Apocalypse Transmigration - The Card Captor System
Chapter 133: Leo Vs AliensLeo wove through the grasping hands of the zombie horde, his movements liquid and precise.
SHING!
Black blood sprayed across the asphalt as a decapitated head spiraled into the air.
SHING!
His katana met collarbone and sheared downward, splitting a second zombie cleanly in half with a wet, heavy thud.
The western zone had been dead silent when he first arrived. Now, the concrete vibrated beneath his boots. The area swelled with guttural roars, the dragging shuffle of heavy footsteps, and the chaotic tide of countless undead pouring from alleyways and shattered storefronts.
Leo halted.
His eyes narrowed beneath his hood.
Something was happening.
Massive numbers of zombies poured in from every direction, bodies colliding as they bottlenecked in the streets. The previously scattered undead were now moving with a chilling, synchronized purpose.
Something big is about to happen.
Leo lowered his katana, letting the blade rest at his side.
Looks like training time is over. Time to finish this.
Closing his eyes, he pushed his Void Sense outward. The invisible wave of perception swept through the surrounding horde like a cold ripple over dark water.
One location.
Two.
Three.
Leo opened his eyes. His Void Sense had run into three distinct voids—static-filled blind spots hidden among the sea of rotting bodies.
A faint smile appeared beneath his hood.
Found you. Three of them, huh?
Earlier, Leo wondered what had stopped his Void Sense from reaching into the basement. Now, he finally understood.
The one-eyed aliens. Their strange, ambient psychic frequencies acted like a jamming signal against his senses.
"Void Walk."
Leo vanished. A heartbeat later, the air displaced with a sharp crack, and he materialized right in the middle of the horde.
A Stalker Zombie froze in place, its limbs twitching erratically. Embedded deep within the rotting meat of its torso sat an enormous, pulsating eyeball, its pupil darting wildly.
Leo didn’t hesitate. His katana flashed forward. The blade, cloaked in the pitch-black aura of Void Edge, swung straight for the gelatinous eye.
BZZZZT!
The sword slammed into an invisible barrier, sparking with violent purple friction. The sheer force of his attack shattered the mental shield into psychic glass in a split second.
CRACK!
But that brief moment of resistance was all the enemy needed. Two zombies lunged from opposite sides, throwing their rotting bodies directly into the path of his descending sword.
SPLAT!
The Void Edge sheared through both bodies, tearing flesh and bone to ribbons. Yet, with a sickening schlick of tearing tissue, the eyeball had already detached itself from the Stalker’s chest. The strange creature shot upward into the air, slick with blood.
Leo raised his head. At the exact same time, the two other static spots within his Void Sense shifted rapidly. The other two eyeball aliens had also abandoned their hosts, floating upward.
All three creatures gathered high above the street, hovering in a tight triangle.
Leo narrowed his eyes. Before becoming a superhuman, he might not have noticed it. But now, he could feel a strange, vibrating frequency pulsing from the three creatures, humming against his eardrums.
His expression turned cold.
Calling for backup, huh?
As if answering his thoughts—
ROOOOAR!
The surrounding zombies snapped their heads toward him. Thousands of undead violently shifted their path, converging on his position in a crushing wave. Within seconds, Leo was trapped. Decaying , rotting bodies blocked the roads, filled the rooftops, and spilled out of nearby buildings in a frenzied scramble.
Leo looked at the encroaching wall of flesh, and then he smiled.
"Do you really think this will stop me?"
"Void Walk."
His figure disappeared just as a dozen claws swiped at where his throat had been. A second later—
"Void Walk."
He materialized dozens of meters away, his boots barely touching a rusted car hood before—
"Void Walk."
Again.
Again.
Again.
The zombies clawed at empty air, tripping over themselves. Leo’s figure became a series of dark flashes across the battlefield, vanishing just as fast as he appeared, leaving only the sharp crack of displaced air in his wake.
Without warning, Leo materialized directly above the three floating eyeballs, casting a shadow over them.
