Chapter 80: 80: REWARD AS PROMISED.

Back at the academy, June was late on his first day back in class.

As he stepped into the classroom in the middle of the lesson, everyone went quiet and turned to stare at him. June’s eyes scanned the room before finally landing on the professor, whose expression clearly showed that he wasn’t pleased to see him.

Mr. Watt.

June was sure the man hated him and his guts for reasons he still couldn’t understand.

June forced a smile and waved.

"Sorry I’m late... I overslept."

Mr. Watt glanced at his watch.

"It’s afternoon. 1 p.m. Classes started early this morning," he stated coldly.

"..."

June blinked. Well... he had actually been intentionally late.

He hadn’t even bothered getting up when Ryan had dragged him out of bed earlier.

"I have a cold. I can’t make it," he had lied, trying to save himself.

In reality, he simply hadn’t wanted to go to class.

"I’m too old for school," he had insisted to himself.

His decision to help Nyx hadn’t stopped him from relaxing and letting his lazy side run wild at the academy.

"Oh..." June nodded with a smile. "I guess I overslept a little too much. I’ll wake up earlier next time."

"There won’t be a next time."

Mr. Watt’s expression remained cold as he packed his books.

"And you should remember your rank. Miraculously playing tricks to enter some fancy dungeons doesn’t give you any advantage. At the end of the day, you’re still just an F-Rank who can easily be dropped."

He adjusted his glasses. "So bear that in mind."

With that, he walked out of the classroom.

---

The next class was Dungeon Combat Practice, where students put the theoretical lessons they had learned about dungeon combat into practice.

Dressed in combat attire corresponding to their rank colors, they practiced with their staffs inside the large hall, which resembled a basketball court. Students were paired up, each practicing against one another.

Ryan and June had been paired together.

While Ryan moved his staff up and down through the exercises, June stretched and warmed up, his eyes wandering around the hall as he searched for Nyx.

It was a combined class, yet he hadn’t seen him all day.

"What are you doing now?" Ryan asked. "The instructor will kick you out if you don’t start working."

"I know, I know. I’m just looking for Nyx. I haven’t seen him at school today."

June glanced at Ryan. "Have you?"

Ryan shook his head.

"No. He’s probably enjoying himself at home. But instead of worrying about that, you should be more worried about yourself. You missed half the school day, so you missed a lot of tea too."

June stared at him.

"Tea? What happened? Did someone confess to me?"

"You wish."

Ryan rolled his eyes and adjusted his glasses.

"Some seniors came looking for you instead. And trust me, they didn’t look happy at all."

June raised an eyebrow.

"Huh? Why are they looking for me? Do I know them?"

"Probably not. But they’re called the Elite 5 of the Academy."

The name immediately rang a bell. June knew them.

As Ryan explained who they were, everything began to make sense.

He remembered these characters from the comic. They had been mentioned several times as people who opposed the protagonist after he rose to fame for his power and became closely associated with Simon.

The Elite Five were the academy’s five most popular and powerful students. They were all final-year students from wealthy government families.

Four were S-Class male Espers, while the fifth was an S-Class female Esper.

They were practically the perfect clique of elites.

They also worked for Mr. Kevin’s Esper and Guide organization, giving them even more influence within the academy. They dominated the school with their invisible authority.

No one dared to cross them. No one even wanted to get close to them. Nobody wanted their attention.

Everyone feared them.

Typical cliché, June thought.

"...They came looking for you," Ryan finally concluded.

June raised an eyebrow.

"And why the hell would they look for me?"

Though, June could easily guess the reason.

After news of him entering and exiting an anomaly dungeon without a problem went viral, it wasn’t surprising that they would be interested in finding out who this supposedly useless F-Rank was.

The F-Rank loser who had suddenly started making waves.

"I’ll give you some advice as your best friend," Ryan said. "Dig a hole underground and never let them find you. Or maybe walk around school wearing a giant teddy bear costume so they won’t recognize you."

He paused.

"And if they find you, just play dead."

"..."

June blinked.

"I won’t hide my beauty from the world. If they want to see me so badly, they can come."

He shrugged.

Ryan shook his head.

"This lad has no idea what he’s getting himself into."

"Hey! You two!"

Their instructor called from across the hall.

Ryan immediately turned and pretended to practice as though he’d been working hard the entire time.

June looked toward the instructor.

"Hey, you! The Principal summoned you. Go now and meet him."

June raised an eyebrow.

"The Principal? He summoned me?" He wondered what it was this time.

---

June soon arrived at the Principal’s office.

He stood before the middle-aged, silver-haired man with glasses, watching him go through the files on his desk for several minutes before he finally spoke.

"Nyx isn’t around, so I’ll pass the information to you instead."

He looked up at June.

"We promised a reward to the highest-ranking compatibility pair. It would be rather rude of us not to keep that promise, don’t you think?"

June smiled.

"If it’s a year-long trip to Hawaii or something, then please keep it."

Mr. Bradford forced a smile.

"It’s something better. The Cosmic Dungeon Space is an exquisite space reserved exclusively for third-year students."

He smiled at June.

"It’s an honor for a first-year student to even see it, let alone enter it. Being granted access is a blessing beyond any ordinary reward."

June immediately disliked the direction this conversation was taking.

But Mr. Bradford continued.

"And being allowed to compete against your third-year seniors within this space is an even greater honor for a first-year student."

He smiled.

"So I would say it’s more than an honor for you and Nyx to compete in the Cosmic Dungeon Space alongside your dear final-year seniors."

He paused. " The Elite 5."
