The sheer force of Erin landing on the king tier beast made her hood fall off of her head, allowing her hair to flow outwards freely. The hood was to protect her from the sun, but didn’t matter underground.
The beast tried to claw at the figure on top of itself, only for Erin to block the attack with the shadow, jump off, and fire a blood spray, creating a wound, then thrust her rapier into said wound for a quick heal.

[HP 68/95]
’The piercing power my rapier had was a problem when fighting against that flora saur,’ Erin thought, ’but by utilizing another skill, so long as I open up my opponent’s flesh, I can heal that way.’
Right behind her, Quinn came in with shiny black stone material for his armor, and created an opening around his hands. There, he fired mud spray 3 times into that same wound.
The beast staggered, and yanked its arm out of the shadow. When it attacked the group earlier on the roof, it was holding back, not using its full speed as a warning. However, when Erin arrived, the beast had underestimated her, not expecting the girl to be so fast.
It was blatantly clear to Quinn that Erin had improved her stats, and he quickly checked her system tab.
[User: Erin Heley]

[HP 68/95]
[MC 32/100]

[Agility: 33] [+5]
[Stamina: 33]
[Charm: 12]
[Defense +3]
’Damn, she’s pretty strong now,’ Quinn thought, ’I wish I had those kinds of stats.’
To ensure that it wouldn’t need to worry about two moving attackers, the king tier beast focused its attention on Quinn. The beast assumed that he would be the weaker one out of the two fights as it had knocked him away easily earlier.
It swung both bladed arms in an X-like pattern, and Quinn raised his fists up to block, getting pushed back a few feet, but otherwise, he was fine.
’I knew it, this stone is special. So long as I wear this stone on like armor, it can’t hurt me,’ he thought, ’The only problems are that it’s heavy, so I’m not as fast as I would like to be, and to be able to move around in this armor requires a lot of MC to maintain.’
The beast slashed against Quinn’s armor again and again, sliding him against the ground with every hit, but the boy still stood.
Behind the king tier, a blonde teenager wobbled his way to the battlefield with tears in his eyes. His legs shook not because he was injured, far from it, but because he still wasn’t used to walking again.
The little one couldn’t see the state of Quinn as the beast’s body was blocking his vision, not that it would last long against him anyways.
Raising his hands up, the little one created a mountain of ice around the beast, entrapping it.
There was always something special with the little one. Although Vorden could only use the MC of one ability, and Raten with 2, their shared body had copied 3 abilities, and the little one pooled all of their MC to make a level 11 ice ability.
The king tier tried its best to break out of the ice, but the little one would keep making more and more. Burning through his MC, the little one was hoping he could crush the beast for daring to harm his Quinn.
Erin jumped onto the same roof Layla was on, and received a new quest notification from the system.
[New quest received]
[Defeat the king of the underground city]
[King tier beast: Likmorn]
[The town has been left behind, and in its empty place, the beasts began to take over. Amongst the many, eventually, a single creature took over, claiming the seat and title of king... The others do its bidding as it protects the treasure located in the tower.]
[Quest Reward: ????]
’Good, another beast to slaughter,’ Erin thought, and walked up to where her roommate was.
Layla had been watching everything from above, her legs nearly healed. Erin held her hand out, a cloud of shadow forming into the shape of the Replicatibow.
"I would never leave you alone for long," Erin stated.
By then, Layla had fully healed, and stood up on two feet, taking the bow. Power flowed through her, and Layla took out a minty green arrow with a spiky star shaped arrow head.
[Inspect]
[Dazzling Arrow]
[Intermediate tier]
[When this arrow hits an enemy, it stuns its target for 6 seconds]
[Notice: Arrow’s active effect will function at 60% of its power and last for 3.2 seconds when used with the Replicatibow]
She placed it onto her bow, and fired a ghostly version of the arrow, landing onto the Likmorn with a stunning light.
The beast froze, incapable of moving for those 3.2 seconds.
With the ice trapping the beast, it also shielded it from any further damage from Erin. It was a bit of an unfortunate thing, but she lifted up a wall of shadow, rapid fired several blood swipes with her sword, catching it in the shadow net.
[-18 HP]
[HP 50/95]
Then, she stepped to the side, opened up her palm, and aimed a bloodspray at the Likmorn.
[-5 HP]
[HP 45/95]
The ice shattered around the torso, exactly where the existing wound was. It was the perfect opening for Erin to drop the shadow, and all of the blood swipes crashed into the injury, further deepening it.
With Layla and the little one keeping it still, and Quinn and Erin doing heavy damage, the Likmorn knew that unless it did something soon, it would perish at their hands.
—
Peter and Cia had been traveling through the tunnels together, using her ability as a weak light source.
Since they didn’t want to be caught off guard, in case a beast came by, they were mostly keeping quiet. However, they didn’t stay silent for long as they eventually noticed that the underground didn’t seem to have any beasts around. They didn’t hear a sound, aside from their breathing.
So to fill the void, the two chatted about random stuff, and all the things they planned on doing once they got out.
"I really want to shower after all of this, I think I still smell like river water," Cia commented.
Peter was about to sniff the air when Cia interrupted him by saying, "Don’t actually smell me."
"...Alright," he awkwardly replied.
Looking at the ground, he noticed that Cia’s spear slightly illuminated something shiny.
’Wait a second—’
He crouched down to the ground where he saw the thing, and grabbed at what felt like a string.
"I recognize this, this is my friend’s ability!" Peter said, then lifted it up, "I think he left this behind for us to find!"
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s go," Cia said.
They ran after the string, Cia using her spears towards the ground so they could see it better. Eventually, they came across the town, and heard commotion going on. At the center, they saw light sources illuminating the area, and were unsure if they should go there or not.
"I think my friend Fex is here, I gotta go help him," Peter said, about to run off, but Cia grabbed his hand.
"Hold your horses, what do you think we can do against whatever it is that’s going on there?!" Cia yelled.
Peter turned around, "Your spears can help weaken the beast!"
"Well yeah but—" Cia glanced over to see the giant icicle mountain, and bit her lip nervously.
The situation looked pretty dangerous, but she didn’t want to stick around the underground tunnels blindly. Whoever was there had some sort of real light source.
"Let’s just get close enough to see if they need our help. If I think it’s too dangerous, I’m getting out of there, pronto."
They cautiously approached the center, doing their best to not get noticed. As they did, Cia saw Layla in the distance on a roof shooting arrows at the beast. Right next to her was a pair of disembodied legs wearing red juttis, a type of footwear.
Immediately, Cia recognized them. They were the shoes Layla always wore.
It made her wonder just what happened. There was no way that Layla put her shoes on a corpse and was now attacking a beast barefoot. Not only that, but there was blood on her body that would match where the corpse was cut.
’I knew it, something did happen to Layla, but what? I can’t tell agent 5 about this until I know more.’
