Chapter 33: 33: PREPARATIONS.

June En lay on his bed on the evening of the event. Still dressed in his pajamas, he sprawled across the mattress with his arms spread wide, staring blankly at the ceiling.

Raymond stood nearby, trying his best to convince him to get up and prepare for the celebration.

"Are you really not going to attend the event?" he asked.

June quietly shook his head. "No. I’m not in the mood." He sighed. The novel had already won by forcing him into the academy. He couldn’t let the author and the plot score another victory.

Raymond blinked as he looked around the room. "But Mr. and Mrs. En are already dressed and preparing to leave. They’re probably waiting for you."

"Tell them I’m sick," June replied, closing his eyes and folding his arms across his chest.

Raymond hesitated. "But... this event is for you. You’re the guest of honor. The main attraction of the entire celebration can’t just... not show up."

June slowly opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling again, completely conflicted.

As much as he didn’t want to attend because it might drag him even deeper into the plot, another part of him desperately wanted to experience an elite banquet for once—as the star of the event.

He could already picture all the luxurious gifts. The extravagant decorations. The ridiculously expensive food.

Things he’d only ever seen in dramas, novels, and magazines.

But then again, after surviving an anomaly dungeon, attending a gathering filled with powerful figures would probably pull him even further into the story.

He was completely torn.

Raymond sighed as he folded his arms.

"It’s a real shame Young Master won’t be attending..." he muttered. "I heard they’re preparing a twelve-tier dessert buffet imported from six different countries. I’ve always wanted to see something like that."

June’s eyes flew open. He immediately sat upright on the bed.

"What flavors?"

Raymond paused, startled by the sudden change in attitude.

"Gold-leaf macarons. A strawberry mousse fountain. Handmade chocolate sculptures... and plenty more."

June bit his lower lip.

He had only ever heard about desserts like those in television shows and novels. To him, they were practically mythical treasures.

"I guess they really spared no expense for this party..." he murmured before jumping to his feet. "Get my best clothes ready."

Raymond stared at him in disbelief. " So... you’ve changed your mind?"

June looked at him with complete seriousness. "It’d be a terrible waste to abandon food that expensive."

As far as June was concerned, he was only attending to eat.

Avoiding the plot somehow would simply become tomorrow’s problem.

Raymond’s face immediately lit up. "What outfit should I prepare?"

June thought for a moment.

"Since I’m mainly going there to eat... just pick something that looks nice."

"Oh... anything then." Raymond nodded thoughtfully. "Although, since several high-end magazines will be covering the event, I’d better prepare something worthy."

"Wait..." June stared at him. "High-end magazines?"

Raymond nodded.

"Of course. Top magazines from around the world will be attending. There’ll also be influential families, nobles, government officials, and plenty of important guests."

June gasped dramatically.

"I think I’ve been underestimating just how rich my family actually is."

He turned back toward Raymond with newfound determination.

"Don’t bring me just anything. Bring me the absolute best designer outfit available. I refuse to let anyone outshine the star of the show." He nodded firmly before adding, "Pictures from tonight are definitely ending up online. Even if people post them just to insult me, I still have to look amazing."

---

Within minutes, June’s bedroom no longer resembled a bedroom.

It had transformed into a luxury fashion showroom.

Designer outfits hung from polished clothing racks stretching from one side of the room to the other, each outfit somehow looking even more expensive than the last. Clothes were draped over velvet couches, jewelry glittered beneath crystal chandeliers, and polished leather shoes stood in perfect rows like soldiers awaiting inspection.

Servants lined both sides of the room. Some held suits. Others carried accessories. Several held expensive perfume bottles.

One unfortunate servant had somehow been assigned the extremely important responsibility of holding a silver tray displaying six different luxury pocket watches.

Another stood nearby holding nothing but gloves.

Every one of them waited patiently for their turn.

Raymond stood proudly before them like a military commander inspecting his troops.

Even June was stunned.

He hadn’t expected preparing for a single event to require this level of extravagance.

He really had underestimated just how wealthy this body’s family was.

Back in his previous life, living like this had been nothing more than a distant dream.

Now it was unfolding right in front of him.

June folded his arms with a satisfied smile.

"Alright," he declared. "Let’s get to work."

Outfit after outfit was brought before him as he patiently tried each one on.

Time passed quickly. Soon he stood before the mirror wearing an elegant emerald-green suit with a princely design.

"It looks gorgeous on you!" one servant exclaimed. "You look like a real prince!"

June stroked his chin while studying his reflection.

"...No."

Everyone froze.

"I look like a walking avocado."

He sighed dramatically.." like some sort of fruit"

The servants exchanged helpless glances.

Next came a dazzling crimson outfit.

"This one is incredible!" another servant said excitedly. "You’ll definitely be the center of attention!"

"Everyone’s eyes will be on you!"

June tilted his head. "...Why do I look like a bottle of ketchup?"

Silence immediately filled the room.

Then came a royal purple outfit.

"This is perfect!" another servant praised. "It looks so noble!"

"The best one so far!"

June sighed again. "I look like grape juice."

The room fell silent once more.

Raymond finally rubbed his forehead.

"Young Master... are you perhaps craving fruit tonight?"

They changed him into a sapphire-blue outfit next.

"This one actually looks really good," a servant commented.

June admired himself briefly before shaking his head.

"It doesn’t complement my eyelashes."

Next came an elegant black suit embroidered with intricate golden patterns.

Every servant nodded enthusiastically.

"Perfect!"

"It makes you look powerful!"

"You look absolutely commanding!"

Even Raymond agreed.

"Yes. This is excellent."

June stared at the mirror before sighing.

"I wonder whose funeral I’m attending dressed like this."

Nobody dared respond.

Finally, they brought out an outfit woven almost entirely in shimmering shades of gold.

From the tailored princely jacket to the matching trousers, every detail highlighted his golden hair and fair complexion beautifully.

Everyone immediately agreed it suited him perfectly. This time, however, they were too afraid to compliment him first.

June quietly studied himself in the mirror.

"Hmm..."

Raymond quickly seized the opportunity.

"It’s perfect, Young Master."

"Really?" June tilted his head thoughtfully.

"...Then why do I feel like I look like an Oscar trophy?"

Silence swallowed the room once again.

Raymond seriously considered pulling his hair out.
