Chapter 100: 100: THE BEST.

That night, Lucas was in his office working. He had planned to stay all night to get some work done.

It was already late when a knock came at the door.

"Come in," he casually said, assuming it was his secretary.

Instead, June peeked into the room.

"Hello!"

Lucas immediately turned around, shocked.

"What are you—"

June smiled as he stepped inside, a takeaway meal in his hand. He walked over and placed it on the table.

"I came to keep you company..."

June smiled as he began unwrapping the food.

"Here. Have this. You’ve been working for hours, so you must be exhausted. Eat something."

He offered Lucas a piece of chicken.

Lucas watched him serve the food.

"You... What are you up to now? You’ve been pretty active pestering me for days."

June smiled sweetly.

"Well, that’s because you’re my favorite, and I want to spend more time with you."

"...."

Lucas’s cold eyes remained fixed on him, carefully studying him.

He wasn’t buying it and June knew it.

June simply smiled.

"Eat first. Then we’ll talk. At least you’ve worked hard. You need to eat something."

He offered Lucas another chicken leg.

June stood there watching as Lucas slowly began eating.

"How is it?" he asked with a smile.

"It’s chicken," Lucas replied firmly, staring at him.

"....."

June smiled awkwardly.

"I see. Let me taste it too and see if it’s worth the money."

He took a bite. Then another, and another.

Before long, Lucas was sitting there watching June finish everything.

"Hmm, that was delicious." June smiled. "Definitely worth the money."

"My money?" Lucas raised an eyebrow.

June blinked.

"Oh, well... I sort of billed it to your name."

"...." Lucas was speechless.

---

Lucas returned to his work while June sat nearby, scrolling through his phone.

For a while, they remained in comfortable silence.

Eventually, Lucas looked up at him.

"You should have gone home while you had the chance. Why stay here?"

"I want to keep you company."

June looked up from his phone.

"You’ve been working for long enough. Shouldn’t you take a break or something?"

Lucas sighed and shook his head.

"You really are persistent."

June smiled.

Silence lingered between them for a while before June finally spoke.

"Don’t you think it’s nice? Spending some time together like this?"

Lucas looked up at him.

June sighed.

"Grey told me everything. I guess you’re just another cold CEO stereotype. Caring about everything but never showing it."

He shook his head.

"I’m not a stereotype, though..." Lucas tried defending himself.

June smiled.

"Anyway, I’m sorry."

Silence settled between them as they stared at each other.

"I know you always act the way you do because you care. I’m sorry if I didn’t understand that earlier."

June lowered his gaze.

"So please... Don’t stop worrying about me, okay?"

Lucas stared at him in surprise. He hadn’t expected this from June. Was this really the same June he’d always known?

He couldn’t help but feel even more confused.

June leaned back in his chair and stared at the ceiling.

"I don’t know about you, but for me, spending time with you has actually been pretty fun. At least pestering you was."

He smiled.

"We should do this more often. Spend time together like this."

Lucas continued staring at him, trying to process what he was hearing.

June had changed and It was obvious.

And Lucas couldn’t help but admit to himself that he liked this version of June better.

"So..." Lucas finally said. "Are you buttering me up or something?"

June smiled. "I wish I were."

He scoffed.

"But sadly, I’m not. It was fun. And you should take care of yourself too. Don’t overwork."

Lucas stared at him silently for a moment.

He then glanced down at the papers scattered across his desk.

"It should be ready before morning."

June looked confused.

"What should?"

Lucas stared at him. "Aren’t you the one who wanted to take down the Faux family?"

"...."

June was speechless.

He couldn’t believe it.

Lucas was actually working to help him?

"You’re... How long have you—"

"You were annoying," Lucas casually interrupted. "So I figured I had to do it to get you off my back and let me work in peace."

June’s eyes immediately lit up.

He sat upright.

"Oh my, I’m so emotional. How... How do I..."

He rushed toward Lucas, attempting to hug him while he was still seated.

Lucas immediately extended both hands to keep him away.

"Stay back. No hugging. Don’t get closer."

But June didn’t listen. He crashed into him, wrapping his arms tightly around Lucas.

"Thank you so much!"

Lucas had no choice.

He simply remained there and allowed June to hug him while June enthusiastically listed all the reasons why he was the best brother ever.

And as Lucas listened, he couldn’t help but smile.

Because the truth was, he’d already started working on helping June from the moment June had told him about the Faux family’s business deal.

He’d only brushed him off so he could prepare everything properly and hand it over as a surprise.

---

Everything was ready.

The next morning, June’s car pulled up directly in front of the Faux family’s residence.

As the window rolled down, June adjusted his glasses and stared at the imposing building.

This was his first time here, and he was curious to see how everything would unfold.

"Wait here," he said to Raymond, who was sitting in the driver’s seat. "I’ll be back as quickly as possible."

Inside the Faux residence, the family was having breakfast in silence, as usual.

The only sound in the room was the occasional clinking of cutlery.

Soon, a butler approached them. "Someone is here to see you."

Mr. Faux looked up, confused.

"And who could that be? I don’t remember expecting any guests."

"Me neither," Mrs. Faux added.

The butler hesitated before speaking.

"Well... It’s Mr. En. Young Master June En. He’s here to see you."

Silence immediately fell across the dining room.

Mr. and Mrs. Faux exchanged a glance. And then their eyes shifted toward Nyx.

Nyx looked equally surprised. He hadn’t expected June to actually come.

And now, he was standing at their entrance.

Mr. Faux turned toward the butler. "Tell him to leave. We’re busy."
