Aiden cursed inwardly.

He had to use the few Intermediate rank 3 poisons he had left. If they were immune to the beginner rank 3 poisons, there was no way they would be immune to the intermediate rank 3 poisons.

The Intermediate rank 3 poisons he had left however, could not kill them. They were all sense dwarfing poisons.

But they were enough.

As long as their senses were messed with, they’d lose sight of the environment. Aiden would use that to his advantage.

Quickly, the bat shot towards him with its mouth open.

Aiden shifted forward to their side. The creature’s mouth hit the wall. The wall shook.

Aiden flapped his crimson wings and shot forward.

He took out the Intermediate rank 3 sense dwarfing poison.

He threw it backwards.

One of the crimson daggers shot towards it. The crimson dagger crushed through the vial. The gaseous poison leaped through the narrow corridors.

Aiden didn’t look back. He just continued further.

As for his crimson dagger, it returned to him.

Aiden could feel his heart thumping wildly. To say he was not nervous or afraid would be an understatement. The kind of situation he had found himself in would make one afraid. Afraid of death. Aiden didn’t think that made him weak. He was human, and he had emotions. But it also reminded him that he couldn’t lose his cool. Fear would get him killed. He would make wrong judgments. So, he calmed down. Because it was necessary for his survival.

As he kept moving through the narrow corridor, Aiden figured the bats hadn’t caught up. With their speed, they should have caught up by now. The only reason why they probably hadn’t caught up was because the intermediate rank 3 sense dwarfing poison had worked.

"It’s a pity that my enhanced senses are limited in this cave. Now that their senses are dulled, they are open. I could have launched several attacks towards them from my direction into their eyes, killed them and absorbed their blood essence. But I can’t even see, smell or hear far enough to know their current location. Specifically, I can’t see them to know where their eyes are and attack them. As for going back, I can’t. The poisons are still in the corridor. Even as I speak, the gases are most likely headed my direction," Aiden thought as he continued forward.

Suddenly, he squinted his eyes. A few meters ahead, he saw several blood sucking bats.

However, they were legendary rank 2 blood sucking bats.

"These guys can make up for the blood essence I couldn’t get from the beginner rank 3 blood sucking bats," Aiden thought.

With his crimson daggers in hand, he flapped his crimson wings and shot towards them.

The legendary rank 2 bats could smell the blood of the approaching prey. Maddened, voracious expressions appeared in their eyes as they each shot towards him, each one of them wanting to have the prey for themselves.

The first contact produced the sound of flesh being slashed.

Aiden’s crimson daggers moved with elusive, swift, and preternatural swiftness. He himself was elusive and as swift as the wind.

One dagger sliced through head, like butter. Another arced upwards through one bat. It left two halves dripping with blood in its wake, headed towards another.

A bat arced down towards him.

A dagger left his hand. It shot towards the bat. It appeared before the creature in an instant.

Puchi.

It cleaved through its chest, pierced through its heart and appeared at its back, leaving a bloody hole there.

The creature fell.

The dagger arced across, slicing through several bats swarming towards Aiden in a moment.

Dull thuds resounded over and over again.

Each time a bat fell, Aiden would absorb their blood essence. He became stronger, faster and sharper.

With crimson daggers in hand, an extension of himself, he turned into a reaper of death.

Slash, throw, pierce, slice through.

Each movement claimed a life.

The legendary rank 2 bats were terrified. Their primal instincts kicked in.

They turned around to flee.

But Aiden would not permit that to happen. He needed their blood essence. No way he’d pass up such an opportunity.

The crimson daggers transformed into crimson bladed chains.

Aiden held it. Then danced. He swung the chains. The bladed edges arced forward, found their prey and sliced through them. Heads rolled. Limbs flew. Wings tore open. Blood splurged.

Thuds resounded.

Aiden’s crimson armor was covered in a black substance. Must have been the blood of the bats that had splurged on him.

He killed, killed... and killed.

He absorbed their blood essence, each time they fell.

Very soon, the place was completely silent.

All the bats were dead.

All this while, he had been moving forward, crimson bladed chains in hand. He hadn’t forgotten that the gaseous poison has been spreading through the corridor.

Eventually, he arrived at the edge of the route he had been following.

When he looked a few meters ahead of him, he realized that he stood before a pit.

He couldn’t see how far and wide the pit was because of his limited enhanced vision.

But he knew it was anything far from normal.

Most likely, some apex monstrosities were lurking in it.

"What do I do?" Aiden thought. If he tried to cross past the pit, he could die. If he didn’t, the intermediate rank 3 sense dwarfing gaseous poison would eventually spread to his current location. That wouldn’t be good for him.

"I have no choice but to take a risk and fly across this pit," Aiden sighed.

He flapped his crimson wings and flew above the pit.

Suddenly, several tails rose from beneath the pit and shot towards him.

Aiden flapped his wings with all the speed he could muster and shot forward. The tails persisted. They followed behind by a hair’s breadth.

Aiden realised something.

The pit below was the apex predator’s actual territory.

The tails following him, looked like the tail that had yanked him into the cave.

The apex predator most likely had several tails. Whatever monstrosity it was, it was dangerous.

Aiden evaded the attempts of the tail to grab with all the experience and agility he could muster.

Eventually, he crashed at the edge of high, hard ground.

The tails retreated back into the pit. Or rather, Aiden felt heavy vibrations shake the place.

Most likely, the tails had fallen.

"It seems it’s mortally wounded." A glint flashed through his eyes.

He looked a few meters ahead of him.

There was nothing ahead. No openings towards another direction. He was at a dead end.

"I can’t give this creature time to rest and recover a bit. If that happens, it will reach out for me again with its tails and chew me up. I need to kill it," Aiden thought.

He knew what he was about to do was absurd.

Whatever creature was in the pit was most likely a legendary rank 3 chaotic beast.

He didn’t even know how he would pull this off. Yes, it was mortally wounded. But it was still a powerful creature.

But Aiden didn’t have a choice.

It was either he found a way to kill the creature or he’d die here.
