Chapter 70: 70: CRUMBLING

The space June found himself in slowly began melting into dust as he caught sight of Nyx floating in the distance.

"Nyx!" he called out, instantly reaching for him.

He floated toward Nyx, grabbed him by the hand, and pulled him closer to his side.

The space shattered, and June opened his eyes to find himself back in the air where he had been before, still holding Nyx in a firm embrace.

The two of them floated in the air, surrounded by golden flames and drifting dust as they held onto each other.

But Nyx was calm, almost unconscious, as he leaned against June’s shoulder and remained firm in his embrace.

June looked around in confusion. "We’re back..." he muttered before looking down at Nyx. "Are you okay?"

"Mmmmm..." Nyx groaned as the flames surrounding them slowly began dispersing, the golden fire flowing back into his body.

As the flames disappeared, the two of them gradually began descending toward the ground.

Ryan and the others quickly approached them as they landed. Nyx struggled to stand firmly, forcing June to hold onto his hand and support him.

"Careful..." June said.

Nyx slowly opened his eyes and looked around. His gaze eventually fell on June, where it remained as he stared softly at him.

"Are you okay?" June asked again.

"Mmm." Nyx managed a weak nod.

"What the hell was happening up there?" Ryan asked, clearly worried. "It was like the flames swallowed you two or something."

June looked at him before brushing the concern aside with a small smile. "Nothing much. We got pulled into some strange space or something, but I was able to bring him back, so it’s okay."

Mr. Ken stared at the two of them. "Are you both okay?"

They nodded.

Mr. Ken sighed as he looked at Nyx. "I doubt he’s okay. He took down that monster, and considering he’s an F-Rank, he must be extremely exhausted by now. He needs to get checked out."

"Certainly, but first..." Ryan said as he looked around the frosty atmosphere. "Do you have any idea how we get out of an anomaly dungeon?"

Mr. Ken glanced around them. "It should begin collapsing anytime soon."

Ryan’s expression changed immediately. "Huh? Collapsing? Isn’t it supposed to be different?"

Mr. Ken shrugged. "Well, we never really know how an anomaly dungeon chooses to collapse until it actually happens."

Almost immediately after he said that, a sharp crack echoed from beneath them.

They all fell silent and looked across the snowy ground, trying to understand what was happening.

"Did I just hear a crack?" Ryan asked, adjusting his glasses.

"I think I heard it too," June agreed as they turned around for a better look.

Another crack suddenly echoed through the dungeon. The snowy ground began splitting apart, forming several widening rifts as blue, explosive dust spilled into the atmosphere.

"Just as I thought..." Mr. Ken said as he turned toward them. "We need to find a way out right now."

"Certainly." Ryan looked around anxiously. "If it follows the pattern of a normal dungeon, then maybe we should see an exit? Like a portal or something?"

They searched their surroundings, but nothing was in sight. The cracks continued spreading closer to them, and there was no door or obvious route through which they could escape.

"I don’t think it’s following that pattern at all." Ryan bit his lower lip before looking around frantically. "I think our only choice now is to run!"

A crack suddenly burst open close to them, and the explosive energy began creeping toward their position. They instantly took off, dragging themselves through the snow as they ran for their lives.

Ryan had June hold onto Nyx as they hurried across the snowy ground, struggling to avoid the unpredictable rifts appearing beneath their feet while also dodging the blue explosions erupting around them.

The three of them were eventually caught in an explosion, sending them flying in different directions.

Having crashed into the snow, June immediately struggled to his feet and looked around, searching for Nyx and Ryan. He soon spotted them lying some distance away, both struggling to sit up.

The air itself seemed to crack as harsh frost filled the atmosphere, biting into their bodies while the snowy wind howled violently across the dungeon.

The wind was strong enough to knock them off their feet if they failed to hold their ground. June knew they had to escape this crumbling space as quickly as possible if they wanted to survive.

"Think..." June shook his head and closed his eyes. "If I’m able to guide someone who triggers an anomaly dungeon, I should at least be able to see through this damn dungeon..."

He forced himself to think as he stared through the chaotic atmosphere. The wind howled around him, carrying freezing frost through the space while the ground continued cracking and releasing blue explosions.

June struggled to calm his noisy mind and concentrate. He needed the same calm mind he had developed while working at the comic company, the one that had allowed him to work through hundreds of tasks without losing his patience.

He needed that calm and composed mind that had allowed him to endure his boss without snapping, the same mind that had helped him work efficiently enough to earn multiple promotions.

He summoned that state of mind as he stared through the scene, studying the atmosphere amidst the chaos and searching for some kind of pattern.

June had read enough guideverse novels to know that there should at least be some kind of exit portal or route. He didn’t know whether the same rule applied to an anomaly dungeon, but he had no other choice except to try.

And as he stared through the chaotic scene, he finally caught sight of something.

A blue portal glowed faintly in the distance, almost completely concealed amidst the chaos of the crumbling dungeon.

The moment June spotted the exit, a smile spread across his face.

"Finally..."
