Nyx stiffened, staring at him. His heart fluttered at the words as he said, "Pretend...?"

"..." Nyx was speechless as he stared at him.

He could practically feel his heart shatter into a thousand pieces at the thought of June kissing other people.

June didn’t know whether to smile or what. Nyx was jealous, and he wasn’t even trying to hide it. June didn’t know how he was supposed to respond to that.

June was panicking. He struggled to piece his brain cells together while staring at him.

Ryan stared at the cupcakes before looking back at the two of them. June’s forced smile was certainly suspicious, but he brushed it off as he said, "Whatever. Class is over, and I’ve been looking for you. I have something important to talk to you about."

June stared at him. "Oh, me? Really? Okay..." He turned to Nyx with a smile. "See you around then. Enjoy the cakes. See you tomorrow... Sleep well and... have lots of sweets. Bye."

Nyx remained standing there, watching as June left with Ryan. Soon, the two of them disappeared from sight.

"What’s wrong?" June asked as the two of them arrived at their dorm room. Finn wasn’t around.

"Well..." Ryan sighed, running a hand through his hair as he sat down on June’s bed. "I hope you’re not mad at me..."

June stared at him. "Mad at you? And why would I be, though...?"

Ryan stared down at his fingers as he spoke. "You know... because I didn’t join your team and all..."

June smiled. "And why would I be? You have your reasons. Maybe it’s something you can’t tell me, and I totally respect that... so don’t feel bad."

Ryan forced a smile. "Do you mean it? Because I’ve been feeling kind of guilty since I turned you down..."

June nodded with a smile. "I noticed. And yeah, I mean it..."
