Chapter 95: 95: A PROMISE TO KEEP.

Even June was surprised. Judging from the psychopath’s personality, he was sure Rayder never stopped until he had completely crushed his opponent.

But Rayder merely smiled at him.

"This is only the tip of the iceberg. The main competition won’t be this merciful, so... work harder if you don’t want to embarrass yourself, little cute guide."

He winked at June before glaring down at Nyx.

"And you... you’re already hopeless. A dead weight like you shouldn’t even exist in this space. What a waste of an admission." It was clear that Rayder hated Nyx. "I might as well just kill you on the day of the competition."

With that, Rayder turned and walked off the stage as mocking laughter filled the arena.

Ryan rushed onto the stage and knelt beside them as they held onto Nyx. June, meanwhile, kept his furious gaze fixed on Rayder and his squad.

He was beyond furious. His fists clenched as he recalled Rayder’s last words. Talking down to him was something he could overlook as childish provocation, but talking down to Nyx was a completely different matter.

June burned with rage as he stared at those spoiled rich brats who trampled over people simply for their own entertainment. He hated their guts.

He wanted to do something. He wanted to destroy them right there.

But he held himself back. It wouldn’t be satisfying.

There would be enough people watching the competition to witness their humiliation. He wouldn’t deny them that audience.

June hadn’t had any grand plans for the competition. In fact, he’d even been looking for ways to escape it if possible.

Ryan and June rushed Nyx to the academy’s nurse’s office.

Nyx lay unconscious on the bed while Ryan and June sat nearby, watching the female nurse apply the necessary medication. Mr. Yen and Mr. Ken stood nearby with their arms folded, watching as well.

"Tsk, tsk. Those rich kids are something else. You should stay away from their territory for sure. They’re monsters." Mr. Yen shook his head while staring at Nyx.

"Like they want to get close to them in the first place?" Mr. Ken questioned, glaring at him. "The real question should be why the school refuses to hold those monsters accountable."

Mr. Yen stared at him. "You know I didn’t mean it that way..."

"Whatever." Mr. Ken rolled his eyes and looked away.

Mr. Yen scratched his head. "You misunderstood me again..."

Mr. Ken turned his attention to June and Ryan. "Are you two okay?"

Ryan and June nodded.

"Mmm."

Mr. Ken sighed in relief. "That’s good."

The nurse finished applying the medication and left the room. Mr. Ken glanced at Nyx before speaking again.

"The competition... why don’t you find a way to back out? An excuse or something? Your family background is strong, so I’m sure you can find one."

June sighed as he stared at Nyx.

"A few hours ago, I would’ve considered it. But now..." His eyes hardened. "I actually want to see this through to the end."

Mr. Ken and Ryan stared at him in surprise.

"But those S-Class monsters are unpredictable. They’re vicious, and they’ll do worse things on that day." Mr. Ken tried to talk him out of it, clearly worried.

But June replied firmly, "Nyx’s F-Class powers are unpredictable too. You should know that from the dungeon. And if he can destroy two anomaly dungeon monsters... then who are those S-Class trash?"

The room fell dead silent.

Mr. Yen slowly nodded. "The kid has a point..."

Mr. Ken immediately shot him a cold glare.

"I’m just worried..." Mr. Ken sighed. He was thinking about the original plan of the school authorities and Mr. Kevin. "Can’t you reconsider?"

June stared at him with a smile.

"I know you’re worried about me. But trust me, I know what I’m doing. I want to destroy their ego. Shatter it enough that those bastards never look down on people the way they do again. I want to put them in their place."

Silence followed and then Ryan slowly nodded.

"I understand..." He smiled at June. "I support you. If you’re confident, that is."

June smiled and nodded.

Mr. Ken hesitated before finally nodding as well.

"Okay, then. Have fun and do what you do best. I have your back. I support whatever this is called." He smiled.

Mr. Yen stared at him suspiciously.

"Huh? What do you mean by ’you have his back’?" His expression changed. "Don’t tell me..."

He was afraid Mr. Ken was actually talking about going against the school authorities.

Which, in fact, he was.

Mr. Ken glared at him. "And how’s that any of your business?"

"Your business is my business. You can’t be that reckless." Mr. Yen insisted, clearly worried.

Ryan and June sat there, watching the two men go back and forth.

Soon, a voice came from the bed.

"Mr. Yen, Mr. Ken... are you two perhaps dating or something?"

Everyone immediately turned toward Nyx, who was already awake and staring at them.

"No." Mr. Ken snapped defensively.

"Oh, you’re awake..." Mr. Yen smiled.

Nyx nodded as he tried to sit up, but they immediately insisted that he lie back down and get some rest.

"We’ll leave you guys to enjoy your talk," Mr. Yen said.

Afterward, Mr. Yen and Mr. Ken left the room, still bickering over Mr. Ken’s decisions.

Soon, Ryan also stood.

"I have some assignments to catch up on."

"Or some manhwa Chapters to catch up with?" June asked.

"You know me well." Ryan smiled and winked before walking off, leaving the two of them alone.

With everyone gone, Nyx and June were left alone in the room.

Nyx slowly managed to sit up in bed while June sat beside him, staring at his bruised face.