The creatures reacted in a flash. A massive, translucent spherical barrier erupted around them, shimmering with psychic energy, keeping the three aliens safely sealed inside.
Leo swung his sword with both hands.
CLANG!
The katana struck the barrier with the ring of a massive bell, sending a deep, spiderweb crack spreading across its surface. However, the shield held firm. The three aliens stared up at Leo from inside, their massive pupils shrinking in defense.
Leo’s eyes narrowed. "Interesting."
Then—
BAM!
He planted his boot squarely on the curved surface of the barrier. Using it as a springboard, Leo kicked off, launching himself even higher. Wind roared in his ears as his body spun through the apex of his jump. In one fluid, practiced motion, his katana clicked back into its scabbard.
Then he began falling. Headfirst. Straight toward the three aliens.
The massive eyeballs widened in unison.
Leo extended one hand, his fingers spread wide. The moment his palm touched the smooth surface of the barrier—
"Void Devour."
A miniature void tore open at his fingertips.
WHOOOOOOOSH!
The air pressure instantly dropped. The translucent barrier twisted violently out of shape, sucked inward. The dark sphere chewed through the psychic shield with a sound like ripping metal, consuming the energy at a terrifying speed.
In mere seconds, the entire defensive sphere shattered and vanished into the void.
Leo went into freefall right toward the exposed aliens.
The creatures trembled in panic, but they wasted no time. The three eyeballs dilated violently, unleashing their psychic abilities in unison. An unseen mental attack—a concussive wave of pure pressure—slammed directly into Leo’s mind.
...
Nothing happened. Only a faint, irritating buzz echoed in his skull before fading to nothing.
Leo’s eyes remained completely calm.
The aliens froze, their levitation faltering.
Then, dark blue veins bulged dangerously across their massive white sclerae. The veins spread further, thick and pulsing.
One second.
Two seconds.
Then—
POP!
The veins burst under the strain of the psychic blowback. Viscous blue blood sprayed into the air like mist. The three creatures shuddered in shock, entirely defenseless.
Leo smirked. The metallic plates on his Reaper’s Gauntlets snapped open.
SHING!
The hidden blades shot out from his wrists. The pitch-black aura of Void Edge coated both weapons in an instant, drinking in the ambient light. Leo spun into a deadly dive.
SHING!
SHING!
SHING!
A series of dark, razor-sharp flashes crossed the sky. The three aliens went completely rigid.
Then, two of their bodies dissolved into glowing particles of light, scattering into the wind.
*[Ding!]*
Two system cards materialized in the empty air and drifted gently down toward the street.
The third alien wasn’t as lucky.
SPLAT!
The blades met no resistance. Its gelatinous body was sliced into several neat pieces. Heavy chunks of alien flesh and a torrential rain of blue blood crashed wetly onto the pavement below.
Leo landed in a heavy crouch a few seconds later. His chest rose and fell with a sharp intake of breath. He could feel an ache in his core, his Void Energy dropping by a massive chunk after using Void Devour.
That skill consumes too much energy.
Not wanting to waste any more time, Leo walked over to the steaming alien corpse. He pulled a large plastic container from his Pocket Space. After scooping up the gelatinous, blue-stained remains, he securely sealed it and placed the container back inside.
Only then did Leo notice the sudden shift in the atmosphere. The alien’s death should have freed the zombies to rampage wildly. Yet the horde wasn’t attacking him. They weren’t even looking his way.
The zombies simply shuffled past him, brushing against his cloak. Thousands of undead continued marching in the exact same direction, a singular, mindless current of rotting flesh.
Toward the entrance of Rendell City.
Leo stood in silence in the middle of the broken road. His eyes followed the endless tide of monsters kicking up dust in the distance.
The one-eyed aliens were controlling them... But now, another command has taken over.
His eyes narrowed as the pieces fell into place.
Looks like the war has finally commenced.
A cold, eager smile formed on Leo’s face.
Let’s check it out.
"Void Walk."
his figure vanished from the street.
