’I’m not sure. I’ll take another look.’

Although she’d faintly heard a sound from inside the container, Perry Yates still wasn’t entirely sure, so she decided to investigate further.

However, the closer she got, the clearer the sound from inside became—a noise like countless people scraping their fingernails across sheet metal.

Thankfully, the container was well soundproofed. Otherwise, such a piercing noise would have attracted the attention of everyone on the cruise ship long ago.

As Perry Yates hurried closer to see what was inside, she discovered the container had been welded shut from both the inside and the outside. The entrance she had seen earlier was just a facade.

’No wonder there were signs of it being forced open at the entrance.’

’Wait, no.’

Perry Yates directed her spiritual power to circle the container twice. She discovered that, compared to the other containers, the welding marks on this one were much newer—it must have been welded shut just recently.

In other words, those people hadn’t failed. They had successfully opened the container.

’I’ll go in and see what’s inside.’

With that thought, Perry Yates sent her Spiritual Body directly into the container. She regretted it almost immediately.

Perry Yates, who was lying on a lounge chair, shot her eyes open and sat bolt upright, her chest heaving.

’That scared the hell out of me.’

The container wasn’t filled with just anything—it was packed with corpses. No, to be more precise, they were zombies.

There were several thousand of them packed into the cramped container. The walls were covered in scratch marks.

Once Perry Yates had calmed down, she formed a new Spiritual Body and sent it flying toward the aft of the deck again. The previous one had dissipated the moment she saw the zombies, her shock too great to sustain it.

This time, her targets were the other containers.

Ten-some minutes later, Perry Yates had scanned all the containers. Her conclusion: aside from a few filled with basic supplies, the rest were all packed with zombies—tens of thousands of them in total.

The zombies were trapped, but they were constantly clawing at the container walls. It didn’t seem like a major issue for now, but as the saying goes, constant dripping wears away the stone. And it was only the third day of the game.

With more than twenty days remaining, Perry Yates couldn’t be sure the zombies wouldn’t eventually break through if left unchecked.

Besides the zombies, she also had to be wary of human error. After all, with so many people on the cruise, who could guarantee some overly curious ’genius’ wouldn’t show up?

Sometimes, all the careful scheming of a villain is no match for a fool’s moment of inspiration.

’In Perry Yates’s opinion, these zombie-filled containers were a ticking time bomb. The best solution was to get rid of them immediately. As for how...’

Perry Yates took off her sunglasses, her eyes falling on the calm, waveless sea outside.

The sea could bury anything—including these zombies.

But how could she get the containers, zombies and all, into the ocean?

Having discovered the containers’ secret, Perry Yates was no longer in the mood for sunbathing. She decided to head back to her room and give the problem some serious thought.

Back in her room, Perry Yates mulled over how to sink all the zombie-filled containers to the bottom of the sea.

The area around the containers was swarming with patrol teams, making it nearly impossible to approach. That meant she would have to use an item or a Skill.

Perry Yates considered the size of the containers. Her Any Door, even at maximum size, wouldn’t be big enough—unless the container could be tipped vertically through it.

But that would require a large enough patch of Space Grass to support it, and they were on a ship.

Space Grass had a strong Life Force and could grow even on the ship, but grass suddenly sprouting on deck would be far too conspicuous. It would definitely attract the attention of the Dealer Players and other players alike.

Most importantly, she couldn’t guarantee someone wouldn’t just pull it out while it was growing.

Besides, the containers were stacked. Moving one would disturb the one on top, and the immense noise from the Teleportation Gate would surely alert everyone.

’What if I have the Cannibal Flower go in and eat all the zombies?’

She immediately rejected the idea. Her Cannibal Flower didn’t just eat anything. What if it got infected with the zombie virus?

After much deliberation, Perry Yates decided to play the long game. It was only the third day, after all. The zombies probably couldn’t get out, and with so many patrols, no one else could get near them. That gave her time.

With that, Perry Yates immediately formed a Spiritual Body, directing it to carry the Space Grass seeds and fly outside.

Planting the seeds on the bottom would be too easily discovered, and moving a lower container would affect the ones on top. So, Perry Yates decided to start from the top down.

But she quickly ran into her first problem.

While Space Grass had a strong Life Force and could survive in many harsh environments, sheet metal wasn’t one of them.

Left with no other choice, Perry Yates began using her Spiritual Body to transport soil to the container. As long as she could get a single stalk of Space Grass to take root, the rest would be much easier.

’Good thing I fused with an Earth Attribute card earlier.’

「The fourth day of the game.」

After working all night, Perry Yates could sense that the Space Grass by the containers was growing well.

’Making a move during the day is too risky. I’ll wait for tonight. In the meantime, I can plant more Space Grass.’

Perry Yates left her room, swung by the restaurant to grab some food, and then went to go sunbathe.

That evening, Perry Yates returned to her room. She lay down on her bed, took a deep breath, and prepared to act.

Meanwhile, at the aft of the deck, a circle of emerald Space Grass now grew in the crevices atop one of the containers.

At Perry Yates’s command, the Space Grass began to glow faintly under the Moonlight. A moment later, an Any Door formed from pure Moonlight appeared beneath the container, covering roughly half its underside.

The now-unbalanced container instantly began to tilt, the collision creating a tremendous crash. The nearby patrol teams heard the sound and rushed toward the source.

However, by the time they arrived, they only caught sight of the container’s corner vanishing, as if devoured by some monster of the night. Then, from the stern of the ship, came a loud PLOP—the sound of a massive object hitting the water. The resulting splash was so large it even sprayed onto the deck.

Perry Yates, meanwhile, was ecstatic. ’One down.’

She had counted earlier: there were thirteen containers in total, and a full eleven of them were filled with zombies.
