Chapter 66: 66: NOT SAFE.

June was trapped within the dragon’s massive tail, struggling desperately to free himself, but the creature held him far too tightly.

The pressure was beginning to hurt, and no matter how much he twisted and pulled, the dragon refused to loosen its grip.

"Let go, you big—ah! Let go!" June struggled as the dragon continued flying through the air, sending him spinning wildly along with its movements. "Drop me, you big ugly thing!"

Before the dragon could fly any farther, a blazing ball of fire suddenly crashed into its side with a powerful explosion. Nyx slammed into the dragon and sent its enormous body tumbling backward through the air.

The impact forced the dragon to release June, leaving him to plummet freely toward the ground.

"Ah!"

June screamed as the freezing air rushed past him, but before he could fall very far, Nyx caught him and gradually slowed their descent. He carried June safely down until their feet finally reached the snowy ground.

June instinctively wrapped his arms around Nyx’s neck while Nyx held him securely. After landing, Nyx continued holding him without saying anything.

"Thanks..." June blinked as he stared into Nyx’s eyes, watching the golden glow slowly fade until they returned to their normal color.

Several seconds passed, yet Nyx still hadn’t put him down.

"Well, I’m already on the ground now. You can let me go."

"No," Nyx replied.

"Why?"

"It’s not safe."

"..."

June didn’t know how to respond to that.

"Flirt later! Be careful!" Ryan shouted from a distance.

June immediately looked up and saw the dragon diving toward them again.

"Watch out!"

Before June could say anything else, Nyx casually raised one hand.

His eyes immediately began glowing golden again as flames erupted from his body and rose into the atmosphere. The golden fire surged toward the approaching dragon, engulfing it and forcing its own blue flames back against its body.

The dragon released a pained roar as it twisted violently through the sky, desperately trying to escape the burning flames.

Ryan and the others stared in awe as Nyx effortlessly controlled the situation.

"I guess he’s prepared," Ryan muttered.

June, still comfortably held in Nyx’s arms, looked up at him.

"So... can I come down now?"

Nyx shook his head.

"It’s safer here... in my arms."

His eyes remained golden as he said it, and June couldn’t stop his heart from fluttering.

Was he imagining it, or did Nyx somehow look even more attractive with those golden eyes?

And those lines...

June had seen them countless times in manhwas and novels, yet somehow they still worked on him.

The dragon soon returned, charging toward them with renewed anger.

Nyx didn’t even flinch.

He simply stood there with June in his arms, raising one hand and sending another wave of golden flames toward the creature. The fire engulfed the dragon again, burning across its body as the creature desperately struggled against the flames.

Throughout it all, Nyx never looked away from June.

He continued fighting while holding him securely, as though he was afraid June might disappear the moment he stopped watching him.

June didn’t know how to feel about it anymore.

He was starting to feel awkward.

"I almost feel bad for the dragon," Ryan muttered, folding his arms as they watched.

The cycle seemed endless. Every time the dragon recovered and charged toward them with another attack, Nyx casually raised a hand and sent it spiraling through a storm of golden flames.

Ryan shook his head.

"It’s still persistent. At this rate, it’ll turn into roasted meat before long."

The dragon continued attacking despite being repeatedly burned, until it suddenly stopped.

Instead of charging toward them again, it flew higher into the sky and began moving in a large circle.

"What’s it doing now?" Ryan asked.

Mr. Ken stared upward.

"Getting serious."

The sky gradually darkened into a deep blue as the dragon continued circling, almost as though it were chasing its own tail. The atmosphere seemed to twist around it, and a strange pressure began building overhead.

Everyone watched cautiously as the storm intensified.

Soon, pale blue snow began falling from the sky, and the temperature dropped rapidly once again.

"You’ve got to be kidding me..." Ryan muttered, hugging himself as he shivered.

Nyx finally lowered his gaze toward June.

"Stay here."

He carefully placed June back onto the ground.

"Don’t move. I’ll be back in a jiffy."

Before June could respond, Nyx turned toward the sky and immediately flew upward.

June stood there watching him disappear into the storm. Ryan and the others soon hurried over and gathered beside him.

"Are you okay?" Ryan asked, checking June’s arms and body for injuries.

"I’m fine," June assured him casually while keeping his eyes fixed on the sky.

"What did he say before he left?" Ryan asked.

"That he’d be back in a jiffy."

They all looked upward.

Nyx had already reached the dragon.

He grabbed its enormous tail with both hands and firmly held on, disrupting the creature’s attempt to continue its attack. Then, with surprising strength, Nyx began swinging the dragon around in a wide circle.

From the ground, they watched in disbelief as Nyx remained suspended in the air, spinning the enormous dragon around himself like a rope.

Blue and golden flames collided around them, bursting through the sky as sparks of energy scattered in every direction.

Nyx gradually increased his speed, sending the dragon spinning faster and faster until the creature could no longer maintain its balance.

Once he had completely disoriented it, Nyx released the dragon and sent it flying into the distance.

Before the creature could recover, Nyx launched a concentrated ball of golden flames after it.

The attack struck the dragon directly in the chest.

A massive explosion erupted across the sky, sending blue and golden flames scattering through the atmosphere.

June and the others immediately covered their eyes against the intense light and energy radiating from the explosion.

When the light finally faded, they slowly lowered their hands.

The dragon was gone.

Instead, countless particles drifted through the sky, along with blue-and-white mana gems scattered throughout the atmosphere. Most of them floated toward Nyx, who absorbed them as they approached.

June’s eyes immediately fixed on Nyx, who was still floating high above them.

Then he felt something.

June suddenly pressed a hand against his chest as a sharp pain tore through him.

"What’s wrong?" Ryan asked, immediately noticing his expression.

June didn’t answer.

His eyes remained fixed on Nyx.

High above them, Nyx had also placed one hand over his chest while the other reached toward his head. His expression twisted as though he were struggling against an immense wave of pain.

"Nyx..." June whispered, his voice filled with sudden fear.

He stared up at the figure in the sky. "Nyx is in danger..."
