[BL] Oops! Guiding The F Class Villain Esper Gone Wrong!
Chapter 40: A DANCEChapter 40: 40: A DANCE
People nearby had gradually turned their attention toward the scene. It hadn’t attracted the entire ballroom yet, but it had certainly caught the interest of everyone in the surrounding area.
They were all surprised.
Young Master June, the same person who had spent years being publicly obsessed with Young Master Simon, had just rejected him for a dance... and chosen someone else instead.
Even Simon stood there in stunned silence, unable to process what had just happened.
Nyx, on the other hand, stared at June with shock written all over his face. For a moment, he honestly wondered if he had misheard him.
"The music’s already started." June smiled as he linked his arm through Nyx’s. "So, if you’ll excuse us, we have a romantic dance to catch up on."
Without giving anyone a chance to stop him, June pulled Nyx toward the dance floor, where elegant couples were already swaying gently to the soft melody of the piano.
As the two walked away, Simon remained rooted to the spot while the nearby guests quietly began whispering among themselves, trying to figure out what they had just witnessed.
Even Mr. and Mrs. En had turned their attention toward the dance floor to watch their son, while both of June’s brothers had also noticed the unexpected pair.
---
June and Nyx soon found an empty spot among the other dancers. Standing opposite one another beneath the warm lights of the ballroom, they simply stared at each other while the gentle piano continued to fill the room.
June looked up at Nyx while Nyx looked down at him.
He’s probably watching, June thought. We should start dancing so Simon knows I meant what I said. It’d be embarrassing if we just stood here.
"Huh?" Nyx asked.
Instead of answering, June wrapped both arms around Nyx’s waist and pulled him closer.
"There." June nodded proudly before beginning to sway Nyx awkwardly from left to right. "Now... move around."
Nyx blinked in confusion as he obediently stumbled along.
"What... exactly are you doing?"
"Dancing." June answered confidently while continuing to drag him around. "We have to look like the perfect couple tonight so Simon can eat his words."
Nyx stared at him for a long moment before speaking. "...You call this dancing?"
June blinked. "What else would it be?"
Nyx answered with a perfectly straight face.
"It looks like you’re dragging a corpse around while performing some kind of ritual."
June immediately stopped moving. "...Oh."
The two silently looked at each other.
"...You can’t dance?" Nyx finally asked.
"I can..." June scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "It’s just... I haven’t danced in so long that I forgot how."
The truth was much simpler. He had absolutely no idea how to dance at elegant ballroom parties.
The only dancing he knew involved memorizing endless K-pop choreographies alone in his bedroom after work.
Nyx slowly nodded in understanding. "Oh..."
After a brief pause, he spoke again. "Then I’ll teach you."
June’s eyes lit up. "Perfect! Let’s start right away. We have to make everyone jealous."
Nyx gave a small nod. "Alright."
He slowly extended one hand toward June.
"Hold my hand."
June immediately grabbed Nyx’s right hand with both of his.
Nyx blinked.
"No... just one hand."
"Oh." June quickly let go and awkwardly switched to holding it properly.
"Now place your other hand on my shoulder."
June nodded obediently and rested his free hand on Nyx’s shoulder.
"Like this?"
"Mmm."
June sighed dramatically.
"This is way easier than studying at the academy. What do you think? Why don’t we quit school and enroll in a dance academy instead?"
Nyx answered him with a completely serious look.
"..."
June immediately surrendered.
"Fine. Dance first. What’s next?"
Without another word, Nyx intertwined their fingers before placing his free hand firmly around June’s waist and gently pulling him closer.
June suddenly felt as though the gods of every BL novel had slowed time itself.
Their bodies naturally closed the remaining distance.
Their eyes met.
Nyx’s hand rested securely around his waist.
Those hands definitely don’t belong to a cute little puppy...
June found himself staring directly into Nyx’s face.
This was easily the closest he had ever been to him. Up close, Nyx was even more breathtaking than he remembered.
His golden eyes, his perfectly shaped features. Those lips... June realized he had forgotten to breathe.
"...You’re really handsome." The words slipped out before his brain had a chance to stop them.
Nyx blinked.
"Hm? What did you say?"
June immediately snapped back to reality. "Nothing..."
He smiled awkwardly while leaning back just a little.
"Let’s dance."
The piano melody continued drifting through the ballroom as Nyx patiently guided him through the steps, one movement at a time.
"Left... right... left..."
Holding June securely around the waist, he carefully led him through each motion.
Unfortunately, June had absolutely no sense of rhythm.
Every few seconds—
"Sorry!"
"Ah... sorry!"
Then again,
"Damn... sorry."
He kept stepping on Nyx’s feet, apologizing after every mistake.
Nyx, however, never once lost his patience.
Calmly, he continued teaching him, gently correcting every misstep without showing the slightest sign of frustration.
After watching June struggle for several minutes, Nyx finally came up with another idea.
"Let’s try this instead."
June looked up. "What?"
"Stand on my feet."
June blinked. "Your feet? Are you sure you’ll survive?"
Nyx looked at him with complete seriousness.
"You’re not a pig, are you?"
June narrowed his eyes. "Shut up. I only ate a few cupcakes."
He looked down before carefully placing both feet on top of Nyx’s.
"...You okay?"
Nyx nodded. "Now just follow me."
He gently squeezed June’s hand.
"And look into my eyes."
June did exactly that.
Those golden eyes... for some reason, they suddenly seemed far more captivating than before.
"Just follow my steps."
Nyx slowly began moving, guiding both of them across the dance floor.
"Left... right... left... right..."
Every step was smooth, elegant, and perfectly timed.
This time, June didn’t make a single mistake.
After almost a full minute, his eyes lit up with excitement.
"Whoa!"
He looked down at their synchronized feet with an enormous grin.
"Who knew dancing could actually be this fun? We should definitely do this more often."
He couldn’t stop smiling as he celebrated his tiny victory.
Meanwhile, Nyx wasn’t watching their feet at all. His gaze remained fixed on June’s face.
Watching him smile made the corners of Nyx’s own lips twitch upward.
Then, almost unconsciously, his eyes drifted lower... They settled on June’s lips.
The memory of their kiss surfaced once again. Nyx swallowed quietly.
