Chapter 120: 120: TEACH Y’ALL A LESSON

Nyx dived from the eagle, stretching out his staff as he charged straight toward the snake.

The five heads of the snake opened their enormous mouths, purple venom spilling from between their fangs. But Nyx’s eyes instantly turned yellow.

Nyx waved his staff through the air, summoning the streams of venom together before exploding them into tiny purple sparkles. Then he swung his staff straight at the snake’s heads one after another.

He struck all five without missing a single one, sending the massive creature somersaulting through the air before it crashed backward. But Nyx didn’t stop.

He dived straight after it.

Purple glitter spread through the air around June and the others as they watched from the eagle.

"I guess my energy reading was accurate..." June blinked.

"The F-rank Esper is back..." Ryan nodded.

Nyx’s staff burst into golden flames as he struck the snake again in midair, sending it flying once more before landing on one of its heads.

Immediately, the head he had stepped on exploded into purple dust.

The monster cried out in pain and fury, but it didn’t stop. The remaining heads charged toward Nyx.

Nyx held his staff firmly and briefly closed his eyes. By the time he opened them again, his golden eyes were blazing, and golden flames burned across his body and staff.

He swung the staff at the snake again.

Another head exploded into purple dust.

Nyx didn’t stop. He spun his staff and threw it toward the monster, flames exploding from it and consuming the snake.

The three remaining heads shrieked in pain as they pulled backward, but Nyx wasn’t letting them escape. He turned his staff like a propeller, spinning it continuously as flames surged from it.

The flames dragged the snake inward.

No matter how the monster shrieked or struggled to escape, the spinning flames continued pulling it in until they swallowed the creature whole, burning it into ashes.

When the last of the monster disappeared into Nyx’s blazing attack, he finally stopped.

Holding his staff firmly, Nyx slowly looked up toward the Elite 5.

They stared back in utter disbelief.

Nyx raised his other hand, and all the purple energy stones scattered around the area began rising into the air. They gathered together, merging into a single unit until they formed a beautiful, glowing purple gem.

He held it firmly while casting his golden eyes toward the Elite 5.

The five of them couldn’t say anything.

From the moment the fight began, they had watched in disbelief, wondering if they were seeing things. The monster that had been somewhat difficult for them to take down had been easily roasted by Nyx as though it were nothing.

An F-rank had taken it down.

Now they could only stare at him in disbelief as fury slowly built within them.

June and the others descended from the eagle and came to stand beside Nyx.

"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" June immediately asked.

But Nyx smiled as he looked down at June, holding out the glowing gem.

"I’m fine. Here. It’s all yours."

June stared at it. "For me?" He smiled. "And what exactly am I supposed to do with this...?"

"Take it," Nyx insisted.

Ryan shook his head, folding his arms with a smile. "So lovey-dovey even in the face of death... Cute."

"Cute my foot." Kael rolled his eyes, folding his arms.

"I’m not the one who made myself unlikeable," Ryan snapped back.

Their attention soon shifted toward the Elite 5, who stood at a distance glaring at them with malicious expressions.

June smiled. "Oh, hello there. I actually thought you would have made some progress, but I guess we’re all struggling together here in this zone. So much for being S-rank Espers."

Jason clenched his fist. "We’re not on the same level. And we’ll never be. You’re F-rank trash, while we’re S-ranks. There’s a clear difference."

June smiled. "Well, I don’t see that S-rank badge helping you cross this zone."

"...."

Evelyn rolled her eyes. "So annoying. Just because your friend defeated some little monster, you’re all getting so proud, huh?"

June nodded. "Well, yes. Unlike some cowards who couldn’t take it down and pushed it toward us, I guess we should be proud of that."

"And who says we couldn’t take it down?" Luther asked furiously.

"Well, I said that. What?" June smiled.

"A lot of talk. It won’t help anything." Rayder stepped forward. "It was only luck. Some silly luck that your F-rank trash friend was able to take down a little monster. Nothing worth celebrating over."

"Sure," June said casually. "Well, I guess luck was never on your side then. And apparently, it never will be."

Rayder cracked his neck. "The little Guide talks so cute. I guess we’ll have to tame you all a little so you can remember who the boss is. Why don’t we show you some S-rank power? Maybe then you’ll be reminded how useless you are... like back then during practice."

June clenched his fist, glaring at the smug smile on Rayder’s face.

Recalling what they had done to Nyx back then only reminded him how badly he wanted to beat the living hell out of every single one of them.

Jason cracked his fingers as he stepped forward, his expression turning cold.

"You three should get going," he said to Luther, Karen, and Evelyn. "Go and find that core. We’ll stay here and teach these trashy F-rankers some manners for free."

Karen smiled as he adjusted his glasses. "Remember to go easy on them. We wouldn’t want anyone losing their powers again during our fight..." he teased.

With that, he turned alongside the other two and began walking away.

As they moved, Luther slammed his fist against a nearby pillar.

The impact erupted into a mild quake, tearing down rocks and ancient pillars. The path behind them quickly became blocked beneath the rubble, making sure no one would easily follow after them.

Now Jason and Rayder turned their attention back to June and the others.

Rayder smiled.

"Don’t worry. We won’t hurt you too much like last time..." His eyes swept across all of them. "We’ll make sure each of you receives the most appropriate lesson you deserve."

He smiled wider. "Equally."
