[BL] Oops! Guiding The F Class Villain Esper Gone Wrong!
Chapter 23: ANOMALY DUNGEONChapter 23: 23: ANOMALY DUNGEON
At the Red Dust Government Organization headquarters, the atmosphere was bustling with controlled chaos.
The organization was home to registered working-class Espers and Guides who served directly under the government. Like every major organization, they were responsible for clearing dungeons and harvesting the gems hidden within them, but unlike private guilds, they operated under government sponsorship.
Red Dust was one of the nation’s top organizations, boasting some of the strongest and most dependable Espers and Guides in the country. Their teams were known for completing missions efficiently, making them one of the government’s most trusted forces.
At the moment, however, the headquarters was in complete disarray.
Staff members hurried through the halls in their signature red uniforms, carrying stacks of files and research reports from one department to another. Others remained glued to their computers, fingers flying across keyboards without once taking their eyes off the screens.
Meeting rooms were filled with tense discussions as research teams debated possible solutions, while analysts buried themselves beneath mountains of documents, desperately searching for answers.
Amid the busy scene, Grey En calmly walked through the offices in his neatly pressed crimson uniform, the Red Dust insignia pinned proudly to his chest. His expression remained cold and composed as he adjusted the cuff of one sleeve.
Several staff members followed closely behind him, reporting the latest developments.
"The anomaly dungeon has appeared again..."
"This time, it manifested inside a distorted dimensional space, but our transportation team has managed to establish a temporary gateway into it."
"The assault team is already assembled and waiting for you at the departure center. The portal will be ready to open shortly."
As they spoke, they handed him several pieces of equipment, which Grey casually slipped into the emergency pouches at his waist.
Once he finished adjusting his uniform, he gave a slight nod. "I’ll head out."
Before leaving, his eyes shifted toward another group of researchers working tirelessly at their computers.
"Were you able to uncover anything new about the anomaly dungeon?"
One of the researchers shook his head with frustration.
"It’s unlike anything we’ve encountered before. Every attempt to analyze or study it fails. It’s almost as if the dungeon itself is actively preventing us from gathering information."
He sighed."But we’re still trying."
Grey nodded thoughtfully before looking toward the exit. "Keep investigating while I’m inside."
He secured another communication chip to his belt.
"Hopefully we can find something that’ll make the Director happy."
The researchers nodded immediately. "We’ll do our best."
With nothing more to say, Grey walked through the doors leading toward the departure center, while the staff remained behind, silently watching him leave.
Like many organizations across the country, Red Dust had devoted enormous resources to researching the mysterious anomaly dungeons that had begun appearing without warning.
Ordinary dungeons had long since become predictable. Their structures, monster behavior, and clearing methods had been studied thoroughly enough that experienced teams could complete them with relative efficiency.
Anomaly dungeons were different. Their layouts constantly changed. Their patterns couldn’t be predicted.
Even gathering information from them proved almost impossible, as though the dungeons themselves rejected observation and analysis.
Even so, organizations and research institutes across the nation continued searching for answers.
Whoever unraveled the mystery first would undoubtedly earn tremendous prestige.
---
June and Nyx watched in complete disbelief.
The giant cat wandered gracefully from chip to chip, happily picking them up with its mouth before crunching them down.
For a while, neither of them moved. They simply sat there, silently watching the enormous beast finish every last crumb.
Once the final chip was gone, the cat slowly raised its head and looked back at them.
"..."
Nyx blinked.
June swallowed.
"...I think it likes my snacks."
Nyx slowly nodded. "I think so too."
The cat began walking toward them again slowly.
Both of them instinctively shuffled backward.
"I’ll distract it with more chips," June whispered. "You figure out some way to deal with the big guy. We have to get out of this place somehow."
Nyx gave a small nod.
June quickly reached into his backpack and pulled out another bag of chips.
The cat’s crimson eyes immediately locked onto it.
"...You want this, huh?"
June slowly got to his feet and began circling around the beast.
The cat calmly turned with him, its eyes never leaving the bag in his hand.
"So you really do..."
June smiled before opening the bag. He began dropping chips one at a time as he walked.
The cat obediently followed behind, stopping every few steps to eat each chip from the ground before continuing after him.
June kept leading it around the clearing, finishing one bag before pulling out another and continuing the trail.
Meanwhile, Nyx quietly retrieved his staff before searching through his backpack once more.
After a brief search, he found a compact Electrifier—a support tool designed to temporarily stun and weaken monsters with a burst of electricity.
"This should work..."
He tightened his grip on it while glancing toward June.
June was still successfully leading the cat around with his endless trail of chips.
Taking advantage of the distraction, Nyx carefully crept up behind the beast.
"Oh..."
June looked inside the bag.
His smile disappeared.
"...That was my last one."
He stared at the empty packet in disbelief.
"Why didn’t I pack more? This is exactly why chips should be considered an essential survival item." He sighed dramatically. "They literally save lives."
With no more chips left to drop, June stopped walking.
The cat stopped too.
After licking up the last chip from the ground, it slowly lifted its head and looked directly at him.
June looked back.
"...Well..."
He forced an awkward smile.
"How about this? If you let us live today, I’ll buy you even more next time."
The cat remained completely unimpressed.
At that exact moment, Nyx slammed the Electrifier against the cat’s backside with a sharp zap!
Blue sparks crackled violently across its fur.
The giant beast let out a furious roar before spinning around.
Nyx stood frozen beneath its enormous shadow, the Electrifier still crackling in his hand.
Blinking behind his glasses, he looked up at the glaring cat.
"...I guess that didn’t work for you."
