[BL] Oops! Guiding The F Class Villain Esper Gone Wrong!
Chapter 107: TEAMMATE RECRUITChapter 107: 107: TEAMMATE RECRUIT
There was silence for a while as June stared at him. He could see how uneasy Ryan had suddenly become.
"Why?"
Ryan hesitated before forcing a smile. "I mean... I don’t think I’m cut out for this. I’m just an F-Rank without any special skills. I won’t be of much importance, so I don’t think I can do it. Find someone better."
Ryan was firm in his decision, and even as June tried convincing him, he remained adamant.
"I’m sorry. I wish I could help, but..." He shook his head. "I’m basically useless, so..."
He smiled before adding, "But don’t worry. I’ll help you find someone who can join the team."
Ryan pulled out his phone before suddenly looking surprised.
"Oh, I forgot. I have to be somewhere..."
He quickly stood up with another smile. "I’m rooting for you, okay? Bye. See you."
As he left, June and Nyx watched him disappear in silence.
June sighed.
"Why do I feel like he’s hiding something?"
Nyx shrugged.
"Maybe..."
June sighed again as he looked down at the book in front of him.
"Should we even look for a partner, or should we just go like this? I don’t think it makes much difference."
Nyx slowly nodded.
"I think so too..."
---
June and Nyx ultimately didn’t bother looking for teammates.
They figured it would be best if they simply went on their own and handled things themselves. Whether they won or failed, it wasn’t worth dragging someone else into their mess.
However, judging from the discussions online, there were actually quite a few people interested in joining June and Nyx’s team.
After the shocking success of the two F-Ranks who had managed to clear an anomaly dungeon together, many students had become curious about them. Some wanted to get closer and learn their tricks, hoping to discover how two supposedly weak F-Ranks had managed to grow so quickly.
The problem was their opponent.
No one in their right mind wanted to go against the Elite 5.
That was practically asking for death.
At the academy cafeteria, June, Nyx, and Ryan sat alone at their usual table while enjoying their meal.
Well... two of them were enjoying their meal.
June was currently staring at his phone instead of eating.
He was still researching strange and unconventional ways to improve their anomaly skills, asking anonymous questions on forums and searching for anything that might give them an advantage. Over the past few days, that was pretty much all he had been doing.
Nyx stared at him quietly.
He picked up a piece of meat from his own plate and placed it on June’s.
"You should eat something..."
June looked down at the meat.
"You too. You can’t keep giving me everything."
"You’ve been working so hard..." Nyx explained softly. "You deserve it..."
"You’ve also been practicing hard lately. You should eat it yourself," June replied.
"...."
Ryan stared at the two of them.
"I mean, if neither of you wants it, I can take the meat."
"No. I’m eating," June immediately said before taking a bite.
Ryan shook his head.
"Lovebirds."
While they continued their meal, murmurs suddenly began spreading throughout the cafeteria.
June turned around to see what was happening and immediately caught sight of Simon and his squad approaching.
Soon, Simon was standing directly in front of their table.
Kael and two others stood behind him.
June stared at Simon.
"What’s this about...?"
Simon cleared his throat before speaking firmly.
"I heard you’re looking for someone to join your team. I’m here. I’ll be a part of the team."
"..."
Murmurs immediately swept through the cafeteria as everyone stared at them in disbelief.
Simon wanted to willingly join June’s team?
Didn’t he know what was involved?!
June stared at him before shaking his head.
"Sorry, but I’m not recruiting any teammates anymore. Nyx and I can do it alone. Thanks for considering it, though."
But Simon clearly wasn’t planning to give up.
"No. I insist."
June raised an eyebrow.
Simon continued, "I know the Elite 5 well enough to know they won’t let the two of you compete alone. Since they’ve already made that post, if you refuse to choose teammates, they’ll randomly select people and force you to compete with them."
June frowned.
"They always do it."
June stared at him.
He hadn’t heard about this part before, but honestly, it didn’t seem far-fetched.
"So..." June leaned back slightly. "You want to join my team? Why?"
"I want to practice my skills through real combat and also experience the legendary Cosmic Dungeon Space."
June stared at him.
He knew Simon was lying.
June sighed.
"I thought you hated me. Why would you suddenly want to be in the same space as me? That makes no sense."
"....."
Simon cleared his throat awkwardly.
"We grew up together. We’re closer than anyone here... so I can’t possibly hate you."
June continued staring at him.
Simon hesitated before adding, "As a matter of fact..."
His gaze shifted toward Nyx.
"Our parents once betrothed us..."
Nyx’s face immediately went pale. Shock and then jealousy.
His fist slowly clenched beneath the table as he stared at Simon, his expression darkening while he bit his lower lip.
"You already refused that idea," June said. "Why bring it up again?"
"I’m considering it now..."
Simon stared directly at June.
"Too late."
Nyx suddenly grabbed June’s hand. "He’s already paired with me."
His eyes clashed directly with Simon’s.
The atmosphere between the two immediately became tense.
June, however, thought about Simon’s offer.
It honestly wasn’t a bad idea.
As a matter of fact, having an S-Rank Esper with experience on their team could be extremely helpful.
"Okay," June finally said. "You can join my team."
"What?" Nyx immediately turned toward him in shock.
June nodded.
"I suppose we might need you around."
Simon smiled faintly.
"That’s good then."
He then turned toward Kael, who was standing behind him.
"And you..."
Kael looked at him.
"Apologize."
Kael stared at Simon in shock. "What?"
Every student watching from around the cafeteria was equally surprised.
Had they heard that correctly?
"I said apologize," Simon repeated. "For what you did to him earlier."
Kael scoffed.
"But why would I...?"
"You either apologize, or I’ll make you pay."
Simon wasn’t smiling.
And judging from his expression, everyone knew he meant every single word.
Kael looked around awkwardly.
All eyes were on him now.
Students whispered among themselves, clearly wondering whether he would actually apologize.
His eyes eventually met Ryan’s, who was sitting nearby and watching him casually.
June was also staring at the scene in surprise.
He definitely hadn’t expected Simon to make such a public demand.
Finally, Kael turned toward June.
"I’m sorry."
"Apologize properly," Simon immediately insisted.
Kael clenched his jaw.
He bit his lower lip before reluctantly speaking again.
"I’m really sorry for what I did. It was nasty and childish of me..."
He finally apologized properly.
June smiled.
"Don’t worry. I forgive children easily."
Kael immediately glared at him. He was clearly not happy at all.
Simon turned back toward June.
"I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive him."
June raised an eyebrow.
Simon continued. "And also...He’ll be joining your team too."
