Nyx stiffened, biting his lower lip as he stared at June. His face went pale as he wondered if he had heard things right or...

"What...?"

June blinked. He had already said the words, so taking them back was no longer an option. Besides, it wasn’t outside his intentions for tonight. In fact, it was one of the reasons he had called Nyx out.

"Well..." He cleared his throat, running a hand over the back of his neck as he said, "I’ve been considering Ryan and your words recently, and I think we should actually... do it."

Nyx’s brain had gone numb. His cheeks flushed as his brain cells sparked into emergency mode. He wasn’t hearing things. June had actually asked for a kiss, and he wasn’t joking!

It wasn’t a drill!

"You mean... you want to kiss me...?" Nyx ran a hand over his lips, licking his lower lip.

June smiled as he stared at him. "Kissing boosts your energy, so I think we should practice and make the best use of it." He continued, "The competition is tomorrow, and we’ve been trying out different methods, so I figured... we could try this method."

"The kissing method...?" Nyx swallowed, his Adam’s apple bobbing.

June nodded, his gaze shifting between Nyx’s eyes and lips. June didn’t know whether he wanted those lips or simply wanted to practice...

"Yes. We could try different styles and see which one triggers the powers. And maybe... we can even kiss for different durations and periods to see which works best. We don’t have much time left, so... we have to practice..."

June meant practice. He had thought about it for a while and figured that since he couldn’t find another way besides kissing, they should perfect it in ways that could maximize their skills.

But right now, he felt like a pervert asking for a damn kiss!

And Nyx didn’t seem to mind.

Nyx was speechless as he stared at him with his mouth halfway open. Never in his wildest dreams would he have imagined June asking him for a kiss...

"It’s okay if you don’t want to. I mean, I won’t force you..." June tried brushing it off, but Nyx instantly grabbed him by the hand.

"..." June stared speechlessly as Nyx pulled him closer and wrapped an arm around his waist.

Their faces were close, their breaths brushing against each other. June’s eyes were fixed on Nyx’s face while Nyx’s gaze lingered on his lips.

"I’m ready..." Nyx said in a low whisper. "We can practice for as long as you want..."

June’s heart skipped. His cheeks burned in that moment. Was this kid taking advantage of him, or was it the other way around?!

Either way, they were already here, so there was no backing out.

As though his hands had suddenly developed a mind of their own, June gently placed one around Nyx’s neck, resting it behind his head as he pulled him closer for a kiss.

Their lips met, soft and tender, gently pressing against each other as they both closed their eyes and breathed softly.

Their lips moved in a gentle rhythm as Nyx breathed between kisses. "Like this...?" His lips pressed against June’s lower lip.

June gasped softly as he wrapped his other hand over Nyx’s shoulder, pulling him closer as he let his mouth sink deeper into Nyx’s.

Nyx’s hand tightened around June’s waist, holding him firmly as their breaths gradually grew more intense and rapid.

Then they pulled back, their breathing heavier as they stared into each other’s eyes.

"Did it work...?" Nyx asked, swallowing.

June looked around. He forced his mind away from the pleasure of the kiss and tried studying Nyx’s energy and its reaction to it.

"Something’s happening..." he said in a low, husky voice. "I can feel... it..."

Nyx leaned closer. "Maybe I’m not putting in enough effort... Why don’t you teach me how to make it work better?"

June stared at him.

Suddenly, he didn’t feel like he was the one in control anymore. This kid was literally taking advantage of him!

"Open your mouth..." June said in a low tone, his eyes lingering on Nyx’s lips.

Nyx slowly nodded as he opened his mouth and leaned closer. "Is this enough...?"

June nodded as he dug a hand into his hair and swept his mouth against Nyx’s. The heat between them closed in, their movements growing more heated as June deepened the kiss.

Their breaths grew heavier as Nyx pulled closer, responding to June with equal intensity. For several moments, neither of them seemed willing to pull away, completely caught up in the overwhelming sensation.

After a while, June slowly pulled back, leaving Nyx swallowing as though he still wanted more.

"What...?" Nyx stared at him. "Am I not... doing it right...?"

June had to think professionally! He wasn’t kissing just for the sake of kissing!

He had to get that through his brain.

And so, he ran a hand over Nyx’s chest, gently feeling the energy circulating beneath and studying its pattern. "How do you feel...?"

Nyx hesitated. He could feel something burning through his chest.

"I feel... hot inside... Like the flames..."

June stared up at him. "Can you hold a kiss for two minutes...?"

Nyx nodded without question. "I can hold longer..." He swallowed as June pulled him closer by the collar until they were almost touching lips.

"We’ll try something else..." June said.

"What...?"

"Kiss like your life depends on it. As intensely as possible. With fury... as though you’re kissing an enemy..." June said.

Nyx blinked. "Oh... I..."

Before he could finish speaking, June pressed forward for another kiss.

This one was different.

More intense.

Their movements were hurried and heated as Nyx’s hands wrapped firmly around June’s waist while June’s arms remained around his neck. The two staggered slightly, completely losing themselves in the intensity of the moment.

The kiss became so overwhelming that they nearly lost their balance.

June staggered and almost slipped, but Nyx quickly grabbed him by the waist and held him firmly. The two stared at each other for a moment before suddenly bursting into laughter at how intense that had been.

Neither of them could help finding it rather embarrassing.

"How do you feel...?" June stared at him.

Nyx ran a hand over his chest. "Well... not too strong...?"

June slowly nodded. He had pretty much figured out what worked for the flames and how the kissing affected the way they were triggered.

June nodded before saying, "Nyx..."

"Huh?"

"Can you pretend to like me? Like, now..."
