"What?"

Kael was left speechless.

"Why would I...?"

Simon didn’t even look at him. Instead, he stared directly at June as he spoke.

"It’s his way of atoning for what he did. And besides, with his experience, he could be of help. I can vouch for him, so... please accept him."

He paused before adding, "The more, the merrier."

June said nothing for a moment. He simply stared at Simon before giving a slight nod.

"Okay..."

Nyx immediately turned toward him in surprise.

"You’re going to let him in?"

June nodded.

"It’s okay. We might actually need them around..."

At least they were willing to join, and June couldn’t exactly refuse extra help. The more, the merrier indeed.

"Okay then."

Simon nodded.

"See you around."

With that, he turned and walked away.

Kael reluctantly followed after him, clearly unhappy with the sudden decision. Before leaving, however, his eyes met Ryan’s.

He cast Ryan a cold glare before finally walking off.

And with them gone, the atmosphere immediately fell into another round of murmuring.

While everyone else was in class studying, June had sneaked out to get some cupcakes from the bakery.

June smiled after taking the pack of cupcakes from the lady and making his payment.

Still smiling, he held the pack in one hand while pulling out his phone with the other. As he walked out of the bakery, he quickly typed out a message and sent it to Nyx.

June eventually arrived at the rooftop.

It was the same place where the two of them had spent time together during the welcome party.

He stood there quietly, staring up at the sky with the pack of cupcakes placed beside him.

Soon, footsteps sounded behind him.

"Sorry I’m late. I had to make an excuse that I was having a fever..."

June turned toward Nyx with a smile.

"It’s surprising that the nerd would actually agree to meet me here during class. The Nyx from a while back would definitely give me an entire lecture."

He shook his head with amusement.

"Bad influence, then," Nyx replied.

He walked over and stood beside June before lowering his gaze toward the pack of cupcakes.

"This is...?"

"Cupcakes."

June smiled.

"Tonight feels like a good night to have cupcakes up here while staring at the sky. The moon is full, the stars are out... It’s a good sign for our win tomorrow."

He grinned.

"Let’s celebrate in advance."

Nyx looked up at the sky as well.

"I guess..."

For a moment, there was silence.

Then June spoke again.

"I also figured you were upset about earlier, so I’m making it up to you by buying you cupcakes."

He smiled at Nyx.

"Me? I wasn’t upset... I can’t be upset with you..."

But June simply smiled.

"Silly."

He turned back toward the sky.

"You were probably upset because I let Simon and Kael join the team without asking for your opinion first. I know you don’t like them..."

"....."

Nyx remained quiet.

"It’s for us," June continued. "They have experience and abilities that we might actually need. So I figured it’d be better to bring them along."

He shrugged.

"It’s not like we have to become best friends. Let’s just treat it as business."

Nyx slowly nodded.

"I understand."

He looked at June.

"You don’t have to explain. I’ll always understand you..."

June smiled.

He playfully ran his fingers through Nyx’s hair.

"That’s my golden boy." He smiled. " Cute."

As June continued playing with his hair, Nyx simply stared at him.

He admired June’s smile and soon found himself smiling as well.

The two stood there together, smiling at each other beneath the night sky.

"Cute."

June grinned.

"You should smile more..."

And for the first time, Nyx didn’t immediately stop smiling.

He held onto that smile as he continued staring at June.

June was happy to see it.

But more than anything, he was happy because he could feel Nyx’s energy becoming increasingly stable.

He figured getting Nyx away from that hellish environment had truly been worth it.

"Have some cupcakes."

June picked one up and held it toward Nyx.

"It’s best when it’s fresh."

Nyx opened his mouth and ate directly from June’s hand.

He slowly ate it while June held the cupcake for him.

"How does it taste?" June asked.

"Delicious."

Nyx nodded with a smile.

"Great. Have more."

June pointed toward the remaining cupcakes.

"Feed me."

June stared at him.

Nyx leaned closer.

His face moved forward slightly as he parted his lips, silently waiting for June to feed him.

June blinked.

His heart suddenly fluttered at the sight.

He quickly tried to calm himself down and hide the warmth creeping onto his face.

"Oh... You can..."

"No."

Nyx insisted.

"I want you to feed me."

June blinked again.

Why the hell was this kid making his heart flutter?!

He shook his head.

"Okay, sure. No problem. As long as you’re happy."

He picked up another cupcake and began feeding him.

Nyx smiled as he happily ate from June’s hand.

And when he finished the second cupcake, little crumbs of icing remained around his lips.

Nyx slowly licked the crumbs away.

His tongue briefly moved across his lips as he cleaned the icing away.

June’s eyes immediately became glued to his mouth.

His heart nearly exploded.

The sight of Nyx licking his lips—the movement of his tongue, the completely innocent yet strangely sensual sight—made June’s heart flutter so wildly that he couldn’t help but panic.

What’s wrong with me?!

June couldn’t help asking himself as he continued staring at Nyx.

And as though that wasn’t already bad enough, June’s lips betrayed his brain as he found himself utter.

"Do you want to kiss?"
