Chapter 105: 105: ROOMMATE.

June casually smiled as he turned back toward the picture sitting on the table. "Cute. Your brother?"

"Eh...?"

Nyx looked confused as his eyes lowered.

June smiled and continued, "The two of you look so cute in your uniforms..."

He gently ran his fingers across the edge of the picture. "I bet he looked even better in real life."

Nyx blinked before slowly responding.

"Oh... yeah."

He understood what June was doing.

June was deliberately ignoring what had just happened with the dagger.

Nyx felt grateful. But at the same time, strangely uneasy.

June continued admiring the room for a while before finally turning back to him. Then, without warning, he gently took Nyx’s hands into his own.

Nyx stared at him in confusion.

June’s gaze lowered toward his wrist, and Nyx’s expression changed slightly.

He was confused for a moment before June finally spoke.

"Anytime you feel scared... anytime you feel down..."

He slowly looked up at Nyx with a gentle smile.

"You can always come to me. Okay?"

Nyx felt something inside him loosen.

June hadn’t explicitly mentioned what he had seen, but somehow, Nyx still understood.

And that was enough.

He felt comforted knowing June wasn’t going to force him to explain himself.

June finally turned away.

"We’ll be late. Let’s go."

And with that, he proceeded to help Nyx finish packing.

---

As soon as Nyx got into the car, June turned around to look at Mr. and Mrs. Faux, who were standing outside the mansion and watching them.

They clearly weren’t happy. But June smiled anyway.

"Thanks for your great cooperation. I wish you both a happy life alone."

With that, he turned and climbed into the car.

Soon, the vehicle drove away, leaving Mr. and Mrs. Faux standing there silently as they watched it disappear.

After a while, Mr. Faux turned and headed back into the mansion.

Mrs. Faux furiously followed behind him.

"What were you thinking?! Why did you let him have his way like that? You can’t just let him take away our only means of gaining more power!"

She was furious.

Mr. Faux tried to remain calm as he walked over and took a seat.

Mrs. Faux immediately stood in front of him.

"Why aren’t you saying anything? Why did you let that little good-for-nothing Guide treat you like that?!"

Mr. Faux looked up at her.

"What did you want me to do? Risk my entire business because of that good-for-nothing son?"

Mrs. Faux sighed in frustration.

"He is important to us now. He has power now. He can—"

"You don’t understand the gravity of the situation!" Mr. Faux interrupted. "I can’t go bankrupt. I can’t lose that deal. Not now."

Mrs. Faux ran a hand through her hair.

"So what do you plan on doing now? You’ve let him get away with this. Are you going to keep allowing that brat to threaten you forever?"

Mr. Faux hesitated briefly before answering.

"It’s only temporary. It’s not like we’ve completely lost our authority over him. He’s still our son at the end of the day, and nothing can change that."

His eyes darkened. "Not even distance."

"But we need him close if we’re going to shape him into what we want. Now that he’s gone, what if that F-Rank Guide starts turning him against us? He’s already doing it."

Mr. Faux remained calm.

"Like I said, it’s only temporary. We’ll get him back."

He paused. "And besides..." He looked toward her.

"We have another way. Mr. Kevin is on our side now. He’ll be of great help to us."

Mrs. Faux’s expression changed.

Mr. Faux continued.

"I can’t afford to be careless. That Guide knows far too much for someone his age. So we’ll have to play according to his rules for now."

A cold smile appeared on his face.

"But soon enough, Mr. Kevin will handle him for us."

Mrs. Faux remained skeptical, though she folded her arms.

"I hope it works out. I can’t continue living like this..."

Despite being wealthy, the Faux family had always existed near the bottom of the power pyramid.

Other wealthy women whose husbands held prestigious positions constantly looked down on Mrs. Faux.

The Faux family had money, but they lacked true authority.

They were simply wealthy people struggling to cling to those above them.

But now, they had finally found an opportunity to change that.

With the growing trend of parents of powerful Espers gaining prominence and influence, they had eagerly decided to take advantage of Nyx’s power.

They intended to rise through him, by any means necessary.

---

The car finally pulled up in front of the academy.

June stepped out alongside Nyx.

Waiting for them outside were Mr. Yen, Mr. Ken, and Simon.

June had contacted Mr. Yen earlier to help secure a dorm room for Nyx, knowing he would be arriving that night.

However, upon arriving, June discovered there was only one available room.

And unfortunately, Nyx would have to share it with Simon.

Silence filled the air.

June stood between Nyx and Simon as the two exchanged cold glares.

"Eh..."

June slowly turned toward Mr. Yen and Mr. Ken.

The two men could only shrug. They had no other option.

June turned back toward Nyx with a smile.

"Well, I hope you have a good time with your new roommate."

Nyx immediately turned toward him.

"Can I share a room with you instead?"

"....."

Everyone went silent.

Simon was the first to speak.

"No, you can’t," he insisted. "The dorms are strictly separated for Guides and Espers."

Nyx turned toward him.

"I didn’t ask for your opinion."

"Well, I’m stating the rules you were too ignorant to observe."

"I don’t care about the rules. I don’t want to stay with you. I want to stay with June."

Everyone silently watched as the two exchanged cold remarks.

June was genuinely surprised.

The original Nyx was someone who rarely spoke boldly like this. He was always calm, quiet, and reserved.

So this new development was certainly something.

But who was June to complain?

At this point, the plot had already fallen apart. Anything was possible.

June smiled and gently held onto Nyx’s hand.

"It’s the only solution for now, so can you please share the room with Simon?"

He smiled sweetly.

"I want you around the academy so we can see each other often. Okay?"

June gave him his best puppy eyes while holding his hand.

Nyx’s heart fluttered. He blinked at June for a moment.

Then, without another thought, he nodded. "Okay."

He turned toward Simon. "For you, I’ll put up with him, no matter how annoying he is.

"...." Simon was speechless.
