Chapter 72: 72: LET’S PLAY.

"Quickly, to the portal!" Mr. Kevin instructed his men to investigate the area and see if they could retrieve anything from it—any substance or residue that might be useful for their studies.

But before they could get any closer, the portal vanished into thin air.

All that remained were the five people who had fallen out of the dungeon, alive and safe.

Silence lingered in the atmosphere as everyone turned to watch them struggle to their feet.

Simon was the first to rise, immediately helping Finn up. Once Finn was standing, Simon moved toward June to help him, but June was already on his feet and struggling to help Nyx up.

Nyx was weak and exhausted. His face was pale, and his lips were dry and cracked, making him look like someone on the verge of death. It was obvious that he needed immediate medical attention.

Mr. Ethan and Mr. Yen instantly left the Chancellor’s side and rushed over to help Mr. Ken, whom Ryan was struggling to support.

The two of them helped him stand, with Mr. Ethan holding him on the right and Mr. Yen supporting him on the left.

"Are you okay?" Mr. Yen asked, running a hand across his forehead. "Your energy feels unstable."

"I’m okay... I’m fine." Mr. Ken shook his head.

"Are you sure about that?" Mr. Ethan stared at him. "You don’t look so—"

"I’ll be fine. I just need some rest." Mr. Ken assured him before looking up into the distance.

The Dean of Esper Studies, Mr. Drax, stood close to the Chancellor with his arms folded, silently observing the scene.

June held onto Nyx firmly.

"Hold on. I’ll get you to the best hospital possible and have you checked out, okay? Just hold on."

He looked up.

Everyone’s eyes were fixed on them, their faces filled with shock and confusion.

The students couldn’t believe their eyes. They were utterly stunned to see the six of them survive the anomaly dungeon once again—and this time, right before their eyes.

"Did they just...?"

"Again...?"

"Maybe... they didn’t fake the first one."

"But how is that even possible...?"

Disbelief spread through the crowd, including the authorities and the external organizations that had come to assist.

No one could understand how these people had survived an anomaly dungeon and emerged alive, especially without looking like they had barely escaped death.

Grey walked toward them and stopped beside June.

"Are you okay? Did you break your hands? Your legs? Did you lose your vision or anything?"

June shook his head.

"I’m fine. Completely fine. But he’s not." He glanced at Nyx, panic creeping into his voice. "We need to get him to the hospital fast."

But Mr. Kevin walked toward them, his chin raised confidently.

"Greetings again."

June stared at him, his expression immediately souring.

He couldn’t help but recall everything that had happened inside the dungeon, especially the memories of Nyx that he had seen.

His hatred for this man only grew stronger.

June rolled his eyes and completely ignored the greeting.

"I see the two of you were affected by the dungeon," Mr. Kevin said. "Why don’t you let your brother here take you to get yourself checked while you leave your friend with us?"

June stared at him, momentarily speechless.

"What?"

Mr. Kevin smiled and repeated himself.

"Your friend is badly hurt. He needs specialized treatment, which we can provide. So hand him over, and we’ll take good care of him."

June scoffed.

"And why the hell would I do that?"

"...."

An awkward silence filled the area as everyone stared at each other, muttering in disbelief.

They couldn’t believe June had actually said that.

Mr. Kevin raised an eyebrow.

"You have to because we know better than an F-ranker like you how to handle a situation like this. You should simply step aside and let us handle it."

June could see right through him.

Mr. Kevin would take any opportunity to get Nyx into his damn laboratory, and June would never allow that to happen.

"You know what? Maybe you should take your jobless ass somewhere else and flaunt your authority, because I’m not handing him over to you. He’s coming with me, and that’s final. Okay?"

"...."

The atmosphere filled with shocked mutters.

Even Grey stared at June, silently urging him to shut up.

But June couldn’t hide his annoyance. He had at least tried to smile while speaking, but his words were the complete opposite of friendly.

"Do you know who you’re talking to, kiddo?" Mr. Kevin asked.

"An F-ranker like you? What do you even know?" one of his men snapped. "Hand him over right now. We don’t have time to play with you."

"Firstly, I don’t care to know who I’m talking to. That doesn’t add any money to my account. Secondly, if you want to lay a finger on him, you’ll have to get past me first."

June’s words carried such confidence that they instantly irritated Mr. Kevin.

Though he maintained a smile, it was obvious he was furious.

"I’ll give you ten seconds to rethink your statement and hand him over... unless I—"

"Three, two, one..." June raised an eyebrow. "Ten seconds are up. So, can I leave now?"

"...."

Grey stared at his brother.

"What’s gotten into you?"

June said nothing. His eyes remained fixed on Mr. Kevin, whose expression had darkened.

June couldn’t help it. He detested that man’s face and couldn’t resist spitting his annoyance at him through words.

But he had another reason for acting this boldly.

The system notification he had received earlier about his new power had given him some confidence.

At least he had some backup. Otherwise, he would have played this much safer.

Mr. Kevin scoffed and turned away.

"Well then... I guess some people really need to understand their place in the ranking system. Being an F-rank doesn’t mean you’re worth anything."

He cleared his throat and glanced at his men.

It was a signal.

Immediately, his men surrounded June and Nyx, positioning themselves from every direction, ready to capture them.

June looked around with a smile before turning back toward Mr. Kevin.

"This is academy property. Do we really want to do this?"

"I’m an authority. I can do whatever I want, kiddo." Mr. Kevin replied with a confident smirk.

June smiled back, raising his chin with a sigh.

"Okay." His eyes sharpened. " Then let’s play."
