship had already left port; it wasn’t as if they could just send him back to shore.

The slapped attendant clutched his cheek, his eyes pleadingly scanning the crowd of onlookers, but not a single person stepped forward to help him.

Seeing this, he could only say in a low voice, "I’m sorry, sir. This is really outside my scope of authority, but I can go and ask my manager. Please wait a moment.

With that, the attendant quickly scrambled away, clutching his face as he left.

However, Perry Yates, standing some distance away, noticed the flash of venomous hatred in the attendant’s eyes as he lowered his head to leave.

’Then again, it makes sense. He was just doing his job and got slapped for no reason. Worse, not only did no one help, but they all just gawked at him. Who could possibly remain calm in a situation like that?’

So, Perry Yates didn’t dwell on the resentment in the attendant’s eyes, figuring it was just a natural human reaction.

Her attention was now fully on the middle-aged man. After the attendant left, he strutted over to the dessert section like a triumphant general.

He shooed away a young couple who were browsing the desserts and began picking out his own favorites.

In no time, the man’s tray was piled high with desserts.

However, Perry Yates wasn’t watching the desserts, but rather...

Every time the middle-aged man reached for a dessert, he would physically pick up one, but three or four would vanish from the dessert tower.

’Space!’

That was the first thought that popped into Perry Yates’s mind.

’This middle-aged man has a spatial ability. But aren’t spatial items banned? Or is it a spatial Skill?’

’No, that’s not right. The only ones banned are Croupiers.’

Thinking of this, Perry Yates sighed. If he had a spatial ability, it was no wonder he had wanted so much food.

Not long after the attendant left, several others appeared, carrying packed food. They respectfully handed it to the middle-aged man.

Seeing this, the other diners in the restaurant also began demanding take-out. To every request, the attendants agreed with a smile.

The actions of these people led Perry Yates, watching from the side, to form a few theories about their identities.

Just then, an attendant noticed Perry Yates and approached her. "Miss, would you also like to have some food packed?"

Hearing this, Perry Yates shook her head politely. "No, thank you. I’m watching my weight. If I have too much food around, I won’t be able to control myself and will eat it all."

For a woman, losing weight is a lifelong battle.

"Besides, I prefer fresh food. I finally get to take a trip; it would be pretty pathetic to spend it eating leftovers in my room."

The attendant paused for a moment at Perry Yates’s words, then broke into another smile.

This time, his smile was clearly much more genuine.

"You’re right. It is pathetic to eat leftovers when you’re supposed to be on vacation." After speaking, the attendant glanced at the people demanding to have their food packed, a meaningful look in his eyes.

Since it wasn’t a standard mealtime, the restaurant wasn’t very crowded.

Soon, it was noon. Some people who had heard about the earlier incident also tried asking the attendants to pack food to take back to their rooms, and every request was granted.

Perry Yates went to the buffet area. To her surprise, this time even the desserts had question marks over them.

The hand she was reaching out with to grab a dessert paused. She then glanced at the pudding next to them.

’The pudding doesn’t have a question mark. I’ll have that.’

The various candies next to it didn’t have question marks either, so she grabbed a handful and slipped them into her pocket.

After leaving the restaurant, she went out onto the deck. Staring down at the churning sea below, her mind raced with a thousand thoughts.

’What kind of disaster is it this time?’

’It’s not going to be something like the Titanic hitting an iceberg, is it? But I checked the Haisa’s route, and there are no icebergs anywhere along our path.’

Just then, a wave crashed onto the deck, carrying a fish with it.

The unlucky fish flopped on the deck twice before going still.

Just as Perry Yates was about to pick it up, she suddenly noticed something black near the fish’s gills.

But in the blink of an eye, the black thing vanished, as if it had never been there at all.

But Perry Yates was certain she hadn’t been mistaken. She had just seen something black burrow into the fish’s gills.

’A parasite?’

A shiver ran down Perry Yates’s spine at the thought. She had been about to pick up the fish for an extra meal, but now she wouldn’t dare. Grabbing a nearby mop, she pushed the fish off the deck and back into the sea. She made a silent vow: from now on, she would only eat cooked fish, never raw. She had to be responsible for her own health.
