Chapter 71: 71: WORK HARDER.

The atmosphere at the academy had finally calmed. With the anomaly dungeon portal now closed, everyone stood in silence, staring into the distance where the portal had once been.

The students remained at their seats, whispering among themselves as they speculated about who the dungeon had swallowed.

"That’s a real dungeon... an anomaly dungeon. And it swallowed them. Do you think they’ll make it?"

Another student shook their head. "I don’t know at this point. The chances are incredibly slim. They’re certainly not powerful enough to survive an anomaly dungeon. My dad told me how dangerous they are!"

"That’s true."

"So does that mean... even Simon is gone?"

"And June too...?"

"An S-rank like Simon would have a hard time surviving something like that, let alone an F-rank like June. I don’t mean to be negative, but he’s definitely gone."

Shivers ran down their spines as they continued staring at the empty space where the portal had disappeared.

The authorities remained gathered together, discussing the terrible situation before them.

Some of their students and one of their deans were missing. It was an emergency that demanded immediate action, so they had already dispatched several men to contact the higher authorities for assistance.

And soon, they arrived.

Mr. Kevin Dan and his men entered the academy grounds.

As soon as they appeared, the atmosphere grew quiet once more, and everyone’s attention turned toward them.

Mr. Kevin walked in wearing a black suit, his men following closely behind in similar suits and sunglasses. Their appearance immediately identified them as members of the government organization.

Mr. Gregory, the Chancellor, and the other authorities descended from the elevated platform to greet them.

Mr. Gregory exchanged a handshake with Kevin.

"Thanks for coming."

"No problem at all." Kevin cleared his throat as he looked around. "For a situation like this, we certainly have to be here to restore order. So, where is it?"

Mr. Gregory turned and pointed toward the spot where the portal had appeared.

"Over there. The portal appeared out of nowhere and swallowed some of our students... and a dean."

The other four deans stood behind the Chancellor, listening closely. Mr. Ethan and Mr. Yen exchanged a glance before immediately looking back at Kevin.

Kevin’s attention shifted toward the scene. He signaled to his men, and they immediately moved toward the area where the portal had appeared.

They pulled out their equipment and began examining the surroundings, scanning the area carefully in search of anything that might provide a clue.

"Those two F-rankers were consumed by it as well, right?" Kevin asked, turning toward the Chancellor.

The Chancellor nodded. "Yes. It happened immediately after their compatibility test."

Kevin fell silent as he watched his men continue their investigation. After a moment, he muttered under his breath, "Just as I thought..."

He cleared his throat and turned back toward the authorities.

"Don’t worry. We’ll see what we can find."

He gave them a reassuring smile.

While the search continued, another car pulled up.

Syll stepped out of the luxurious white car, adjusting his designer white suit as he closed the door behind him. His silver hair gleamed under the light as he straightened his clothes.

Grey En also stepped out, dressed in his new attire, followed by the remaining members of their squad—two male Espers and two female Guides.

They made their way toward the scene, where Kevin and his men were already investigating.

As they approached, everyone’s attention turned toward them once again.

The silver-haired Esper standing behind Syll gave a slight scoff.

"Well, I guess we’re late. Some people actually beat us here, as expected."

One of the female Guides smiled.

"As expected. The government is always at it."

They walked into the scene until they reached Kevin and the academy authorities.

Syll stopped close to Kevin, and their eyes met.

For a moment, neither of them said anything. They simply stared at each other, tension slowly spreading through the atmosphere.

Then Kevin smiled.

"I never thought you’d pay a visit to the same place as well. I guess the Red Dust Organization is really working hard. That’s quite commendable."

Syll said nothing.

He simply stood there with an unreadable expression, staring at Kevin as though he hadn’t heard a word he said.

Grey glanced at Syll, then at Kevin. He couldn’t understand what was wrong with Syll or why he wasn’t responding.

So he stepped forward with a smile.

"As expected. If we don’t work hard, how are we supposed to get something to eat, right?"

Kevin looked at Grey with a smile.

"Sure. I guess that’s the case."

He turned his attention back to Syll.

"Well, maybe next time you could try coming a little earlier. Perhaps then it’ll actually be worth coming at all."

Syll’s expression remained cold and unreadable.

"I’ll try," he replied casually, without a hint of emotion.

Kevin smiled and extended a hand toward him.

"Cheers to the hard work, I guess..."

But Syll didn’t take it.

He simply stood there, staring directly into Kevin’s face, completely ignoring the extended hand.

Grey quickly stepped in and took Kevin’s hand instead.

"Sure. We’ll work harder."

As Kevin shook Grey’s hand, his eyes remained fixed on Syll.

"You should smile more. It’ll make business bloom better."

The two men continued staring at each other, their cold gazes locked as an awkward tension lingered between them.

Then, suddenly, they heard a strange sound.

Everyone immediately turned toward it.

Kevin’s men instantly stepped away from the area they had been investigating.

A blue portal, shaped like a doorway, was rapidly forming in the air. Powerful winds erupted from it, blowing everything nearby backward.

Everyone hurriedly stepped away as they stared at the developing portal.

It continued expanding, emitting brilliant blue rays that illuminated the surroundings.

Then the portal suddenly gleamed.

Something was coming through.

Six figures were violently thrown out of it, crashing hard onto the ground one after another.

The portal immediately snapped shut and vanished into thin air.
