Blood Queen Reborn

Right at the mountainside, Del and a few other students were discussing what to do. They were the ones with higher leveled abilities, mostly consisting of level 6s and 5s. This had included Vorden who, despite being new to the class, was invited over to this group.

"Maybe we should head back to where we came from?" A student asked.

Although Del didn’t want to admit it, there was a bit of an issue with this problem. When he was running for his life earlier, he didn’t think to mark where it was he went. At the time, there were bigger priorities to be had, like surviving the immediate threat for one.

With a bit of a tense silence from Del, Vorden glared at him, "Don’t tell me you lost where we came from!"

"As if you were paying attention to that yourself," Del retorted.

Vorden wanted to argue otherwise, but he did expect Del to keep track of where they went, which was why he didn’t do it himself.

"So much for expecting the adults to be responsible," Raten chided.

"What if we follow the trail of broken bushes and branches?" Another student suggested, "Maybe we can find our way back that way?"

Del shook his head, "That won’t work. There are bound to be several beasts around that travel through the jungle. If we tried following our trail, we might end up on another’s, and end up in a beast’s nest."

"We should stay put for the time being. If we keep moving, then we might encounter another powerful beast, or come across the advanced tier one if we go back," Vorden suggested, "And what about that button you pressed to send a signal to the Sergeants?"

Del glared at Vorden like as if he insulted his intelligence. It was an obvious solution he had completely forgotten about, but he didn’t want to admit it. Doing so would make it obvious that he was a bad teacher, and he couldn’t have that.

"... So I’m right, aren’t I?" Vorden remarked.

Suddenly, Del’s face contorted into that of boiling rage just moments away from bursting, and he pointed at Vorden accusingly, "Well if you’re so smart, then how about you lead the class? And if anything bad happens to the class, then you’ll just have to take full responsibility of your actions. If someone dies on your watch, then you try explaining it to that kid’s family. How about that?"

That had gotten Vorden to shut up, and the other students around him glanced at each other nervously. They weren’t sure if they could speak up, but one student was brave enough to do so.

"Yeah, why don’t you use the signal to the other Sergeants?"

"If I could’ve done that by now, then I would’ve," Del shot back, "Did you forget? We aren’t the only classes on this planet. The Sergeants are bound to be busy with them."

Although it was a guess on his part, and he didn’t even know if it was true, he was technically right. Faye was busy helping the other classes right about now, and Leo was in the middle of a search for Peter and Cia.

"Well, you suggest something!" A different student shouted, getting frustrated with their teacher’s actions.

"I think we should go up one of the side paths of the mountain," Del said, "If we go up high then we can see the jungle from above. We should be able to see where the area we started from was, and if we can’t see that, we will definitely be able to spot the shelter."

Vorden grumbled disapprovingly, but didn’t voice his full concerns out. While it was smart to go up higher to find out where they are, going into the unknown where they didn’t know if there were strong beasts was a massive risk. Not only that, but climbing the mountain was a difficult task that not everyone was capable of doing, and wouldn’t give them the wide open advantage from the base of the mountain.

It wasn’t like they could just ignore Del though, as he was a higher rank than them, and they might get graded badly if they went against his commands. He informed the other students to tell the others of his plan. It didn’t take long before the class began picking up their supplies to head up.

"Why are we moving?" Cia said as she was sitting down next to Peter, "If you’re lost, you’re meant to stay put. That way the Sergeants can find us better!"

"Maybe they’re trying to find others like we did?" Peter questioned.

"But that’s different, we were just two people, they got a whole group," Cia pointed out, "And besides, we came across them by accident when we were looking shelter from the rain."

Peter got up, "It’s probably just for a short period of time. We’ll come back down soon enough, I’m sure."

Although that would make the most amount of sense, there was a feeling in her mind that things won’t go too simply. Already, she could tell that Del was going to make some bad choices that’ll lead to people dying.

Arriving at the location where he was told the two students disappeared, Leo was using his ability to detect the faint residual energy leftover from their footsteps.

As every living being had qi in them, whenever they committed an action, or touched something, there were lingering remnants of the energy used. This was how he was able to deduce where they had gone.

There were 3 sets of foot prints walking through this path, that then changed separated into 2 pairs that left towards the river. Following it, it was just as the student described, the 2 sets of footprints disappeared right next to the river.

It was a safe conclusion that the two really did fall in, as there weren’t any signs of blood, or lingering energy of strong beasts, and none of the beasts in the area were too large to have swallowed the kids whole.

’If they’re still alive, then they would be at the end of the river,’ Leo concluded.

Right as he was about to follow the stream, his watch beeped several times. Pressing a button, it audibly told him that there were a few other classes that needed the Sergeants help, and he knew it would be too much for just one person to deal with.

It was a difficult choice to choose between the lives of two kids who were alone, versus the lives of the other classes, but either way he made his choice.

’If I encounter any teachers on my way down stream, I will help them, but the safety of those two kids are my end goal.’
