Chapter 445: Chapter 445: Escape
Ved opened his mouth and a cloud of gold dust spread out covering hundreds of thousands of kilometres.
Everybody within the cloud was trapped in an illusion, since he couldn’t put them to sleep he put them in an illusion.
Dream mist and the dream law were more effective when the targets were asleep but casting illusions to awake targets was feasible.
Those strong enough to resist his dream illusion knew better so they did not, even those who didn’t know him well enough opened themselves to him.
The rest were either strong enough to not be a weakness or weak enough to not be able to resist his illusion.
The illusion in question was designed to make them despair, only despair without any hope can deal with hope.
So that what Ved did, he created an illusion designed to make them lose hope in the sovereigns.
To make it believable be mixed the illusion with truth, it continued where they last perceived reality.
The sovereigns were clashing with the heralds but they were losing because of hope.
They all had hope the sovereigns would win but that not only made hope stronger but turned their hope into a weapon.
The herald of hope cast his spell turning their hope against them. In their hopeful dreams the sovereign won.
As the herald of hope acted, the probability of that happening dwindled and the sovereigns started losing.
They grew weaker while their opponents grew stronger. Their abilities became less and less effective.
This made the people terrified that the sovereigns might lose but this terror brought more hope and at the same time, opened a path for the herald of terror.
Its countless eyes glared at them and activated reality shift. The strings of fate changed.
Their terror became a reality and one of the sovereigns, the Nephilim sovereign suddenly paused.
His eyes grew blurry and his breath stopped, a sovereign died without any signs of anything happening.
That’s how strong they’re terror was, however this made them even more terrified and they placed even more hope on the last remaining sovereign.
Elena the remaining sovereign faced all three heralds by herself but as strong as she was, she couldn’t fight all of them by herself.
Suddenly there was a bust of flames in front of them and a phoenix with wings so vast they covered the space in front of them appeared.
Those who knew this phoenix cheered, she was one of the strongest beings under the heavens only below Anglomesh.
Flamel cried, the piercing cry of a phoenix rendered space and time to shreds, her flames burnt everything to shreds.
But instead of attacking the herald she turned towards them with burning eyes yet all could practically feel the coldness beneath them.
" You are all a nuisance, your presence is a threat." This confused them but she explained.
" You’re scared like rats giving power to terror, you place your hopes on us this putting us in danger.
As long as you’re here, we’re bound to lose and perish in this fight, it’s nothing personal but you must all burn."
Before they could protect, a sea of flames engulfed them, they looked at Elena for help but she gave them a cold glance.
It dawned on them, the sovereigns had every intentions of killing them here, despair engulfed them.
Their hopes disappeared in the smoke like in the wind but terror replaced them thus feeding into terror still.
Fortunately, terror was not as terrifying to deal with. As long as their terror doesn’t involve the death of the sovereigns, reality shift would not be a threat to the sovereigns.
However their terror still involved them dying and if the herald used reality shift on them, they would all died without question.
But there was nothing Ved can do about that, he couldn’t imagine an illusion that would remove both hope and terror.
It would have to be one forcing them to accept their fates but that was nearly impossible, nobody wanted to accept death.
Even when they do they still feared it as they did now. If he showed an illusion of..’ Wait.’ Ved’s illusion suddenly changed.
He dug into their memories using the dream law and searched for their most pleasant memories.
Using them he crafted specify illusions as if they were the afterlife, the illusion was meant to bring contentment while removing the need for fear.
’ It’s working.’ most of them accepted this almost instantly, well in the illusion world, years had passed.
They lived happy lives filled with abundance and nothing to wish for, anything they wanted they got removing the need for hope.
The world in that illusion was so perfect the very idea of fear didn’t exist, it was constructed so they would believe it to be real.
And they believe it was also eternal. Ved worked extra for this. Of everybody, he was the only one still conscious if you’re not counting the sovereigns.
Elena looked at him and nodded, Ved nodded his head as well but his eyes were blurry, he was too mentally exhausted.
’ This dream law, I recognise it.’ Elena thought to herself before turning back to her task.
Ved had included Flamel in the illusion because she had really arrived in reality as well.
She faced the herald of Hope and the herald of Nightmares by herself and she was winning, it was obvious she not under strain either.
The Nephilim sovereign faced terror and was holding his own but it was obvious he was the weaker party.
Slowly he was being pushed back, the herald of terror’s power was terrifying, besides shifting reality turning fear into truth.
It could also conjure things of nightmares, monsters that made no sense. There were legends that the void beasts were dreams of terror.
That they were created from the Nameless of Terror’s thought and based on what he was seeing the herald of terror do.
There might be some truth to that, while the monstrously powerful Sovereign were clashing.
A sphere of spacetime solidified around them, Elena had created a separate pocket dimension.
She nodded at the two sovereigns who had protected her while she created this then teleported Ved alongside everybody else.
They appeared above a massive continent similar to Pangera but it was definitely not Pangera.
This was Elena’s own home universe, like Pangera, it had planets and starts above the continent as a sign of having merged with other universes.
Elena placed the thousand of life planets across different solar system, at the perfect distance from the stars to sustain life.
To the denizens of those planets, there was not much of a different from their former situation.
But they were greatly shaken by what had just happened.
